On behalf of the Barczyk family and our entire team at The Reptarium, it is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian Barczyk.

More than the guiding light of our organization, Brian's fervent passion for reptiles and wildlife, along with his steadfast dedication to education, has touched innumerable hearts and minds globally.

Our deepest sympathies are with Brian's family, his friends, and all those whose lives he has touched. We've lost an exceptional individual – a visionary, mentor, and friend. For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Brian's absence leaves an immeasurable void.
As we navigate this difficult time, we find comfort in the memories and the lasting light of Brian's work. He will be deeply missed but indeed, never forgotten.

The Barczyk family invites you to join us for a Public Memorial Walk-through to honor Brian’s memory. The event will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Heritage Church, located at 44625 Schoenherr Rd. Sterling Heights, MI 48313 from 1-3pm.

Well we have been busy 🤭 we are over the moon to finally announce we have another member of the hut brewing, We are sorry for how quiet we have been, Turns out the first few months of creating this small human have been very time consuming, But this little cadet will no doubt jump into the reptile world just like their mammy and daddy did 💚 remember stay safe out there we love you and we cant wait to bring you along on our next chapter of our journey 🐍🐍🐍

This is a all ages page so im going to word this very very carefully as we pride ourselfs on making sure everyone of all ages can read and see our content,

We are a reptile rescue! That means the only feelings we care about, in the physical sense, are the animals intrusted in our care, if you have been told no you dont get one of our animals that dose not mean we dont like you that means we do not belive you have tha ability or capability to look after a animal right now and in that it also means we will inform all the other rescues, breeders and shops we know not to give you an animal, that is because we care more about the animals than your delicate feelings, we send them everything your facebook photo your name and if possible your phone number we are NOT sorry,

We love when people say to us its easier to get a fake passport than rehome an animal from us we are picky and we care alot,

Our animals always come first you want to talk the nasty about us say we are difficult you do that its just showing the other people in the NE that we really do care about the welfare and saftey of our animals,

Everyone who has rehomed from us will tell you its not easy and you have to be one of those rare magical humans who p**p rainbows, toot glitter and would skip meals to make sure your pet gets fed first and Im proud to say that everyone who has rehomed fits that description to a tee,

We are marmite you love us or hate us we dont care, but one thing everyone can say is we love our animals past, present and future more than we love cheese here and we will never change for anyone,

So anyone who has rehomed from us, we love you like family, we have entrusted you with a peice of our heart and we know you will protect and love them with all of yours, your heros in our eyes and you rock!

Charmander was a very happy monitor today having a lovely swim in the bath but after i asked him if he would like a little walk around the room before dinner he gave me this look, it screams "just because you joined the gym mother dose not mean I want to" 😂 this is hands down my laziest reptile...... until his dinner is jumping about that is then he is the Usain bolt of the reptile world 🐍🐍🐍

This is the post I never wanted to write,

As a small reptile rescue we completely rely on donations and rehomes to keep us going, we are at full capacity and we are going under, we are currently working now on divert,

we are lucky enough to have met, help and work alongside alot of other amazing rescues and not forgetting you fellow animal lovers opening up your homes for for a rescue animal from us and the other rescues here in the UK,

But now we are in a hole that feels like we will never get out of, and instead of continuing and potentially not being able to give future animals the best lives while they are with us we have to say no to any more coming in,

we will still help you find homes for your animals if we can and we will point you in the direction of other rescues if they have the space to take them, please remember we are all struggling at this moment in time, but we can not take them in at the moment, we are working hard to get the funds together to keep us going but it seems like its going to be an impossible task,

We are hopeful to say we will not be closed forever we will come back and we will help more reptiles in the future,

Right now we have to focus on the animals we have at the rescue and we are super happy to say our amazing foster hoomans have already said their foster friends are family now ❤

We will be back, but until then please follow along on our animals in sanctuary journey and keep cheering us on and supporting us in whatever way you can, we really do appreciate it and we will come back bigger and better in the future,

Well this is molly looking beautiful after her bath, enjoying my huge smile getting cuddles from this gentle giant, even the man of the hut got some molly loves (he is the one with the dark beard) and a huge thank you to Hayden for helping me move this girl around, with having a owchie sholder Hayden was an absolute gift from the gods today, please enjoy my huge grin, molly being held like a baby and her close up with Jake, stay safe out there 🐍🐍🐍

