We are always trying to improve and help our incredible community that we are all building together as Very Informed Parronts. One thing that has become quite clear is that people struggle to understand parrot body language. This is no ones fault! There just isn't enough out there about it. So, thanks to the inspiration from the incredible members in our community we have decided to begin hosting webinars.

The best part? It won't be just us talking at you. It will all be a huge discussion with all the people present. We will be using your videos to help further educate everyone and therefore better the world for other parrots!

Wow, we have realised that it has been a hot minute since we actually posted about ourselves. So for all of our new followers here we are!

Hi! My name is Ola Nellies. I have a Higher National Diploma in Animal Care and a Parrot Studies and Behaviour Diploma. I also volunteer for Parrot Trust Scotland in my spare time. My main aim is to prioritise the bond you have with your parrot while also focusing on encouraging your bird to show natural behaviours through a variety of different ways. I am the free flight mentor here at SWT as I strive to offer birds as much freedom as possible - in a safe manner though!

Hey! My name is Nash Mayr. I have a Higher National Certificate in Animal Care and a Parrot Studies and Behaviour Diploma. My passion lies with improving overall care standards for captive parrots, which means educating people on their diet, natural behaviours, needs, and much more. I'm SWT's flight rehabilitation mentor as I strongly believe that birds are made to fly - so I'm here to help your birds regain their flight!

Raw and honest truth for everyone? Running a small business is hard and we desperately needed a break. Between working and running a business there isn’t a lot of time left in the day. There were times we weren’t making a lot of money and were questioning everything. Now, obviously, money shouldn’t be the centre of everything in a business, however it is a piece of the puzzle to keeping a business running and open. We tried to keep selling all of you our amazing products as cheap as we physically could, even sometimes not making enough profit off them. Sadly, we cannot drop prices anymore and our products just aren’t selling enough. We understand there are a lot of businesses out there making parrot food! This is no one’s fault. To our loyal customers, we thank you for always coming back to us. We know who you are and will forever cherish you. To customers who came and went, thank you for offering our small business a chance. You have made our tiny dream into a reality ❤️

This isn’t the end. We are still continuing with our Very Informed Parront Programme, free flight training and consultations. Our aim from the start was to improve parrot welfare and we are achieving that through our services alone, which is amazing. We have received so many beautiful reviews from people that have brought tears to our eyes. Just hearing how much we can help and support is enough for us.

This was a difficult decision for us to make but we feel it is a step in the right direction for us. There will be a clearance sale on which we will announce to everyone when we finalise it.

Again, thank you to all of our customers. We hope to see you all again. Maybe we will make food again in the future, but for now we return to our roots and aim to help even more parrots! ❤️

Our Very Informed Parront Programme was created to allow parronts to educate themselves in their own time while having a trainers advice where necessary. We are eager to stray away from the judgement that the bird community is riddled with by creating a judgement-free zone for individuals to come to and chat!
Living with some spicy 🌶️ parrots has taught us that there aren’t a lot of resources available out there for owners to learn from with lots of information being controversial! This has made us eager to created a safe space to learn from without pressure.
So if you’re looking for a place to learn more and connect with other like minded people you’ve come to the right place!

Why are we target training Sailor? Comment your thoughts below! There are no wrong answers! This was Sailor’s first ever target training sessions. I offered him the target to see if he would be curious enough to touch it but he froze. So I decided to make things a little easier for him and grab a piece of a nut as a lure. You’ll notice I never let him get the nut until he touched that target. You’ll also hear the clicker in the background as that was the very first thing we taught Sailor! This little man is beyond incredible. Given his background we cannot believe how trusting and quick he is with picking things up. Showers are incredibly important for your parrots health. A little video showing why we so strongly recommend trick training. It doesn’t just help mentally stimulate your parrot, but it can be used as an interrupt to help your bird move from one mental state to another. Corliss started off being very grumpy with me just being in her space. She woke up in a bad mood! And we all have bad days. If I walked up to her and tried to force her to step up I would have been bitten and likely broke trust! But thanks to simply asking for a few tricks her mind went from apprehension to anticipation.
