❄️❄️❄️Brrrrrr …. It’s cold out there!! ❄️❄️❄️

We know that our dogs love going out for their walks and when they’ve developed a routine for walks, it can be really hard to break it. Still, your dog’s safety comes before their need to go out for a walk especially during extreme temperatures.

So when is it too cold to take your dog for a walk?🥶

Much like us, our perceived temperature of “too cold” can vary with a lot of circumstances (such as if there’s wind, rain, snow, ice or otherwise), dogs too can have days where it’s “too cold” dependent on circumstances.

A lot of whether or not it’s “too cold” to walk your dog depends on your dogs age, breed, health, size and how much he or she weighs. It’s surprising to know that there really are only a few degrees difference between “no danger to your dog” cold and “dangerous to your dog”cold!!

During freezing/icy weather, road salt/grit can really dry out your dog’s paw pads and if he or she licks it off, its possible your dog might get sick.
If you do venture out make sure you give your dog’s paws a good wash when you get back from a walk just to be sure.

As a general rule, if it seems too cold for you outside, then it’s probably too cold for your dog (Huskies, Newfoundlands or similar breeds maybe not so much!).

Be sure to keep an eye on your dog while they are outside & take all necessary precautions to make sure your furry friend stays safe & doesn’t get too cold! 🐶

Some good tips for anyone with an XL Bully after the distressing news!!

XL BULLIES , THE LAW AND OUR ADVICE

We are, obviously, receiving a huge amount of messages from concerned owners of XL Bullies

To answer a few questions:

Yes, if you already own an XL Bully, the dog will be classed as a banned breed, and you will have to go through the exemption process to be able to keep your dog under DEFRA’s exemption rules.

We do not know yet how they will define XL’s, we can assume it will be similar to how they define Pitbull Type: Measurements and Characteristics.

Our advice, at this time, if you suspect your dog is an XL, get them neutered ASAP.

To have your dog exempted, it must be neutered.

If it’s not neutered and it’s seized, you will NOT get your dog back until it has been neutered.
Better having them neutered now by your own vet than the police approved kennels getting them done.
Also, if your dog is already neutered, you may be able to stop your dog going into kennels, there’s the IES (Interim Exemption Scheme) that a few forces use, where you can keep your dog at home, under conditions, until the court date for exemption.

Muzzle train your dog now!!

This will prove you’re a responsible owner, and, also prepare your dog for having to keep them muzzled, at all times, in public, this includes in your car etc.

They must also be on a lead at all times and can never be off lead again unless in enclosed paddocks.

If the police come for your dog DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING!!

They may try to blag you into signing: Oh sign this to say you understand why we are taking your dog.

DONT!!! You’ll be signing for them to put your dog to sleep.

We appreciate that this news is frightening for many and many will be angry!!

Keep calm at all times with the authorities, they will be judging you and your behaviour as well as your dog!!

What a beauty!! She's the most beautiful dog, with a good temperament and attitude! She's a big dog but she plays like a puppy and loves all the attention. Dolly will be slowly introduced to some group walks for lots of play & make lots of new friends! I can't wait to see her bouncing round with everyone!! ☀️Hello Summer!!☀️

- I'm sure all of us are enjoying the sunshine, even the early mornings aren't such a drag when the sun is shining.. but let's not forget about our fur babies and how they'll be coping in this heat.

As most of you will be aware these sort of temperatures aren't ideal for them, walks will have been delayed or they may not have had one due to this. Their routine will be out and they won't understand.

For me, my job is to ensure your dogs are kept safe, loved and happy while you guys are working, so with that in mind and how warm its expected to be (at least for next few days) walks can be changed to early mornings if needed/preferred. I know the majority of clients just like to break the day up for their dog, so if early morning walks aren't for you. Then i can change your walk times to pops in. Of course, times may vary if your dog usually comes on group walks then it may not be at their normal time.

These pop ins will be to ensure they have fresh water, some company and instead of normal play, it'll be sniffing and brain activities ensuring the same energy is burned just in a different more efficient ways to help keep them cool.

I will be messaging on the days of your calls and giving you guys the options of what you'd like to do with regular checks of weather, as we all know temperture and weather conditions do change throughout the day so sometimes it may be last minute changes, I'll be making these decisions based on weather, breed, health and other factors. If I do decide to take your dogs out in the cooler times, this may be cut shorter if I feel its getting too hot or your dog isn't coping well with it.

Please please remember no dog has ever died from missing a walk but 1 in 7 dogs treated by the vet for heat stroke die as a result.

All dogs that are left alone throughout the day will take priority during these warmer days!

☀️WINNIE’S LAST WALK☀️

The absolute sadness I felt knowing Winnie wasn’t going to be coming on anymore walks with us for a while, was deep!! Winnie is having some quality time with her mumma while she’s on maternity leave and will be rejoining once she’s back to work but for now it’s see you later Win!!🥹 Winnie was one of my very first clients and we have loved having her as part of the gang!! We will miss you but will see you soon!

We had extra time together, extra belly rubs and she was left with a toy, treats and a card to avoid forgetting us too quickly!!

Look after your baby brother! & good luck and congratulations to all of Winnie’s family on their new member!! 💙💙

As a dog walker, I’ve always ensured I get involved in the activities, whether it’s playing, doing sniffing games, running, chasing, throwing a ball. I always try to make my time with the dogs the most energetic and fun! It builds a very good bond for all involved and ensures I get their full focus 100% of the time, it allows me to recall quickly and effectively, introduce other dogs into a group walk responsibly and calmly and most importantly avoids any issues with other dogs for the most part, obviously some things are out of my control but by doing small things like this I can get things calm quickly and stop any confrontation from dogs within the pact or even outside dogs! I absolutely love all my doggos and I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again - it’s the best job in the world!!❤️❤️
