Everyone here is struggling with the heat here today.
We've been....
🥵changing water every couple of hours
🥵dampening an area in the runs with cool water
🥵checking shadey spot temperature
🥵frozen water bottles to snuggle up to
🥵providing cool cumber
🥵provided frozen pea bobbing for the rats

🏵Update 25/7/24: A huge thank you for generous donations. £545 has been raised. Sadly with pending medical treatments needed we are still a little way off before we can reopen but it is insight.
We still have 42 animals in our care 💕

It is with a heavy heart that Greatfield Small Animal Rescue announces its temporary closure due to a critical lack of funds. The rescue dedicated to providing care and finding loving homes for abandoned and neglected animals, is facing a dire financial situation.

We are currently caring for 46 animals, and our priority is to ensure their well-being.

We have exhausted our operating budget and are now relying on reserve funds, which are rapidly dwindling. To continue to provide the high level of care these animals deserve, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our doors to new intakes.”

The closure will allow Greatfield to focus all of its resources on the existing animals in its care. This includes essential needs like food, veterinary care, and shelter. The organization is actively seeking solutions to address the funding shortfall and hopes to reopen its doors as soon as possible.

We are truly heartbroken to have to make this decision.

We understand the impact this has on the community, and we are committed to working tirelessly to find a way to reopen. We are appealing to the public for support, and every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference.”

An incredibly sad few day.
It has seen passing of some near to our heart.

Din the chinchilla arrived nearly 20 years old after the devastating passing of his owner. Din had been in sanctuary care just over a year.
He passed peacefully Friday night 💔

Astrid was a beautiful, confident ASF Rat found abandoned by a road.
She managed just over 4 months living her best life with 2 friends.
Sadly her time was cut short and she also passed Friday 🌈

Autumn a Syrian Hamster arrived in a less than ideal condition but was the most adorable and gentle girl.
After a few weeks of TLC she well and truly landed on her paws. Just over 8 months in her perfect home.
Devastatingly she passed away Sunday 💔

It's hard seeing these beautiful creatures pass over the rainbow bridge and leaving us but we try to remember the difference we can make and smile because we met 💕

After being found dumped Nola has settled here with us whilst she patiently who's an operation for her to be spayed.

They are seeking a forever home together, they seem to have built up a special bond.

We are unsure of their age or history but believe them to be young.

Considering their start in life they aren't aggressive at all, they are just abit shy but friendly.
