Well that’s everyone peeled and looking fantastic!! Please drop us a message if you are interested in having some fleeces for crafting/gardening etc! As always, we just ask for a some pennies towards the sheep pocket money (Ohana calls it the biscuit fund!) and postage if we are sending them out to you 💚
Some fleeces have already been claimed, but let us know if you are after a fleece from a particular sheep and we will see what we can do- all fleeces have been individually bagged up ready 🐑

Long time no update!
As I said before, we have taken a step back from social media for many reasons.
We don’t feel like the input it takes to get donations etc is really helping us at all, it just takes time away from us being with the animals.
Don’t get us wrong, we are so incredibly grateful for those who donate to us in anyway and support us with comments likes shares kind words. We love our supporters and we want to interact with you all! But we want to do it because we share a love for animals, not because we want people to donate.
There’s a common trend amongst rescues and sanctuaries of “poor us we have it so hard and need 5k for a flat pack shelter for the animals “ or something along those lines.
And I get it, it is hard to have a rescue. So hard! But we just aren’t the type of people who can buy into the guilt tripping or helpless. We needed a shelter and didn’t have much money, so we made one out of pallets 💪🏻
We needed a muck heap so we used fence panels and scrap metal to make it.
We need hutches and runs or materials etc so we thrift them from scrap yards and good old Facebook market place!
And also new rescues; we are currently not taking in anymore sheep as we know we’re at capacity in space and money and time. Whereas new rescues are what brings in donations and attention.

I don’t think badly of those who take that line when fundraising as those are the things that get attention, but for us it’s not who we are.
We’re rough and ready, duct tape and bale twine ladies 😂
So we are here and still doing the work we’ve always done, but we’re just focusing on the actual animals and caring for them.
Today we have our wonderful shearer Jason from Stockman In Demand coming to peel the sheepies!
This is one of our favourite days of the year!
We’ll update later with some naked sheep!
Love to all our wonderful supporters ❤️

A big thank you to our friends and their friends who all got together yesterday to do the rest of our big shed muckout 💩💚 both sheds are now fully mucked out, we have two huge muck heaps that we will work on getting taken away soon (once the ground dries out!) and the sheep are all happy 😃 Hazel was delighted that he got to have so many cuddles yesterday too 🤗

Good morning to our lovely followers 💓
We’ve been a bit quiet lately as we’re taking a step back from the “public” side of sanctuary life for a while.
Work is very busy for both myself and Stacey, and unfortunately after losing my grandad earlier this week I’ve been mentally exhausted by everything.
We’re still working hard at the sanctuary for the animals, the past week we’ve mucked out half our big shed with the help of some wonderful friends, built an outdoor run for the Slippers 🐰, had a crow and baby pheasant in, and planning a home for two ducks who came to us a few weeks ago.

Today we’re off to see our wonderful friend Andy at The Mirkwood Rest Home for Retired Sheep! Andy provides a life long home for sheep, specifically older sheep and those who find themselves in tricky circumstances. We’ll be helping get these wonderful babies peeled and naked ready for the summer!

Here are a couple of pics of the animals who are all doing well at the moment ❤️
And I’d like to just take a moment to remember my wonderful grandad Brian, who was always there to support me, and never let anyone make me feel small no matter who there they.
Thank you grandad, the things you told me and advice you gave have stuck in my head for many years and will do for many years to come. You’re one of the people who gave me faith in the world. Rest well and I’ll see you on the other side where we can share so many more stories 🩵

It’s our big shed muck out volunteer day this Sunday! For anyone not on our volunteer group, who is local and would like to attend, here is the post that’s just gone up!

