A little update on Bella: as some of you know (and for those I haven’t seen around lately), Bella ate something she shouldn’t have, and it got stuck in her gut. Unfortunately, she had to have surgery earlier this week to remove it. There’s a photo of the foreign object for those curious!
It’s been a bit of a rough ride since then, with plenty of trips to the vet to keep an eye on her. Right now, it seems like she’s having a bit of a reaction to the antibiotics, but we’re hoping that switching meds will help with her swollen eyes.
We had a 4 a.m. blood test and scan this morning, and thankfully everything looks fine, though she’s still in a lot of discomfort. Just wanted to update you all, as I know I’m there to shoe your horse, but more often than not, you’re really there to see my dogs! 😄

🐴✨A Short Story About Bruce, Helping Your Farrier, and Teamwork🐴✨

Meet Bruce, the best-prepared horse in town and an up-and-coming superstar!

When I arrived, Bruce was all set for a smooth and safe shoeing session. His attentive owner had him tied up, hooves picked out, and fly spray applied (with extra on standby just in case 🦟). All this in the sweltering 30°C heat! 🌞

On top of that, I was greeted with an iced coffee and a cooling dog bath for my hot farrier dogs 🐶💦. Talk about thoughtful touches!

Bruce is not just a joy to work with but is also making strides in the competition circuit. He and his rider are becoming a brilliant team, having won their section for the 80 eventing area qualifier, qualified in the 80 showjumping, and placed 8th in dressage. They’ve qualified in all three disciplines for regionals at Rectory Farm. Go Team Mitchell!! 🏆

A big thank you to Bruce and his owner for making my job easier in not-so-easy working temperatures. His feet have come a long way in the year I have known Bruce. Honestly, these simple touches make a very busy working period so much more straightforward, helping me stay on time, work safely, and maintain a high level of service. Carlsberg don’t do clients, but if they did... 😉

Whipped up some laminitic clogs for a very large horse. Don’t think manufacturers make them big enough off the shelf.

8x8 inches of moisture resistant MDF. 2x 3/4” thick pieces glued together to create enough structural integrity and material to shape into clog mechanics.
