FORAGING
Foraging doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive. It can be a busy barrel or it can be a hessian sack filled with paper and a couple pinenuts. The key part of foraging is making sure it is something your parrot enjoys doing!

To some, this may seem adorable. Who wouldn't love little cockatiel singing to their macaw? But anyone who has followed us for a while will know Faolan (white cockatiel) had an inappropriate obsession with Corliss (military macaw). This lead to him attacking anyone who came close to her and refusing to eat or drink when he was seperated from her. Despite intense training our vet recommended he was rehomed. He now lives with Thomas and has paired with Frank. Thankfully, with the help of his bond with Frank and continual training, Faolan can now be in Corliss's presence without any issues If you're dealing with you parrot attacking people you are not alone. Like many Asiatic species Amare is quite cautious and reserved, this can often lead to fear based aggression. To combat this we do regular training on basic handling. Here Nash is playing what we like to call the 'step up' game with Amare. She steps up and gets a treat, we then repeat the process. This builds her trust and increases her confidence, it's amazing to see how far shes come. Go Amare!
