A new little one in meet Rihanna. You can clearly see her eye so not really dehydrated.

She was a bit hypothermic, so had 1 round of fluid and a warm up in the incubator.
Although she looks quite well she's supplying 💩 samples which are teeming with roundworm, lungworm a bacterial gut infection, and possibly Fluke.
She has no appetite at the moment. She will start treatment tomorrow when she's stable.

There is always a reason they are out in the day even if they look well.
A big thank you to Linda and daughter Rihanna who found her and brought her in.

Sad, but not surprised that Julie the big girl who was having breathing problems passed peacefully over the 🌈 bridge at 3pm.

When I gave her drugs and nebuliser at 1pm I could tell she was running out of strength.

Although no notable age changes in her colouring her teeth have told me she was quite a very mature lady so she was probably coming to the end of her natural life span.

Fly high you big beautiful girl, you gave it all you could 😢.

Big girl Julie has surprisingly made it through the night. However her breathing is still very laboured and wheezy 😥.

She is still requiring fluid injections as eating and drinking any sustainable amount isn't possible 😢.

She has had another nebuliser this morning and will have them 3 times a day.

When she has them and her antinflammatory drugs later I will add in a different antibiotic just incase we have a resistant bug.

Awaiting a decent 💩 sample but when they aren't eating and drinking they aren't very regular.

Please continue to send ❤️🤞🙏 she's got this far let's hope she will turn a corner soon ❤️

UPDATE 10pm. After 10 fluid injections and a few hours in the incubator we seem to have partially corrected the dehydration and hypothermia, a very slight improvement with the breathing but her breathing is still very laboured ❤️

Big girl just in.

Extreme hypothermia and very dehydrated. Difficulty breathing, very chesty, wheezing and ( mouth breathing which is a very bad sign).

Also possible rear foot or leg injury as reported by finder, but to ill to examine fully but no obvious trauma.

Had 2 fluid injections and now in the high dependency box having a nebuliser.

When the nebuliser has finished she will have 2 more fluid injections plus antibiotics and antinflammatory drugs before transferring her to the incubator to try to get her warmed up.

A big thank you to Julie for bringing her in. I've named her Julie after her finder.

Please send her 🤞🙏♥️ and healing vibes I'm doing everything possible but she really is critical and may die very soon 😥

You can help hedgehogs by making small changes in your garden 🪴 🦔🐾

Early spring sees many gardeners start preparing the vegetable patch and garden for the growing season ahead. In Cornwall the majority of hedgehogs will now be out of hibernation and active. Each spring we see cases with caustic burns and critically ill from ingesting chemicals.

There are so many natural alternatives to chemicals… can you share any tried and tested alternatives you have in the comments below?

Demi’s Christmas Wish List 🎄

Demi might be an older girl, but we’ve reassured her that you’re never too old to write a letter to Santa Paws. Demi is feeling a bit under the weather after her vet trip today, so hopefully a few gifts will get her feeling back to her usual (still slightly grumpy) self!

Dear Santa,

I would like a dedicated human for lap time and stroking for Christmas (my current humans don’t sit down enough) and I do love a good fluffy pom pom ball. I had a favourite sparkly purple one which I got my humans to throw for me but I managed to lose it somewhere (I hope I haven’t eaten it).

I do love biscuits but I have to stick to gastrointestinal or sensitive ones.

Oh and my humans would appreciate a trixie XXL litter tray as I’m very good at kicking litter everywhere despite my small size.

Thank you in advance from little old lady Demi x

All ready at Bramcote College lots of lovely stalls open until 8 pm ♥️
