I’m an award-winning former army dog handler and dog trainer, with 43-years-experience, and can help you communicate with your dog to transform your pet. ith one-to-one training in your own home or on walks nearby, following Government Covid-19 Guidelines, I’ll focus on teaching you, the dog owner, to better understand your dog and improve your communication with them, so your pet becomes a better dog, a more sociable animal, more obedient and a pleasure to be around for both for you and other people. Every dog is as individual as each human and we offer a bespoke, private dog training service for each pet owner who asks for our help, whatever your age and whether you own a pup, a rescue animal or a working dog, wherever you live in Essex. I only use humane dog training techniques that are internationally approved to train dogs to:
Walk nicely on a lead,
Refrain from pulling,
Stop jumping up,
Come when called,
Retrieve,
Drop,
Leave
Be calm
Refrain from aggressive behaviour patterns. There are lots of different methods for training dogs and all have a place, but some work better than others; the skill is knowing which would work best for each individual dog. I prefer to reward by praise and the pitch in my voice. Whether I use treats or clickers etc. or not, depends on the dog and whether or not I consider it would be beneficial. Hi All
Regretfully, I’m going to cancel training this Thursday evening in light of current events.
Hopefully, we can get started again in two or three weeks time - government guidelines permitting.

So, continue the good work you are all doing, and remember repetition, perseverance and most of all patience.

Please call me if you need any advice in the meantime, that what I’m here for and it’s great to hear any feedback.

I’d like to wish all my doggy friends old and new a very Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.

Hi All
Training nights will start again next week.
Thursday nights will be just for GSD’s and Fridays for other breeds.
Same criteria as before except was thinking of starting at 1930 for an a hour.
Training will be at mine in Feering so initially will have to limit spaces.
Let me know your views .

Currently I'm looking after a four-months-old German Shepherd whose owners have asked me to train. I took the pup out in the snow yesterday with my dogs and they had a great time. If you would like me to work with you and your dog, message me or call me on: 07973 493 422.

A couple came to ask for my help who were having behaviour issues with their two German Shepherd dogs. The first dog was continuously barking at other dogs. After speaking with the couple, I established that they were rewarding it for barking. I asked the couple to put the dog in a situation where there was nothing to make the dog want to bark, in order for the couple to only reward the dog when it didn’t bark. I told the owners to make their dog sit and stay and not to move until the dog was quiet. The dog quickly realised that this good behaviour was what it would be rewarded for. The second German Shepherd was being aggressive as the owners had been letting the dog off its lead. I identified that the dog had been trying to establish its own territory. I recommended the owners to go back to basics and teach the dog to be calm among other dogs and that it needed to sit and stay when it was told. After doing this, the dog’s aggression soon dissipated. Both dogs are much better behaved now. #dogtraining #colchesterdogtrainer #puppytraining
