PawFit Veterinary Physiotherapy hosted Canine First Aid Workshops - UK - Rachel Bean RVN today teaching us Canine Emergency First Aid.

Rachel runs regular first aid courses across the UK, as well as online. She covers all the basic first aid every dog owner and professional should know. The course was very thorough, with up to date information provided in an interactive way with lots of real life examples. Would highly recommend! 🐾

Working within such an open minded team means we can provide a well rounded approach to recovery and rehab. Very lucky to work with some amazing people!

We work alongside many veterinary physiotherapists not just for orthopaedic diseases but for soft tissue injuries also!

Here is one of the lovely PawFit Veterinary Physiotherapy team members, Kate providing Thanos with his laser therapy during his physiotherapy session.

We have the pleasure of having the Pawfit team
On site twice weekly now! Speak to one of our referral vets to see if your pet can benefit from physio! 💜

Yesterday, team PawFit spent a very busy day at Crufts! 🐾

A massive congratulations to everyone competing and taking part over the weekend, it is a huge achievement. This year PawFit saw our lovely clients compete in flyball, obedience, and agility.

As always we are so lucky to be able to support so many fantastic dogs, and help keep them on best form. Roll on next year! 💪

An interesting article on the link between Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (also knows as dog dementia) and osteoarthritis in older dogs.

If you are noticing behavioural changes in your older dogs (sleeping patterns, toileting inside, confusion, anxiety) it is worth discussing with your vet, as there are things that can be done to help ❤️

Disentangling and managing the effects of canine cognitive dysfunction (CCD) and other comorbidities in ageing dogs is essential

He’s been an angel to us all at the PawFit practice, and is making brilliant progress. His fractures are steadily healing and he’s gaining confidence using his front legs correctly again.

3 years with the best team ❤️

You can find me at PawFit Veterinary Physiotherapy on Tuesdays and Fridays, and every other Wednesday. We also run a clinic at Eden Vets, where I work every other Thursday.

🐾 Meet the Team 🐾

Kate has been a member of PawFit since February 2021 as one of our Veterinary Physiotherapists. She holds a Masters degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy, as well as professional membership of both the NAVP and AHPR. In 2024 she will be completing her Level 4 certificate in Canine Hydrotherapy.

Kate is based at our Whitchurch branch, but also works alongside Heather at our weekly clinic within Eden Veterinary Referrals. This has been a brilliant opportunity to work closely with specialist professionals, and rehab lots of interesting cases.

At home, Kate spends her time gundog training with her Korthals Griffon dog Fenna, as well as hacking out her Connemara pony Harvey.

Superstar! 🤩 Big congratulations to Laura and Winston! They have both worked very hard this last year and it’s definitely payed off 👏

A massive Congratulations to Winston who earned his Advanced Flyball Award at the Indoor Championships along with becoming a Divisional Champion for the second year in a row.
Winston has come along way and absolutely loves the sport with his confidence so high and after a lot of fitness work from Laura even his times are getting faster. He always knows when Laura's got a light and is back in line ready to go again even though he thinks he knows better than Laura where to line up.
Congratulations Winston you deserve this award.

Thank you to all my family, friends and clients for listening to me complain about it for the best part of three years 🤣 I couldn’t have done it without all the support ❤️

Always love seeing a post physio snooze 🥰

This is Bailey chilling after his massage and LASER therapy today 😴 We are working alongside Bailey’s vets to support his elbow osteoarthritis, and keep him as mobile and pain free as possible.

Bailey is a lively boy, even at 9 years old! So reducing his exercise and keeping him calm while he has been sore has been tricky. Luckily, he has a very dedicated mum keeping an eye on him!

Use of PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy to aid in healing turtles with traumatic injuries 💙

Use of PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy to aid in healing turtles with traumatic injuries 💙

At the beginning of this year, our veterinary team introduced new therapies that enhance our ability to treat our patients, which we will be sharing over the next few months. 🧑‍⚕️🐢

One of these therapies is called regenerative medicine, which uses a precision-based, molecular approach to treating injury and disease. Here, a regenerative medicine technique called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy is being administered to one of our patients, Zeliya. PRP Therapy uses the components of our patient’s own blood, and is processed in a novel way that has been developed by our veterinarians to ‘activate’ the blood’s healing properties. This activation process promotes significantly improved healing, and is particularly effective in treating trauma from entanglements in marine debris and fractures.

Zeliya is the first sea turtle in the Maldives and the first olive ridley sea turtle in the world to be treated with PRP Therapy. 🙌
