Dottie's adventures.....

This evening Dottie came to the stables and helped with the evening feeds, Bella wanted to eat her and Cleo wasn't too sure 🤣

After a few snorts we managed to get a little and large selfie.

Dottie has decided the horses are thirsty work and after guzzling her milk when we got home is now fast asleep 😴 oh to be a lamb without a care in the world 😂

Nothing gets better than finding a very very late new born lamb in the field at the end of may!

On Tuesday whilst I was in Slovenia for work Gavin called to say this little one had made a suprise appearance. 🥰

Whilst her mum is more interested in grass and has abandoned her, the dogs have accepted her into their pack 🤣

Friday night fun in the garden and sofa snuggles with a bottle of warm milk it was for us.

Does life get much better than this? I don't think so 😘

I've been splitting my time between the Farm and where the horses now live.

We all know how much I love a project or 2!

This weekend we resurfaced the Menage to make it a bit more springy.

The sheep went down to the bottom paddock for the first time this year and the cows..... well they decide themselves where they want to graze. 😂

Serenna took the ride on mower out and topped the nettles at home and the chickens have been back free ranging.

We've been doing lots of riding and spending time with the horses too.

After 7 weeks box rest Bella finally went back out in the paddock.

These long weekends are perfect for getting jobs done and next weekend I'll be back fencing again. 💪

Another weekend has flown by and as always a busy one it was.

To finally see the sun today was the perfect way to finish the weekend I was told its been the wettest since 1981 😑

The cows finally went out in the paddock after a few days in their stable (they are fair weather cows)

Serenna and Amme went on their first hack, a short ride to the pub for a drink and a ride back on Saturday and a little jump this morning to finish off the weekend. I couldn't ask more of these 2 even if I wanted to!

I'm hoping the sun shines all week so I can let the lambs out on Friday for their first taste of grass 🙌

The weekends seem to fly by at the minute.

And despite the dramatic weather I managed to ride Bella and have my favourite lamb cuddles.

The cows aren't too keen on the snow and rain and happily decided on a pj day both Friday and Saturday.

Friday morning Serennas Ewe Annabelle had a ewe Lamb called Ella.

To be back riding my own horse really is a dream, despite several consultants/specialists telling me i would never farm let alone ride again makes me realise I'm smashing it 🥰

Next challenge..... get the husband on a horse 🤣

Yesterday afternoon Gavin called me whilst I was in a meeting.

3 little lambs had appeared in the main part of the poly tunnel 🤣

After some investigation it appears we had a set of twins (tup and ewe) and a single tup lamb.

Gavin did an amazing job of penning them up (whilst being head butted by shady 🤣) they are now in separate pens for a few days to allow mum and babies to settle and bond before going into the nursery pen with the other 3 hooligans 😆

Serenna and Emma then did checks to ensure they were all feeding and happy with the right mum.

So we have Teddy and Ellen. And our single tup is called Samson.

Whilst my workload is rather large at the minute to say the least I'm hoping it makes the next 48 hours go super quick so I can have cuddles. 🥰

My Ewes really are such amazing girls and fantastic mums.

Thanks team for another eventful Tuesday... we are officially half way through 😘

After saying hello to the dogs when I got home from the airport, I decided I couldn't wait till the morning to meet the new arrival....

So late night "Spotty" cuddles I had! I don't think I've ever seen a Tup lamb so big!

Elsa gave me a "baa" and nuzzled my face too. I love this Ewe, the connection we have is so special ❤️

So today "Spotty" made an appearance this morning. Spotty is from Elsa another big tub lamb for the farm 🥰Lamb no.2 🙌

I finally decided to take a "well deserved" break from my day job last week and spent the time at home with the animals.

We successfully moved the horses to the new farm and I've been riding Bella every day with the help from my long term friend and best trainer Shelly.

Serenna has been riding Amme and whilst she's been challenging Serenna I've really seen her progress. I even heard her growl and tell Amme off yesterday! 🤣 for anyone who knows Serenna knows this is a challenge in its self!

Valentino and Star are nicely settled in the PolyTunnel whilst my 9 other mums to be are hanging on tightly.

Today in-between work and Lamb checks I've tried to give all the animals cuddles before I fly back to Vienna tomorrow. I think Rodney enjoyed them the most 😆

Happy Tuesday all and ill keep you updated on any lamb action.

This pony hadn't been worked in 5 years. On Sunday I taught serenna how to lunge.

Monday she lunged and then I lunged her on amme.

Tuesday she lunged and trotted off the lunge.

Today she didn't need me at all!

