***The Big Announcement!***
I am over the moon to be able to say - Rather Fetching now offers UltraSound teeth cleaning!
Ultrasound teeth cleaning uses high frequency soundwaves to destroy bacteria in the mouth, giving a full mouth clean. There are two settings, ultrasound with ultra sonic oscillations, and for more sensitive dogs there is a silent, vibration free high frequency only mode which still delivers deep cleaning power.
I will be starting the service from the New Year.
I have the mantra of ‘learn something new every day’ and since placing my order for the teeth cleaning equipment, I have paid a lot more attention to my clients teeth and have been slightly horrified! I have found some bad gnashers on unsuspecting dogs.
Studies show that 80% of dogs in the UK have some level of dental disease by the age of 3. This is, to me, a shocking fact! What else shocked me is that severe dental disease can reduce a dogs life expectancy by up to 2 years.
That’s why I have invested in the equipment and training to be able to offer teeth cleaning.
The teeth cleaning service is generally suitable for most dogs, however there will unfortunately be occasions where the condition of the dogs teeth will be too bad to be able to work on - this will then be a recommendation to visit a veterinary professional, which can be a very costly and uncomfortable visit to the vets, so it is definitely best to prevent your dogs teeth from getting to this stage.
Keeping on top of your dogs teeth with this method of cleaning is much less invasive compared to a vet visit. During a vet visit the dog will often need sedating (which has its risks, especially with older dogs) and the method for cleaning is much harsher.
There are several options/plans for this, which can be discussed at your next groom.
Alternatively, feel free to message me with your enquiries, however - a basic breakdown of services are -
10 Minute consultation/inspection - FREE with any groom (this too must be prebooked)
30 Minute initial session, this is required for dogs with any plaque build up or gum issues. £35
15 Minute maintenance session which is generally recommended every 4-8 weeks (generally with every groom) £20 with a groom or £25 when booked separately.
It is possible that a dog may need 3-5 30 minute sessions to bring the teeth to a good enough standard to reduce the cleans to 15 minutes per visit.
Block bookings are available and recommended and they come with a discount!
There is so much info on dogs dental health, far too much for one post, but let’s just say - dogs shouldn’t have smelly breath! So let’s do our best to reduce that 80% as much as we can so our lovely dogs can lead longer happier lives.
Thanks for taking the time to read through this and taking interest in your dogs dental health.
