We have found some beautiful places for keeping cool in this hot weather 👌🏻🌳💦

At The Home of Hounds we will continue to start our walks earlier in the day, stick to shady areas, with plenty of water play and ensure fun enrichment games to keep our furry friends stimulated and having fun while keeping safe in the heat ☀️🐾

🚐 While travelling around our van keeps the dogs nice and cool with air conditioning, water is always available and a nice refreshing shower is always given at the end of walks 🩵

We loved taking 3 beautiful spaniel’s to their owners wedding at the weekend 💍🤍🐾

The weather was so beautiful and ensured no muddy paw prints went onto the brides lovely dress ☀️

They were all so excited when they saw her arrive at the church 🐾

It’s been a super muddy few weeks 🦮🥾🐾 It’s made our walks great fun 🌟 As the dogs have enjoyed all the flood water, rolling in the mud and going crazy in all the wind and heavy rain 👌🏻

Today is PDWA National Dog Walker Appreciation Day so here's a Shout Out for all the wonderful professional dog walkers out there! 👏👏👏💙🐾

“You are just a dog walker!” – we get told this all the time!!!

In actual fact, we are so much more!

We are trusted guardians who bond, exercise and enrich a dog’s life in all weather!

We enable owners to work or socialise with the knowledge their dog is exercised safely if they themselves have no time, energy or are too poorly to do so themselves.

Not just walks ! We provide enrichment and quality time.

We give owners peace of mind their dog’s welfare is paramount and adapt our days to ensure this during inclement weather for example.

We risk assess constantly but if an accident does happen we are first aid trained to look after dogs in our care.

We keep up to date with PSPO’s, Dog Law etc.

We build relationships with our dogs and know their “normal” so we can recognise changes such as tummy troubles, new lumps, different gait or mood etc., and report them swiftly.

We learn as much as we can about canine communication, seasonal hazards, breed traits and find suitable outlets for each one where we can.

Many of us go on to become groomers, pet nutritionists, trainers, behaviourists, pet photographers etc.

We love the dogs in our care. We laugh at their antics, we worry when they are poorly and we cry when we lose them.

We are so much more than “just a walker” and never doubt that.

The start of September 🌟 It’s been lovely to get groups back together…it’s like the Summer apart didn’t happen ❤️ They all have such wonderful friendships 🐶

The Home of Hounds has a couple of spaces available on a Wednesday and Thursday for a group walk…give me a message if your hound would love to be out in the country side with lots of furry friends 🐾

Exciting news 🌟

Cindy (my Mum) has joined The Home of Hounds 🐾

She has completed her dog first aid training, is DBS checked and insured.

Which means The Home of Hounds will be able to offer more walks on a Wednesday and Thursday 🐶