We are starting at 10am, anyone who doesn’t know our location please drop me a message and I’ll ping the location over. It’s an over 16s event due to our insurance policy.
On the day, our main job is mucking out the sheep shed, so it’s lots of physical labour. Good footwear is essential, gloves are a good idea as handling forks often leads to blisters! I have a few pairs of work gloves coming that we can use. We have some tools, but if you have anything you think would be handy, like forks etc, please feel free to bring them along!
We will provide snacks and drinks, but if you can bring bottles/travel mugs it would be handy! Feel free to bring your own snacks/drinks but we ask that no animal products are brought along - as we are a farmed animal sanctuary.
We will have a BBQ after so if you’d like to stay for that please let us know so I have an idea for numbers to get enough food.
We have no toilet facilities as we are at a field, so it’s a bush or a bucket!
Any questions, please let me know 🐑
There will of course be sheep cuddles too, the gang love the attention , Hazel is ready to snuggle 💚
We look forward to seeing you!

If you’d like to join in, drop us a message and head over to SameStar Sheep Sanctuary Supporters And Volunteers for the Big shed muckout day! 💚🐑

Today we wish Poppy a happy 6th birthday, our lovely big fluffy girl 🖤 we also wish a happy birthday our beloved and dearly missed, BillyWilliam, who would have also been six today ❤️‍🩹
Poppy had some extra snacks today to celebrate 💖 and we are thinking of our sweet angel boy today, a lot of feelings all round.

Busy day!
Unfortunately at the moment my truck is off the road 🤦🏽‍♀️ and I don’t have the money to do all the work in one go, so we have limited days off together for sanctuary jobs. But the stars aligned today and myself and Stacey managed to get some things done in preparation for our Big shed muckout day!
We now have a big skip barrow, and a new more uniform muck heap! We’re still looking for someone to take away our old heap but at least the new one will give us space for the muck out!
If you’re in Norfolk and are free on Sunday 19th of May then please do come along for our big muck out! There’s many jobs as well as mucking out such as weeding, cleaning out the small animals, general tiding and maintenance, plus lots of sheep cuddles!
We also have the camp stove on the go for lots of tea and will have a BBQ and picnic afterwards 💓
Open to anyone over 16!

A rare occurrence! Myself and Stacey are having an “Us Morning”! We’ve been and fed and sorted all the sanctuary animals, and we’re now heading off to town with Ruby our beautiful rescue bully from Hillside Dog Rescue!
The itinerary is the pet shop for some animal bits of course! Then a walk around Mousehold Heath, followed by a coffee for us and a Puppercino for Ruby!

We don’t often post about dogs as there are so many rescues and organisations out there, but if you’re considering finding a new member of your family, Hillside Dog Rescue in Norfolk have some absolutely amazing dogs looking for homes! The caring and knowledgeable staff are always on hand to assist in finding your paw-fect match!
Please do have a look at the wonderful dogs available here https://www.hillside.org.uk/HillsideDogRescue_000.htm a

Some bedtime snacks! I went and picked some lush grass and ivy from the hedgerows tonight and the peepens were super happy munching away!
We’re now headed to sort the special care field out before heading home for our own dinner and a sit down.
Today was feed stock up day so all together we have by hand shifted and emptied roughly 800kg of feed which will last our animals 4/5 weeks 😅
Needless to say that we are aching and ready for bed, but need to make sure our oldies and special care birds are all fed, meds given, and tucked up in their own beds first!

Bop, Erin, and Big Marge featuring Clementine chicken, are having a chill in the sun ☀️
I’m doing jobs at our special care field today whilst our wonderful friend KS Animal Behaviour is looking after the main flock!
Unfortunately my truck broke down a couple weeks ago and is proving very very expensive to fix. So my lovely mum dropped me up here on the way to work!
April/May is a very slow time for donations, and we haven’t been asking as we know everyone is on hard times…but if anyone could spare any £s we would be so grateful! I’m still stressing about how to pay for my truck and our normal feed bills etc

