Mando turned two this weekend!
He is sporting his new collar (thanks Pippa), I gave him a wash and groom myself….. Just don’t look too close 😂
Despite immediately getting wet and messy he was a very happy boy.
Don’t know where the time has gone! It was a good reminder that training doesn’t stop after puppy class, it’s a journey. There will always be bumps along the way and new challenges and experiences to be had. So make the most of them, ongoing training, learning and trying new things builds strong bonds, trust and is rewarding for both you and your dog.

Puppy training and socialisation classes are a great way to learn your dogs body language and introduce them to the world.
We cover the basic training cues but the main focus is helping you raise a well balance social dog.
Then and now, these gorgeous girls completed our beginner puppy class and now our training and socialising outdoor class.
Training and working with your dog is an ongoing thing it’s a great way to build on your relationship, confidence and challenge them. Keeping it fun and interesting is essential. Every walk is a learning opportunity and every interaction a chance to practice something.

At Parkside Pet Services we make it our mission to help people build great relationships with their dogs. So happy to have been able to help this guy and get such great feedback;
Alex has been an absolute lifesaver and pleasure to work on our puppy with. She was extremely empathetic and understanding with addressing some communication challenges we were having. In our first session, we saw a 50% improvement in our puppy’s overall behaviour from how clear and effective Alex was with him and the consistency we backed it up with (which she made easy for us too). I can now confidently say that we not only have a very obedient puppy, but we now actually understand his personality and needs in a way we never knew before. 10/10 - can’t recommend highly enough!
Walking your dog isn’t just about getting from A to B or throwing a ball to wear them out. It’s a chance for your dog to explore the world around them and engage their nose. This not only helps fulfill some of their mental need it also builds their confidence.

Remember with day to day training little and often is best and if you or your dog aren’t feeling it in the moment do something fun and then stop.

Fantastic job in class last week. Working on eye contact, loose lead walking, recall and building on social skills. Recall is something that we definitely see a lot of people coming back and asking for help especially as puppies hit adolescence. Recall with distractions is a vital skill all dogs should learn, for their safety and the safety of others. Teaching your puppy to be calm and settled when there are lots of distractions is so useful. It not only builds their confidence but creates a good foundation for them to build on. In our classes we like to teach puppies to be around others and not engage with them. Then as they progress and build confidence we introduce supervised play. Making sure interactions are balanced and both puppies are enjoying it. I don’t mean throw a ball continuously, I mean have some fun be a big kid and hide behind a tree or duck out of their site and call them.
