💛 Would You Sponsor a Sanctuary Animal? 💛

We’ve been given the idea of offering a monthly sponsorship for our sanctuary animals, and we’d love your thoughts!

Right now, 23 animals call Greatfield Small Animal Rescue their permanent home. These are animals who, for various reasons, can’t be rehomed but are still given all the love and care they deserve. Some stay with our core team, while others live with forever foster families—meaning regular updates might not always be possible.

We want to know from you—our amazing supporters—what you’d expect from an animal sponsorship programme:

🐰 Would you be interested in sponsoring a sanctuary animal or group of animals?

📩 What kind of updates or perks would you like as a sponsor?

💷 What do you think would be a reasonable monthly donation amount? We could offer a monthly subscription for £5, £10, £15, £20, £30 a month with the option to cancel/pause at any time via our website.

🎁 Would you prefer a general sanctuary support option with a monthly update via email on any of the animals or to ‘choose’ an individual animal?

💔 If your sanctuary animal passed over the rainbow bridge, would you prefer the sponsor to stop or the choice to sponsor another one of our animals?

📆 How often would you like to receive updates (if possible)? Monthly, quarterly, or just as and when?

🌟 Would extra perks (like behind-the-scenes content, Q&As, or exclusive videos) make you more likely to sponsor?

💌 Would a private Facebook group or email newsletter for sponsors be appealing?

This idea is still in the thinking stage, and your feedback will help us decide if it’s something we should offer and how to make it work. Let us know your thoughts in the comments! ⬇️

Our biggest hurdle is that not all of the animals live with the core team so whilst these animals we would be able to provide a monthly personal email update, the others would depend entirely on the forever fosterers as we know everyone lives busy lives!

As always, thank you for your support—it means the world to us and the animals in our care! 🐾💙

We know, the news isn't good

We're facing a reality that no animal rescue wants to confront, but we need to be honest: we're struggling.

A few weeks ago, we made the devastating decision to temporarily close our doors to new intakes due to ongoing medical issues and dwindling funds.

Sadly, the situation has only worsened since then. We're spending faster than we can fundraise, and the animals in our care need us more than ever.

As Worcestershire's only Specialist Rabbit and Rodent Rescue, we're dedicated to providing a safe haven for these often-overlooked creatures.

Currently, we have 23 sanctuary animals - those who remain in our care due to chronic health problems or old age.
These include pigeons, magpies, rabbits, guinea pigs, and rats, each with unique needs and deserving of a comfortable life.

In addition to our sanctuary residents, we have 15 animals eagerly awaiting their forever homes.

However, this year has been particularly challenging.
We've been hit with a barrage of medical emergencies that have placed an immense strain on our resources.

Here are just a few of the animals currently in our care facing significant health hurdles:

• Our Rats: Sadly, three of our five rats are battling individual medical issues, including tumours, respiratory problems, and ruptured eye vessels.

• Marco the Rabbit: He's fighting a persistent abscess requiring ongoing procedures and medication.

• Flump the Rabbit: Flump was due to head off to his forever home but started showing neurological symptoms. Now, he'll likely become a sanctuary bunny while we investigate, a process involving potentially costly CT/MRI scans that could reach thousands of pounds.

• Roxy the Guinea Pig: Roxy requires regular dental trims and may need more extensive dental surgery to improve her long-term quality of life.

• Max and Freddie the Guinea Pigs: These two arrived with hair loss and are undergoing treatment for mites and potential scurvy, with initial costs already exceeding £100 and the possibility of more interventions.

• Midnight one of the Chaddesley Bunny: Midnight, who has been with us for 11 weeks took a turn for the worse over the weekend developing body edema (excess fluid within the body tissue) resulting in fluid seepign through her skin, her ear has swelled closing her ear cavity, her blood pressure and body temperature has been unstable. As a result, Midnight is now receiving specialist exotic care while we await lab results.

We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering support of our vets Vets for Pets Central Kidderminster & Evolution Exotics Referrals who have provided speedy service and discounted rates. However, even with their generosity, our expenses are mounting. Since the beginning of the year, our outgoings have exceeded £2,700 and continue to rise.

Furthermore, we currently have 42 animals on our waiting list and receive daily messages from people desperate for us to take in more.

It breaks our hearts that we have to say no but we simply can't afford to intake any new animals while safeguarding the wellbeing of those already in our care.

How You Can Help?
We understand that times are tough for everyone, but even small contributions can make a huge difference.

If every follower of this page donated just £1, it would have an immediate and significant impact on our bank balance and alleviate some of the immense stress we're under.

Please consider donating to help us continue caring for these vulnerable animals.

If you are unable to donate, please share this article far and wide. Your support, in any form, is invaluable.

🐰 Marco’s Fight for Recovery – Can You Help? 🐰

In November, over 100 rabbits were cruelly dumped in woodlands near Chaddesley Corbett, left to fend for themselves. 💔

One of those rabbits is Marco. Despite being safe with us, he’s still battling a persistent abscess. Unfortunately, the infection just won’t clear, after multiple vet visits and treatments and now may be facing surgery to remove it—costing hundreds.

Marco’s forever home is already waiting for him, but he can’t leave us until he’s fully healed. 💙 We’re determined to get him the care he needs, but we can’t do it without your support.

If you can donate, even just a few pounds, you’ll be helping Marco get the second chance he deserves.
