I’ve agreed to take at least 100 hens on Saturday and very aware tomorrows Wednesday 🤭

These girls are from a huge barn and the weekend is their last chance to be saved

If you can help me save them please get in touch.

Due to the short notice, anyone who’s on my waiting list please do message me and let me know if you’d still like some.

Comments can be missed so please message the page with how many you’d like and set up Phobos if you haven’t had any from me recently

I will take more if I can get homes for more 🧡

I am taking 7 turkeys to a rescue. I’ve got a trailer but it’s so big and heavy so trying to find an alternative. its 2.5 hours away in a car so will be much more with that old rust bucket 😩😩

Alternatively if anyone is going north and fancies more than a few gobble gobbles as company please let me know 😂😂😂

💜APPEAL 💜

Sadly the time has come where we are going to need some help.

We’ve been really struggling financially, but we’ve been determined not to close our doors to those who need us most. Luckily with a few donations coming in we have kept afloat but it’s now become critical

Just to give you an idea, we have done 197 rescue journeys since January this year totalling a whopping 25,246 miles

We set ourselves a limit of an hour travelling to a rescue which is about a 100 mile round trip. This is where we fail quite often as we struggle to say no

Unfortunately as most of you know, the animals that need our help tend to need catching so this is the main expense of our rescue, followed by food, bedding and medication

I know times are tough for everyone but without the kindness and compassion of our followers we will not be able to continue like this, we just can’t cope. November was fairly stable last year but December was manic which is what scares us

If you can help with a donation to help to keep us going it would be massively appreciated

If you cannot help financially, please do share our posts and like our page as this will help us with much needed exposure within the social media world.

We also have boys here looking for homes which will clear space for others needing our help

Thanks so much for reading

Clocks only went back Sunday and we are being caught out already!!

We had a call yesterday about some chickens on the side of a busy road. This always fills us with dread and my first reaction is to get there as soon as possible but during the day I’m hard at work to pay for these little monsters!!

Luckily for us the lovely lady Jacqueline who saw them stayed with them from about 3pm until it got dark!!

Jacqueline and her hubby did everything we do. A crate, a lead and a sexy hen and yet they were scared of the hen???? Then it dawns on me ……Oh no ……. They must be girls!!

I love cockerel rescues, most boys are very predictable. We know exactly what we are dealing with. Girls are clever little cow bags and as with human ladies, their attitudes change depending on what day they’ve had 😂

To add to the fun the chickens were game birds so they can fly quite well as they are so light. Meaning when they go to roost they usually go high!!

Jacqueline watched them until they go to roost, once they were off the floor and In a tree they were safe so she went and grabbed a cuppa at home and waited for me. Fearing the worst I messaged Tegan and Liz who agreed to meet me. Strength in numbers for if it goes wrong. When stuff like this goes wrong, it goes wrong to the extreme!

On first look it didn’t seem too bad. One was about 4ft up, 2 were just above head height and one was in a prickle push a bit further in. However the issue was there was a huge ditch below them meaning, although they didn’t seem that high, a 5ft ditch made it pretty tricky.

Assuming they would jump and being next to a busy road not long after rush hour, we fenced round them to slow them down a bit if they did jump.

Tegan grabbed the first one without much problem. An old little hen with scaly face mites and spurs. Spurs are quite normal for game birds and I think this is also because she is a very old hen. Clearly not working for the owner anymore 😢

Next up was the one deep inside the prickle bush, I was in the ditch and Tegan was on top, the other ladies kept en eye on the other two with nets in case anyone made a run for it!! We managed to get closer and closer, Tegan went to grab and I was directly the other side in case she launched forward. Got her!! A little grey hen no bigger than a partridge

Unfortunately Tegan was now stuck and had to be rescued by Liz and Jacqueline. That’s the problem with these rescues. Adrenaline gets you in but then you’re screwed 😂

We clearly saved the best until last. Two left who are now fully awake and irritated by all the noise and lights. They start to go higher and they are already pretty high!!

Both Tegan and I are now in the ditch and we get handed the ladder. Tegan is small and light so she always goes up as she knows full well I will hold her up and never let her fall, she runs up it with not a care in the world which is a lot of pressure to keep her safe!! She’s literally on top of the ladder and she could just grab the leg of the first one which she hands her down to me

My heart is always in my mouth thinking the last one will jump any second. The girls are ready with nets though so we had all bases covered !!

