The compass jellyfish have arrived! A summer visitor to our shores, the compass jellyfish feeds on small fish, crabs and even other jellyfish. They give a nasty sting, so if you spot them during a visit to the beach – look, but don’t touch! 🪼

Good morning everyone!

As the temperature rises this week, it's important to remember the safety of our furry friends. With the warm weather here for a least one more day we want to remind you about the dangers of leaving your dog in a hot car.

We understand that running errands or taking a short drive may seem harmless, but the truth is, leaving a dog in a hot car can be fatal. The temperature inside a car can rise dramatically, even with the windows cracked, causing heatstroke and dehydration for your beloved pet.

Did you know that on a 22 degree day, a car can reach a temperature of 47 degrees within an hour? That's even with the windows open and in the shade. The hotter the temperature outside, the hotter it will be inside the car.

We urge you to take extra precautions if you do plan on taking your dog in the car. Always make sure they have access to water and never leave them unattended. If you see a dog in a hot car acting lethargic and panting heavily, please don't hesitate to take action. That poor animal is in distress and its body temperature is rising rapidly.

Let's remember how hot we get in a car to.

Kind regards
Penny,
KWT

Thursdays forecast for Cornwall and weather information.

While we've enjoyed a recent spell of warmer weather, get ready to swap out those summer clothes for something a bit more substantial! By Friday, the heat will be a distant memory as a low-pressure system sweeps in from the North Atlantic, bringing cooler temperatures and cleaner air. Weather models predict a drop of around 10°C in some locations, though it won't be a full-blown winter just yet. Daytime temperatures will hover around 13°C to 18°C, with nighttime lows ranging from 11°C to 15°C. This shift in weather will bring a welcome reprieve from the air pollution, thanks to the influx of fresh air from the north. However, despite the cooler temperatures, the high humidity levels overnight might lead to further mist and patchy light rain. And while the rain might wash away some of the dust, there's a good chance your car will be sporting a layer of Saharan dust, as high-altitude winds continue to transport it across the skies.
Thankyou to Dave for providing the information.

Now let's have a look at what's going on. Overnight tonight becomes overcast with patchy rain or mizzle spreading in which could become heavy. Unfortunately this does stay with us until the morning, clearing eastwards by mid morning. We could even see mist and fog all in to, just for extra enjoyment. Temperatures start between 15°C and 17°C with northWesterly/Westerly winds with speeds of between 10-15+mph.

Thursdays sock rating: 🧦

Thursday's sock rating is low, this is because of patchy rain mizzle first thing in the morning. All being well this should clear but there could be a few showers to follow on behind, as well as sunny spells, but not as widespread as today. Any cloud could decide to linger along with mizzly conditions, particularly around the coast. Temperatures in the morning start between 15°C and 19°C and will climb through the day, along with westerly winds which will slowly increase to around 15-30+mph. So a bit windier than previous days. During the afternoon we can expect varied cloud, bright spells but also a few showers drifting in from the West. These will be very scattered in nature, with some areas missing out altogether. The winds increase up to 30+mph but it does remain warm with temperatures between 17°C and 24°C. This will entirely depend on location, cloud and sun.
Through the evening a few showers pay us a visit, and cloud will come and go. It'll feel cooler by the evening.

Friday is a mixed bag on sunshine and cloud, and feeling notably cooler, with temperatures not much higher than 18°C, compared to some this week. Those pesky west/Northwesterly winds will persist with variable humidity.

We will look more into the weekend tomorrow.

Have a great Thursday.

Kind regards
Penny,
KWT

Tuesday's forecast for Cornwalll and weather information.

While we are watching our temperatures slowly climb, parts of southern Spain today reached 38°C, Italy 33°C even Poland and Bulgaria in the 30S, London 27°C. Our 21°C feels cold compared to Europe!!

So let's have a look at tonight. We'll there's a fair bit of cloud around for some of us, elsewhere this will clear and bring a few breaks. It'll feel muggy with overnight temperatures between 13°C and 16°C. Humidity levels vary around 95%.
The winds are light 0-10mph from a north/ Northeasterly we could also see some mist or fog.

Tuesday's sock rating 🧦🧦🧦🧦

🔸️POLLEN LEVELS VH UV MODERATE TO HIGH🔸️

Tuesday morning is another dry one, with variable clouds and hopefully sunny spells. However, the early morning, some locations may find the cloud may linger about for a time. Any thicker cloud may produce a spot of mizzle or patchy rain, although this keeps appearing and disappearing. The weather models weather's keep changing, and we are finding this quite frustrating. It's never a straightforward model run. Temperatures in the morning start quite warm anywhere between 13°C and 18°C. These will climb during the day. The winds start from a northeasterly, then Northwesterly, light with speeds of between 0-10mph.

Through the afternoon, these winds increase slightly, still staying Northerly but reaching up to around 25mph. By now, temperatures should be creeping up nicely, depending on sunshine and cloud cover, therefore anywhere between 18°C and 22°C. Although there is a feel like temperature between 20-24°C. So hopefully, the majority of us should have more in the way of sunshine, so please, if you are outdoors, make sure to slap on suncream.

Into the evening, it's dryvand fine with variable cloud and sunshine with Norrtherly winds and warm pleasant temperaturesOvernight cloud may move in, and it'll feel very humid.

Wednesday.

Wednesday looks to be the best day of the week and forecasted to be the hottest day of the year for us. Once again we can expect variable cloud but plenty of sunshine, temperatures will respond well, anywhere between 20°C to 26°C, this will vary widely, especially sheltered spots in the sun. Don't forget, these temperatures are taken in the shade, so direct sunlight these will be higher. At the moment, the rain we saw on the models has dissapeard, but if there is a change we will let you know. The winds should come from a southeasterly direction with speeds of between 0-25mph.

There's a couple of weather fronts around, and Thursday looks like staying mostly dry, with sunny spells and cloud, but there could be a few showers but not as hot.

Have a great Tuesday.
Kind regards
Penny,
KWT

Remember, if it’s too hot for your hands or your bare feet, then it’s too hot for their paw pads! ⚠️

If you’re unsure whether it’s okay to let your pet go for a walk on pavements, a simple way to test the temperature is by holding your bare skin on the tarmac for five seconds ⏱️

If you find it painful, then your pet will find it painful to walk on!

To protect your pet, it’s best to avoid walks during the hottest part of the day, which is usually between 8am and 6pm. If you can't safely exercise your dog, missing a day won't hurt.
