Our resident gerbil Twiglet (the one shredding the box) had surgery today to remove her scent gland.

It's safe to say she is feeling much better :)

Otis is going home today. He's been successfully bonded with two young gerbils after his previous friend died.

Unfortunately it is just about impossible to get a photo of three gerbils where they're all in focus and facing the camera!

European hamsters are about twice as big as Syrian hamsters and are critically endangered due to habitat loss.

This is the same Toby who about 6 weeks ago would scream if anybody tried to touch him. He is now one of the most outgoing hamster I've ever known (and his fur is irresistibly soft).

This is Toby, our new resident Russian dwarf hamster! He has been here a week and now seems right at home, despite lots of screaming in the beginning when he was still scared of everything.

Russian dwarf hamsters are capable of producing a scream which sounds a lot like a rattlesnake, and is probably an effective predator detterant!
