Gino has settled perfectly in the last few weeks💙The rest of the herd are chuffed that the paddocks are now dry enough for them to be out grazing again . You can certainly tell that Lulu is fast approaching her foaling window 🤞🏻

We are thrilled to introduce Balnuith Giovedi (Gino) , who has joined us from Scotland. He is 8 months old, but hopefully he will eventually take over as our herd sire in the future when he reaches maturity. He is very affectionate and has settled extremely well into the Beechward herd 💕

Clemmie’s halter training is going very well, she will happily walk alongside her mum - but sometimes still runs into the back of your legs!

My wonderful Dad has increased the hard standing area for the donkeys over the summer and added shiny new gates. This will help us massively through the winter months when sometimes our paddocks just get too wet for us to be able to turn the donkeys out. 💕

Clemmie is developing a lovely personality- she cannot get enough attention and cuddles 💕 it’s becoming harder to take a photograph of her as she likes to be as close as possible to you!

Clemmie is the fifth foal that Purdy has had with us and she had one prior to us owning her, so she is an old hand at being a mum. Unfortunately in 2015, Purdy had to have a c-section when the foal died either just before or during labour. She recovered tremendously and went on to have Dudley in 2017 with no problems and today delivered Clemmie with no complications.
At one point this morning, it looked as though one of the legs may be bent back, as only one foot and the head appeared. Dad stepped in, but the other leg was only slightly behind and was thankfully not bent back. With a little pull, Clemmie arrived into the world 💕

This morning at 10am, we welcomed Beechward Clementine (Clemmie). Purdy had a quick foaling and mum and foal are both doing well. Purdy was soon pushing Clemmie towards me, letting her know that she can trust us 💕

Meet the herd - Silverhall Poppit (Poppy)

Poppy is a 9 year old, dark brown Jenny who stands at 33 1/2 inches. She is very inquisitive, likes to chew things she shouldn’t and absolutely loves to roll. She adores being brushed - she push the other donkeys out of the way to get to the brush and will tap you with her hoof if you stop brushing!

A throw back to 8 years ago today, when Juniper’s first foal Pixie was very tiny! Pixie still remains the smallest foal we’ve ever had!

Meet the herd - Juniper

Newton Juniper is a 14 year old , grey dun miniature donkey. Juniper is the smallest donkey in the herd, standing at a tiny 29inches. She certainly takes life at her own pace and does nothing in a hurry! She is very gentle and placid with a laid back personality. She has a very close bond with her half-sister, Purdy - when Purdy gave birth to her last foal, it was born in the sack; before we could reach her to save the foal, Juniper was on hand to tear the water sack!
Juniper’s foals are usually very tiny, standing at only 18inches!

Meet the herd - Jesse James

Jesse James is a 23 year old sorrel miniature donkey. Jesse James has sired all of the foals that have been born on the farm since 2011 when we bought the herd. Jesse descends from Canada and has also lived in the USA, Ireland and Cumbria, before coming to Cheshire to live with us. He is a gentle, loveable, laid back donkey, who sires fantastic foals.

My name is Becky and I have a herd of five miniature Mediterranean donkeys in the centre of Cheshire. I have been breeding miniature donkeys since 2011 and I currently have 4 breeding jennets and a herd sire. I aim to successfully breed from 2 jennets each year; these foals become available for sale and can move to their new home when they are weaned at six months old.
