Today we had the lovely Hugo come and spend the day with us.

We started off being nosy neighbours and watching the world go by to then a lovely long run around Denbies Vineyard.

It’s been a busy few days for us at puffed out paws.

Lots of fun splashing around in the mud and puddles.

Muddy dogs are happy dogs.

I have had a wonderful weekend spending it with these 4 doing pop in visits.
A 9 week old ragdoll kitten and 2 lovely older ones.

Whoops!
That moment when you are out walking and you meet one of the dogs you walk regularly, they come running over, and then when the owner wants to walk away, the dog walks with you instead 🤣🤣
Eventually, returned to the owner. Proof that the doggies have fun with us!

ʜᴏᴡ ᴛᴏ ᴋᴇᴇᴘ ᴅᴏɢꜱ ᴄᴏᴏʟ ᴀɴᴅ ꜱᴀꜰᴇ

Keeping your dog cool in hot weather is all about careful preparation and forward planning. This will keep your dog healthy and happy, and will reduce the risk of your dog suffering from heatstroke.

There are many ways you can help your dog stay cool in hot weather, these tips also help to cool down a dog if they are too hot

●Encourage them to stay in shaded areas and away from direct sunlight
●Put down damp towels for them to lie on
●Fill a hot water bottle with cold water
●Keep a paddling pool in the shade for them to splash about in

ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ ᴏꜰ ʜᴇᴀᴛ ꜱᴛʀᴏᴋᴇ ɪɴ ᴅᴏɢꜱ

Heatstroke develops when a dog can't reduce their body temperature and it can be fatal. Signs of heatstroke include:

●Heavy panting
●Glazed eyes
● A rapid pulse
●Excessive salivation
●Lack of coordination
●Vomiting or diarrhoea
●Loss of consciousness

ʜᴏᴡ ᴛᴏ ᴛʀᴇᴀᴛ ʜᴇᴀᴛꜱᴛʀᴏᴋᴇ

If you think your dog has heatstroke, you need to act fast. Take them to a cool, shaded area. Apply towels soaked in cold water to their head, neck and chest and let them drink water or lick an ice cube. Never place them directly into ice cold water or give them too much to drink as they may go into shock.