Tegan just about managed it full stretch on her tiptoes and hands the final hen down to me. I’m now holding two hens, a step ladder on a slope and a Tegan!! 😳 jeeeeesus!!! 🤦‍♀️

Everyone is safe 🎉🎉🎉

Team work literally makes the dream work 🧡

Why are people dumping girls. One little old one and 3 grey youngsters? I don’t understand 🤷‍♀️🙄

Update on the Wakefield boy from yesterday afternoon

After waiting all day for a sighting, he finally showed his face in someone’s garden around 2.30pm. Sadly he was 90 minutes from FPC so I was pushing it with the light

To say I rushed over before the light went was an understatement 🙄🤦‍♀️

When I arrived he was mooching in someone’s back garden, being closely guarded by a lovely couple and lovely lady who made sure he didn’t disappear before I arrived

I Quickly got Emmy out followed by the trap and as soon as I showed him I had corn and a sexy girl he came running 🎉 within a few minutes Mr predictable was in the crate and we were heading home

Happy Sunday everyone xx

Anyone else find themselves sneaking into their animals just so they don’t get mobbed 🤣🤣

22/10/2024

We are putting the feelers out for an ultra special home for these two babies

Hippo was a lucky hen who escaped the slaughter man by hiding. She’s very bald so will need lots of rehab and love. She will not be able to go outside yet unless we have a warm and sunny day and that’s only for a few hours as she feels the cold a lot

We also have Gracie who was found roosting on a car. We believe she’s fallen off a commercial lorry on the way to an egg farm. Gracie is only a point of lay and is very nervous but is probably top hen

These two do everything together. They find their strength within eachother so they must stay as a pair.

They must not be put with other hens so they would need their own space until hippo is fully feathered which may take months. They have been through so much and need time to decompress and chill with as much yummy food and snoozing time as they want 🥰

I’m more than happy to keep them as long as they need, however, they are effectively 2 healthy girls who will flourish given the time and care that they need so If we can find somewhere suitable, it will give us space for the next ones who need our help

If you would like to show interest in this beautiful pair, please do give us a shout 🧡🧡

We always say to people we will help whether it’s 1 or 1000 and today was no different.

We have been called out a few times to Scarborough to help some stray hens in a car park. We believe they have got out or have been let out of a local farm. We haven’t had any for a while but today I had a message from my eagle eye spy that a little madam was next to his car trying to get in!! We agreed he was going to try and catch the friendly hen, but 20 minutes later he calls and it’s clear she has given him the run around!!

As most of you know I work full time so day time rescues aren’t possible for me. I called Tegan to see if she was free and luckily she was up for the 175 mile round trip!! 😨

When she arrived the little girl was mooching round a dustbin, pecking for scraps. She was clearly watching Tegan set up the cage and as soon as she put food in she came running over and went straight in, no fear whatsoever 🧡

This is good for us but running up to unknown people (and those with dogs) is not good. If you remember I found 2 hens in a dustbin here still alive!!!!

This little girl is extremely lucky and a huge thanks to Tegan for giving up her whole day for another nutters edition

I have to say though, Tegan is a bit of a wrongen and does love a bit of a chase to get the adrenaline going 😂😂 it was a slight anti climax for her but she got the job done 🎉🧡🥰👏

Here’s hoping she lays golden eggs as that’s an expensive chicken!! 😂😂

Look at Crystals progress 🧡

The slaughter man went to clear the farm and grabbed her wing breaking it in two places, including her shoulder. But she got away!!!! Her wing was strapped and then she had to wear a little onesie to hold the wing in place to repair the shoulder.

She’s been with our disabled girls as I always thought she’d have a droopy wing but she has done so well and after physio she now has full use of it 🥰

We had a pair of hens who stay here on their holidays and sadly one has passed away 💔 the other girl is another FPC rehab hen called violet so it seems right that Crystal could be her new friend! It’s similar to match making!! I know both personalities so I’m hoping it will be a match made in heaven 🤞

We’ve had a busy few days here at FPC

A few nights ago there was a post on one of the Retford pages about a little hen outside LIDL. For whatever reason she was picked up and moved (?) luckily for her she had the instinct to go high and was found perching on a car in a local car garage and was found by the owner when he left work around 10pm.

He got her safe and I collected the following day. She’s a tiny little grower hen and I reckon she’s fallen off a lorry on the way from a grower farm to an egg farm 🥺 she was so scared when I put her in the stable, she would not move a muscle. I’ve recently had a little bald hen in whos very friendly so we put them together.

Her name is Hippo and she immediately started making noises and encouraging the little grower now named Gracie over to the food showing her where it is. I’ve never actually seen anything so beautiful 😍

Later that day I get a call about a cockerel wandering round scothern but I couldn’t get there until quite late in the day so the lovely lady said she would wait with him to make sure we knew where he was going to bed. As I arrived, the boy was in a ladies front garden still mooching. He was so friendly, I could almost pick him up, but I got the trap and my hen Olive out just in case.

Within seconds he was in and we was on our way home 🙂

We have also been over to Derbyshire to collect some lucky ladies who have now been replaced by some point of lay hens 😞 we went to see the point of lay girls and eagle eye Tegan noticed a little hen with wry neck. ‘Can we have her’ she said to the farmer giving the cutest look I’ve ever seen 😂. He hesitated for a second but then she continues to talk 😂😂 ‘she will die anyway but we can fix her’

Of course he said yes and they both went in and caught her 🥰

Today we will be rehoming these lucky girls in what seems like a pretty wet and windy day but not to worry, there’s not bad weather just inappropriate clothing 😂😂

Will we get through Sunday without another call? 🤔🤔

I literally love this woman, shes raised so much money for FPC and she’s desperate to get to 2k followers!!

Facebook and their algorithms really aid small businesses when they have a following over a certain number

Please please please help me to make this happen for her.
