3 Risks UK Dog Owners Currently Face! 🐶

1. Higher Risk of Catching Parasites - Places with very dry vegetation where there are spikes can cause injuries and the spread of fleas and ticks or mosquito bites, which transmit serious diseases such as leishmania.

2. Increase in spider/snake bites - Due to higher temperatures and an increase outdoor activities spiders and snake bites are now a danger to your dog. Spider bites can cause necrotic lesions and allergic reactions, while snake bites can lead to severe pain, swelling, and life-threatening complications

3. Grass seeds causing irritation - Your pet may love bounding through the long grass but remember, during spring and early summer these grasses are seeding and these will get everywhere. The seeds pose no serious danger to your pet but they can be very uncomfortable and can easily get stuck in ears, muzzles and down their airways. Always check at the end of a walk and remove any seeds that you see.

What preventatives will you be putting in place?

Top 3 Most Dangerous Sports Dogs Can Participate In😱

1. Skijoring - Skijoring is a winter sport where a person on skis is pulled by one or more dogs. The skier wears a harness connected to the dogs, who pull them along snowy trails. It's a mix of skiing and dog sledding, popular in snowy regions for recreation and competition.

2. Surfing - Scores are based on the ride’s length, whether the dog reaches the shore on their board, technique and riding position, style, the wave’s strength, and the rider’s confidence.

3. Dock Diving - Dog dock diving is a sport where dogs jump off a dock into a pool of water to compete for distance or height. It involves training dogs to run down a dock and leap into the water, aiming to achieve the longest or highest jump possible. It's a thrilling and competitive sport that tests a dog's athleticism and jumping ability.

Here are 5 "Dog Hacks" that have SAVED MY LIFE! (start doing them!) 💚

1) Scent Infused Toys - Dogs are highly scent-driven animals, so infusing their toys with familiar scents can provide comfort and reduce anxiety, especially when they are home alone. Simply place a small cloth or piece of clothing with your scent (or their favourite scent) inside their toys before giving them to your dog.

2) DIY Slow Feeder - If your dog tends to eat too quickly, causing digestive issues or bloating, create a DIY slow feeder using a muffin tin. Place small amounts of food in each muffin cup, making it more challenging for your dog to gobble down their meal quickly. This encourages them to eat more slowly and promotes better digestion.

3) Paw Protection for winter - During winter months or in areas with hot pavement, protect your dog's paws by applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly or paw wax before walks. This helps create a barrier against ice, snow, salt, and hot surfaces, preventing discomfort and potential injuries.

4) Calming music playlist - Create a calming music playlist specifically for your dog to help reduce stress and anxiety, especially during thunderstorms, fireworks, or when left alone. Choose soothing instrumental music or specially designed pet relaxation tracks available on streaming platforms.

A breed all families SHOULD AVOID! 🚨🐶

As beautiful as they are, the Caucasian Shepard dog is not a breed families should be thinking of getting any time soon, putting this down to four reasons...

1) Independent Nature - These dogs can be quite independent and strong-willed. They may not always be as eager to please or trainable as some other breeds, requiring experienced handling and consistent training from an early age.

2) High Exercise Needs - While they are not as high-energy as some working breeds, Caucasian Shepherds still require regular exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and potential destructive behaviours.

3) Aggression Potential - Without proper socialization and training, Caucasian Shepherds can exhibit aggressive tendencies towards other dogs or animals, especially if they perceive them as a threat to their territory or family.

4) Large Size - Caucasian Shepherds are a large and powerful breed, often weighing over 100 pounds. Their size alone can be intimidating, and they may unintentionally knock over small children or elderly family members during play.

We're not crying, you are! 🥹

There was this guy named Tom who shared an incredible bond with his Border Collie, Orion. It wasn't just a typical pet-owner relationship; it was a deep friendship that touched the hearts of everyone around them.

Tom came across Orion on a stormy day, a scared little pup seeking shelter. Tom took him in, and they quickly became inseparable pals. Tom, being a fan of stargazing, named him Orion after the constellation he admired so much.

Orion wasn't just smart; he was fiercely loyal, always there for Tom no matter what. People who knew them couldn't help but admire their strong connection, with Orion's name becoming synonymous with unwavering friendship and companionship.

As the years went by, their bond only grew stronger. When Tom eventually passed away, Orion stayed by his side till the very end, a silent but powerful testament to their enduring friendship.

Now, whenever someone looks up at the night sky and spots the Orion constellation, they are reminded of the incredible bond between Tom and Orion. It's a reminder that true friendships are precious and can weather any storm that life throws our way.

💚 Ensuring your furry friend has a fresh dog bed is key to their health and happiness. Just like how we humans love clean sheets and a comfy mattress, dogs thrive on a clean, cozy spot to curl up...

But when should you change their bed exactly?

🐶 Here are 4 signs that your dog NEEDS a new bed.

1) Wear and Tear - Regularly inspect your dog's bed for signs of wear and tear. Look for frayed seams, flattened padding, or any damage that compromises the bed's structural integrity. If the bed shows significant wear, it may be time for a replacement.

2) Hygiene - Pay attention to the cleanliness of the bed. If your dog frequently has accidents on the bed, it may develop odors or stains that are difficult to remove even with washing. Mold, mildew, or persistent odors can also indicate that it's time for a new bed.

3) Health Concerns - If your dog has been ill, especially with conditions like parasites or skin infections, it's advisable to replace the bed to prevent reinfection or the spread of pathogens. Similarly, if your dog has allergies, a new bed with hypoallergenic materials may be beneficial.

4) Comfort and Support - Dogs, especially older ones or those with joint issues, may benefit from a new bed that provides better support and comfort. If your dog shows signs of discomfort while lying on the bed, such as stiffness or reluctance to use it, consider getting a bed with orthopaedic features or extra cushioning.
