Slugs and Snails! Pet warning.
With Spring just around the corner, slugs and snails will soon be making a reappearance – in the garden and out and about. As many pets can be far too curious and like to pick things up, you need to be aware that slugs and snails can be dangerous if carrying the lungworm parasite, and they can be dangerous to dogs.
As well as keeping a check on your pet, if you have dog toys and water bowls in the garden, do bring them in night to prevent contamination with slug and snail slime.
If you are using any slug and snail repellents, please make sure that they are PET FRIENDLY as some contain dangerous chemicals which can be harmful to pets.

It is time to plan for a safe and happy Christmas for your pets – with a little help from the Guna Pet team.
While it is good to share at Christmas, and both cats and dogs will welcome a little turkey or roast meat as an addition to their usual diet, do remember that not all foods are safe for our pets. Here is a quick guide to keeping your pets safe this Christmas:

• NO cooked turkey bones (or goose, duck or chicken) as they can splinter and cause big health issues!

• TOXIC ALERT! Onions and garlic can be toxic to dogs and cats so watch the leftovers; keep sweets and chocolates away from pets. Chocolate contains theobromine, which is very poisonous to dogs, and even a small amount of chocolate can be harmful. If your pet has eaten chocolate call your vet for advice!

• Avoid dried fruits such as raisins, sultanas, dates – and of course, Christmas pudding or other ‘fruity’ treats such as mince pies

• Make sure you pet has a ‘quiet place’ to go to rest – could be their bed or a pet crate (away from the action) where they can relax and recharge in peace.