Chicken Hospital!
As well as sheep, most of you will know that we also rescue poultry, namely chickens!
We take in ex commercial hens who are too weak or poorly to go to a normal home, and unwanted cockerels! We specialise in cockerels who are due to be euthanised for aggression towards humans.
We have a little chicken hospital shed for our poorly girls. Currently we have three girls in. Pictured on my lap is Kady, who came to us as she was getting attacked by the other chickens in her flock, which led to her sustaining a nasty wound on her comb, and eye. She is on twice daily eye drops, which are helping a lot! Not that Kady agrees 😅
2nd is little Chick. She came to us only a day ago as she has a tendon injury which needs long term treatment and her owners felt that they weren’t experienced enough to rehab her. Shes a sweet little girl, and is showing some improvement already after 24 hours, so fingers crossed she keeps improving!
Last we have Rosie, a little hen who is very very old! We don’t know her exact age but she has come to us for ‘end of life’ care.
She is a quiet girl with arthritis, so needs a small flock and housing which doesn’t have many levels that she has to climb.
All these ladies and the many that have come through our little makeshift hospital are so wonderful and deserve a happy life!
If you wish to help us fund our work with not just the chickens, but the many sheep, goats, guinea pigs, and rabbits, the please follow the link below! 🩷

So after many months our beautiful rescue bunny Chilli has finally found her forever home…… With us! 🙈
After being let down, messed around, and in some cases disrespected by people regarding adopting Chilli, we were feeling pretty down about finding her a home.
In the meantime our “fluffy little cloud”, Hyzenthlay kept finding her way into Chilli’s part of the run!
We kept turfing her out again and trying to figure how she was getting in! Bunnies shouldn’t just be introduced to each other face on or in each other’s territory as they can have nasty fights which can even be fatal. But Hy was adamant she wanted in, and one day we found her and Chilli happily chilling out and munching together…so we decided to introduce Fiver, Hy’s original friend, into the mix. And a few weeks on we have a trio of bestie bunnies!
So perhaps all the stress and time wasters happened for a reason, she wasn’t meant to go anywhere!
Bunnies are amazing pets but not a responsibility that should be taken lightly. Please do thorough research before deciding to get a bunny. And for those who may be thinking “I don’t have time for my rabbits, they could find a better home or sanctuary”. Make. Time.
The best place for your rabbit is at home with you. They’ll get far less attention in a rescue, and with the cost of living crisis, it’s unlikely they’ll find a home very quickly if at all 😔
Sometimes there is no choice but please don’t give up on your pets because you think they need more attention or you don’t have time. Make time for them. If they have fresh water, the correct diet, clean bedding, and space to play abd exhibit natural behaviours, then they are fine and better off there than being placed into shelters which are already crumbling under the pressure of all the animals getting dumped!
Rabbits are for life, not just a novelty 🩷

Wendy has given up the floor this Wednesday! This week we’re celebrating Arlo Weigh-Day Wednesday!
Our beautiful OAP guinea pig Arlo has been on treatment for hyperthyroidism for the past 5 months and today has reached his pre-diagnosis weight of 900g! 🩷 🥳
Arlo has been passed about a lot in his little life, but he’s home for good here with us. He’s been part of the sanctuary for over two years now, and since his diagnosis has been living in my bedroom so I have give him extra TLC.
We’re so proud of you Arlo!

So we are getting closer to summer, which means it’s almost time for our annual big shed muck out! This is our biggest volunteer day of the year, were we all get together, wielding forks, wheel barrows and brooms, and muck out the big sheep sheds. This is a huge task and takes a lot of work, but with a good team, we smash it out and have a fun time, along with sheep cuddles! We then set up the bbq and have an afternoon of food and animal cuddles. If you’re interested in joining us for this, drop a comment below 👇🏻 we are looking at holding this either Saturday 18th or Sunday 19th May.
We need to get an idea of numbers, then will sort out times and details!
You can also join our volunteers group for further updates! SameStar Sheep Sanctuary Supporters And Volunteers

Today we wish a big happy 2nd birthday and 2nd rescue anniversary to our very special little boy, Spirit! He’s come so far from the tiny, freezing cold, rejected little lamb. He’s grown into such a sweet and gentle boy, with the cutest hairstyle and the longest tail! We love you, PiwitPantaloons! 💖🎂🎉🥳🎁