Shes built a strong bond with this pony over the last 2 years in the stable and today something just clicked.

Whilst it's not perfect I think she's done bloody amazing! Including sitting the spook and buck just before I took this video!

I think the next few months will be very exciting for them both. 🥰

The serect is finally out!

Welcome to the newest adventure of our farming journey!

I am so lucky to have been given the opportunity to take on the yard and the land and looking forward to the months ahead.

The cows and sheep will still remain at home but the horses will move next weekend 🤩🤩🤩🤩

I can't believe this time last year we had babies 🥰

I'm hoping in the next few weeks the girls will start to lamb, although I must say this year I am the most un organised 🤣

I miss the iodine stained hands, the 2 hourly night time checks but most of all the mental buzz of what comes with the whole part of lambing.

Even working away I still get to play my part when Gavin and Serenna lead from home. 🤩

Looking forward to some not to far away Lamb cuddles 😚

We have some exciting few weeks ahead of us and I can't wait to share with you all where this year's adventures will take us. 🤪

What another amazing year its been for us!

I don't think I can pin point one particular memory from 2022 that was my favourite or my worst day and I'm sure Serenna would say the same!

We've expanded our knowledge, increased our flocks, and expanded on our breeds. 🤪

I love every second of everyday I get to spend at home with the animals, each and everyone brings a different piece of personality and love that makes us D&G.

If 2023 can give even 50% of 2022 then I know we will have an awesome year ahead of us.

Thank you as always to each and everyone of you for all your support throughout the year, I hope you've enjoyed our shenanigans as much as we have.

Much love to you all and a happy and healthy new year xx

Its safe to say we are now ready for Christmas.

Rodney and I took advantage of some spare time today and had some fun with the camera.

Considering a week ago he was in a field with limited human interaction I would think its fair to say he's settled in really well.

Its certainly never a dull moment on the farm and having fun with the animals is one of my favourite things on a Sunday.

Today was project "clean up s**t"

Due to so much rain, the poly tunnel clearance had been a no go until this morning where the heavy frost and - 6 degrees allowed us to get the JCB in the paddock without doing too much damage.

This was one of those jobs I knew I'd regret starting but had to be done, and the last 10ft x 18ft was done by hand because the reach on the JCB was not long enough!

16 bucket loads later, blisters on my hands I am pleased to say we are now ready for lambing!

I think its fair to say I'll sleep well tonight!

Well the day is finally here!

Welcome to the Farm Esme and Rodney 🥰🥰🥰

Rodney has already had his first stroke and leg rub whilst Esme is more shy. I'm hoping as the days go pass their confidence will grow around us 🙏

Its been a mad weekend finishing off "the cow shed" (omg something I never thought I'd say😜)

Only 3 weeks to go and it's safe to say I'm on count down!

Below is a transformation of the cow shed and some updated photos of Esme and Rodney that I was sent today (in the comment as i cant post)🥰

Team work makes dream work!

Today we made a hay rack for the calves stable from bits of wood I had been collecting throughout the year.

I love it when a plan comes together as doesn't cost any money!

We will finish the last bit of boarding out tomorrow and we will be ready for the arrival of Rodney and Esme.

I now want the next 4 weeks to hurry up 🥰

Today is national day 🥰

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and continues to do so, without you none of this would be possible!

Whilst you may argue buying British or even locally produced may be more expensive BUT.....

1.Uk farming practices are known to be some of the most sustainable and environmentally friendly in the world!

2. The UK is ranked #1 in the world for animal welfare standards. - I always say a happy animal is a tasty one 😋

I've had the best week albeit a busy one.

Afternoon tea with my oldest childhood friends of 28 years!

Serenna had her first riding competition last Saturday which was a super proud moment for me!..

The big storm last Sunday..... I think its fair to say I was saturated 🤣

Followed by a week at home spending some time with the animals, Hospital appointments and MRI scans, a trip to the vets with Jessie and of course work and teams calls.

Some of the frizzle hens went off to their new home where I can safely say they will be spoilt rotten!

I've had the BEST toad in the hole with my own sausages 😋

A few jobs on my list to complete over the next 5 weeks to ensure we are ready for this year's lambing season and the arrival of Esme and Rodney, its going to be fairly busy but im looking forward to December and spending a bit more time at home. ☺️

One more day in the UK and ill be back in Vienna on Tuesday 😝

I hope everyone has enjoyed their week as much as me 😘

I had the pleasure of meeting these little ones this morning and out of the 4 calves have picked 2 to come and live with us in December. 🥰

Having Highland cattle has always been my dream and finally that dream will become a reality in 5 weeks time.
