🌟 Commonly Asked Questions 🌟

Can Mantrailing Dogs Take Part in Trail Hunt International?

Absolutely, 1000% YES!!!!!

Trail Hunt is a blend of Tracking and Trailing pulling aspects of both into a brand new sport.

We teach the dogs with clarity about the sport and use a specific odour.

This coupled with a specific start signal and verbal communication means that dogs understand when they are Mantrailing, when they are Trail Hunting and also when they are Tracking and doing Scent Detection.

When you train with clarity your dog knows what’s expected of them.

In addition all the Mantrailing dogs who take part in Trail Hunt we have seen a massive increase in their Mantrailing abilities.

So don’t be put off if your dog is currently Mantrailing, Trail Hunt will help with your Mantrailing training and give you another sport to take part in.

🌟 Commonly asked Questions 🌟

Is my dog too old to join Trail Hunt?

Dogs of ALL ages can enjoy Trail Hunt. Our Instructors are trained to be able to adapt exercises to suit our golden oldies so that they can take part in Trail Hunt with the same fulfilment as their younger canine buddies.

Trail Hunt is low impact and is carried out at the speed of the dog meaning it’s accessible to every dog even our golden oldies.

Pictured below is Merlin, he’s 11 years old and thriving at learning a new sport. He takes his time with his trails and we make sure the trails and exercises are suitable and appropriate for him and his age.

So if you have a golden oldie who would benefit from some mental and physical enrichment in the form of Trail Hunt then find your nearest Instructor and get them enrolled.

I’ll be at this event, if you want to find out more- do pop along and say hello!

Man’s best friends and their owners are all invited to the first ever Chatsworth Dog Fayre taking place in Eastbourne in November.

The Chatsworth Hotel on the town’s seafront will play host to the event on Sunday 5 November from 1pm-5pm.

The event is being held to raise the profile of Eastbourne as a dog friendly destination and is one of several projects funded by the Visit Eastbourne Tourism Development Fund – a £15,000 pot to subsidise new initiatives, which help to increase footfall and visitor spend in the town.

The fayre will include pet portrait photograph sessions, pet first aid training, dog grooming demonstrations, doggy competitions, dog treats and a tombola, with dog food and pet fashion brands such as Butternut Box and Overglam Dog Fashion & More in attendance. Entry to the fayre is free to well behaved dogs and their owners.

The event is part of a weekend programme of activities at the hotel, offering accommodation packages and dog walking tours via DogFriendly.co.uk – where dog owners can also vote for Eastbourne as the most dog friendly destination (vote closes 31 October).

It takes place as a new Dog Friendly Guide is published, which will appear both online at VisitEastbourne.com and in print and distributed by the Friends of Eastbourne Seafront welcome team, Seafront Office and Eastbourne Visitor Centre.

The guide is a directory of all things dog friendly in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.

Councillor Margaret Bannister, Eastbourne Borough Council’s Lead Member for Tourism, Leisure, Accessibility & Community Safety, said, “This is going to be an amazing event for our four-legged friends and their owners, and will showcase what a really dog friendly destination Eastbourne is.

“The VisitEastbourne Tourism Development Fund is all about partnership working and how by working together we can amplify our message to visitors and provide impactful results, highlighting the fantastic town that Eastbourne is and what it has to offer to wider audiences. I am delighted to see it working in action.”

In addition to dog friendly projects the Fund also supported the launch of new event A Taste of Victoria Place, which showcased the restaurant community in August, and will be supporting several other projects between now and December.

Applications were open exclusively to current members of Visit Eastbourne – managed by Eastbourne Borough Council’s Tourism & Culture team.

As veterinarians, Mantrailing holds a special place in our hearts.

Here's why we are captivated by this remarkable activity and its benefits for your dogs. 🐶❤️👃

Mantrailing taps into a dog's innate scenting abilities. It allows them to utilise their extraordinary sense of smell, honing their skills in tracking and locating specific scents. Witnessing their natural talents in action is truly awe-inspiring! Mantrailing has practical applications beyond just a recreational activity. Trailing dogs can assist in search and rescue operations, locating missing individuals, and even in forensic investigations.

Engaging in Mantrailing provides dogs with both mental and physical exercise. The intricate puzzles and challenges presented during trailing sessions keep their minds sharp, while the physical activity keeps them fit and energised. It's a win-win for their overall well-being.

Mantrailing boosts a dog's confidence levels significantly. Their self-assurance skyrockets as they successfully follow a trail and find their target. This newfound confidence often spills over into other aspects of their lives, positively impacting their behaviour and overall temperament.

At The Renew Centre, we have found Mantrailing to be helpful for dogs who cannot take on high physical exercise but can still get bored quickly. Due to Its low-impact nature, Mantrailing is perfect for those dogs needing a more controlled form of exercise.

If you're looking to embark on a Mantrailing journey with your dog as a form of low-impact exercise, book in with us for a seasonal check so we can provide your dog with a tailored assessment. Contact us on 01452 767735 to find out more.

Today these two lovely dogs and handlers came along for a private intro session as they are friends who wanted to learn together. Rained quite a lot but our spirits weren’t dampened!

29/06/2023

Unfortunately the evening intro series planned for July has been cancelled as not enough people. The next intro will be organised for September in due course.
