**DATE CHANGE**

To give everyone as much polocrosse over the winter as possible, we have changed the date of the second clinic day to avoid any clashing. Please see the new date is the 29th of October. Fliers below contain more information.

The perfect end-of-season opportunity to learn some tools and exercises to work on over winter. A well schooled horse makes the game so much more fun to play, as well as helping you get those wins! These sessions are open to novice and advanced combinations, I'll split up the groups appropriately to make sure everyone gets the most out of it. Come along to individual sessions or all three, each has a different focus.

There are still spaces available on all three days. So don't miss out and book in now!

Who's looking forward to Summer?

I don't know about you, but the thought of longer, warmer days brings a smile to my face. Especially when I think about all the extra time I can spend with the horses.

I'm now looking at taking bookings for trainers in the Summer months. With blocks starting from the first week of July. Feel free to get in touch either by dm or via [email protected] for more information on training services provided.

I wonder what the view's like from up there? This is the very handsome Sky who's in for starting. He had his first ride on Thursday and yes, at his height it was a bit of a stretch in my wranglers to reach the stirrup!

Introducing Mac & Saracen!!

At the moment I can't help but smile when I come down onto the yard in the mornings and if you were to see these two peeking over the door, looking for some breakfast, you would smile too.

I truly think everyone should have a Shetland (or two) in their lives, at one time or another.

These two little guys are in for some groundwork and handling, with the aim to make them as child proof as possible!

Although as the saying goes; "Shetlands love children... They just can't eat a whole one."

Curiosity maybe have killed the cat, but it does help the horse trainer.

When it comes to obstacles, such as water. A curious horse will look to investigate and figure out where to put their feet. This often comes in the form of pawing, sniffing and generally checking out what is put in front of them.

This is Bennie, a cheeky chap, who is in for starting. His curious, bold nature makes overcoming obstacles incredibly easy for him.

It's been pretty quiet on social media for a while... I've been flat out on the yard and we've had this little project on the go. Big shout out to Ru who came all the way down from Scotland to spend a few days following me around with a camera and then many hours putting this together - we're pretty pleased with the result!

Featuring Ace the dog, Maya, Bennie, Parker, Huckleberry, Ellie, Edie, Steady and Scally with a cheeky cameo from Breeze, Raven and Banjo :P

Bentley strutting his stuff around a little obstacle course this morning. He's in for some tricky 'rushy' behaviour and can be quite sharp to ride. As you can see, he took everything in his stride despite it being nearly 30 degrees already! ☀️☀️

I'm really enjoying working with my own project horse, Edie, who's a really exciting Polocrosse prospect. She's spent the last six weeks turned away in the paddock but it's now time for the next block of her education. I can't wait to see what she's got!

Having spent an amazing couple of weeks back at home and having shared a couple photos of the ponies. I was sent this from my gran. I did say at one point I needed helping getting on McLennon and here's proof! Same horse, same jockey, just 16 years difference.

He may have been no angel but I have to credit him and many other horses & ponies at home for giving me a bit of stickability

The three amigos! It's always nice to go home and catch up with all the ponies. These three little trouble makers have been there from the start and although they may be short in height they don't think so. The first gentleman is McLennon and belive it or not one day I needed help getting on him.

Really impressed with the transformation of the arena back home in Scotland! All the work they've put in over lockdown really shows, their riding school is now back open for business with clients coming back today for lessons. Can't wait to see it for myself!

Just come in from rolling the brand new outdoor arena ready for tomorrow. After a day of torrential rain the arena is bone dry and ideal to ride on. And it's a lovely evening to boot to admire our beautiful new arena.

This is what makes it all worth it and a picture can often speak a thousand words.

George is a New Forest who came to me with a pretty nervy streak and very much an "I'm out of here" attitude when it came to riding and anything that could take him by surprise. Today was Ellie's (his owner's) first ride back on him. Usually I like for a first ride to be a nice quiet hack where owner and horse can become reacquainted with each other without much hassle. Coming up against a forklift, cows, an artic lorry and a tractor that was hedging trimming wasn't the quiet hack I was expecting! However, George and Ellie took it all in their stride and did everything right to make it back safe, sound and happy. I'd like to say if they can handle that then their partnership has a bright future.

Here's what Ellie had to say:

"Over the moon with how today went with George. We went on a hack and Hamish was coaching me the entire time so I always felt in control. It was amazing and such a huge confidence boost to be on him out hacking, feel so chilled and see him enjoying himself and chilling out too. 😁❤️ "

Steve looking dapper in the new halters. He came to me with issues mounting and general nervousness when ridden. After two weeks he's cruising along, enjoying a variety of adventures including polocrosse! Little bit longer and he'll be on his way back home a changed man.

So this is it... happy horses munching hay ready for their first day of training tomorrow. Very excited to crack on with this next chapter, even if it does involve mucking out!

Just wanted to take the opportunity to say a massive thank you to everyone that's supported me with this new venture. It's a big confidence boost to have such a great support network, especially in these slightly uncertain times!

Of course, this would have been so much harder without the backing of Jason and the rest of the team at Your Horsemanship, Jason Webb. Penny and Jason have been fab, giving me a helping hand with all the 'behind the scenes' stuff and providing a platform from which I could start advertising my own training.

I'm proud to be an Associate Trainer to Your Horsemanship, Jason's taught me so much over the last few years and although things might be slightly different I'm looking forward to working alongside him just as we have up til now.

I first came down South to chase a girl, stayed for some work experience, bought a dog and have now ended up with my own business...funny how these things turn out!