Its cleaning day here at the hut, and my golly Im sick 😂 3 done now 4 to go and im ready for a nap....once I can pinch one of our experienced volunteers we can get the giants cleaned out and ofcorse get you guys some amazing photos of us being man handled by Molly and Astrid, lets just hope Big Mama dosent end up being p**ped on again or gets turned into a chew toy 🤞 who is exited to see these big girls in all their glory? 🐍🐍🐍

We have just been informed of a very big house fire in sunnyside (cramlington) as we are based neer by we want to say we are far enough away that any fumes are not getting to the rescue and the animals are safe,

Well todays snakes 🐃💩 attitude award gos to astrid the biggest pain in my ass ever,

Stood and washed all the bigs dishes (yes they are kitchen bowls) steralised them, rinsed them filled them...... TO THE BRIM!!!!.... 10 seconds in astrids viv and she dose this...... thankfully iv sealed all their vivs so the water wont pour all over the floor but now I have the joy of cleaning out all the mushy substrate with a snake in a playful mood 🤦‍♀️

She looks very proud of herself tho 😂

And they snakes dont have feelings.... this one is full of anger at me and mischief, I guess I should have washed faster 😂 or im off to buy more bowls in the morning, SPARES ARE NEEDED!!!

So our tongs have vanished..... we are blameing the big cat 🤔 ..... so feeding the small sneks with chopsticks has Big Mama feeling like a pro chop stick user 😂

Severus aka mr grumpy pants, is starting to agree to being worked with, he still enjoys long hisses in my face and running around the house like a nutter but he no longer bites the fingers and accepts a nice good snuggle on a night time 😍 isnt he the sweetest in big mamas hoodie 🐍🐍🐍

Big Mama here,
We have been really p**py at keeping you all updated lately, we have been put through the ringer these past few months with family loss, pet loss and it really has taken a toll on us all here at Big Mamas Snake Hut, but we are starting to pull ourselves back together and we will be back posting properly and at full force as soon as possible, stay safe out there 🐍🐍🐍

Its with a heavy heart i make this post, its taken me a few days to be able to write this as my heart is broken into so many pieces,

Monty our most favourite and famous royal python passed away on Christmas eve,

Everyone who met monty loved him from kids to big scary bikers he won the heart of everyone, he broke down the stigma against his kind everywere he went,

he made friends with police officers, paramedics, babies and even the hells angels

On his adventures with the armed forced bikers he got to meet thousands of his adoring fans who all loved to see him out and about,

he raised money for the afb veterans charity and loved sunning himself across many bike handle bars and leather seats while he took his breaks from posing for pictures with everyone,

His memory will live on in everyone he met and loved him, he was the best boy and in his own snakey way he loved you all too,

So in keeping our tradition we won't be setting off fireworks tomorrow (or any night that is) in memory of Bubs Sharp I know she is no longer with us but there are soo many other doggos like her, fireworks for dogs and ex service persons with PTSD ect don't enjoy them, they aren't nice they aren't worth it, to all puppers who are scared I know bubbles will be with yous in spirit keeping you safe ######x

Well its getting close to that time of year again and as always we DO NOT rehome animals during the Christmas period unless its for yourself,

Animals are not Christmas gifts for kids/partners/ parents ect they are life long commitments and deserve to be treated as family,

Saying that we always get an influx of surrenders and rescues after the christmas period with the same reasons
- it got bigger than expected
-my child got bored of it and I hate snakes

By all means use your kids as an excuse to get that snake you have always wanted but dont get one soely for them,

Good luck with the start of your christmas shopping and i hope you dont get stuck in the christmas rush and please remember sales assistants are people too dont shout at them because you left it till christmas eve to get your stuffing mix, shop responsibly!

Ohh we are always accepting christmas gifts including rats, mice, chicks and rabbits 🤞🤞🤞

We will still be running as usual from the 1st of december but with no rehomes available 🐍🐍🐍

Anyone rehoming animals please message us asap we have just had confirmation that my gut feeling was right!

We have had an anonymous tip that someone who has tried to rehome from us is bad news (very glad we didn't rehome with this person,

We have their name photo and rough where abouts of said person and have black listed them from ourselfs and have notified our network of rescues we have the pleasure of working alongside and they have also black listed them,

Please rehome responsibly and if it dosent smell right dont do it better safe than sorry 🐍🐍🐍

**edit rescues/rehomers/groups & police have been notified and bar the police have all black listed this person from rehoming please share this post to reach anyone who hasnt been told as my lil fingers are burnt out from all the messages
