Good morning from Bongo and Swift!

You may remember that these two were born in the engine of a campervan, to a feral mum.

Mum was trapped first. She was neutered and found an alternative home.

Bongo & Swift thrived and as you can see, are now having their best life! 💕

One of the many 'best' parts of volunteering for us is my personal favourite...
Getting cats home 🏡

We were asked to deal with a stray cat yesterday in Exeter. Time was of the essence as the finder was away from tomorrow.

Our first volunteer arrived but the cat quickly scarpered.
The finder finally managed to persuade the cat to come inside, and up drove Clive Appleby to scan.

The scanner pinged (my favourite sound) and it was then, as we looked up the number, we discovered that this sweet girl had been missing for over 4 years!

Strangely, she was found in the same road that she'd gone missing from in 2021.
I suspect she'd been encouraged in to another property but when the time came to move on, she was left behind as 'She's not really our cat'.

I can't stress enough...

DON'T FEED CATS THAT DON'T BELONG TO YOU!

Contact a rescue for advice first... PLEASE 🙏

Lottie is now home with her delighted owners who had flagged her missing on her microchip, and ensured they'd kept their details updated when they moved house.

Enjoy being back where you belong, sweet girl 💖

Gorgeous boy Jimmy Choo will soon be looking for his forever home 🏡

Jimmy has calicivirus, so needs a home with no other cats ( ok with cats with calicivirus) and an enclosed garden - ideally surrounded by ProtectaPet or similar.

Due to his size and age (he's only 4) he would only be suitable for an indoor-only home in a very large house with a catio.

Jimmy is easily stimulated and likes to give love-bites (skin has never been broken) so only homes with sensible older children will be considered.

Meanwhile he continues to rule the roost taking up most of his fosterer's bed 😹

🆘️ WE NEED YOU! 🆘️

Our volunteers are getting a bit tired (some more than others! ) so we're looking for fresh blood 🩸

Many roles available including remote working 👨‍💻 ☎️ 📧, shop organising 🛍, driving🚗, pen organising 🐈‍⬛💩, stock rotation and organisation etc.

We have just the best team of over 100 volunteers and it's all because of them that we can do as much as we do for the cats.

Please complete the form here:

Let's work together to give Clive Appleby a chance of getting some proper sleep 😴

Ta da! 🥳

For us, this is an incredible achievement that's been years in the making.

Sadly, animal rescues & charities in this country aren't regulated whatsoever and we've seen some terrible practices carried out by otherwise admired organisations.

We've always wanted to do everything possible to ensure the cats in our care get the highest standards of welfare, and as such, aimed to become a member of the main regulatory body, ADCH.

Sadly our old pens in my garden let us down big time. They more than did their job, and helped over 2000 cats in their time, but we needed to do better.

And we did!

I still wake up some mornings, not quite believing how this 'hobby' rescue has grown so much.

From an expected intake of 5 cats a month to the average of 58 a month now, it didn't quite go to plan...

We have already benefitted from our membership:
We were offered 8 spaces for the dumped farm cats by another member, and I attended an extremely useful webinar on VAT and Animal Rescue last week (it was excellent and extremely useful!)

A huge thank you to everyone who has made this dream possible 🙏

Maureen Jones & family;
Pets Foundation;
Gareth Perkins;
Marni Miller & team;
Peticular Pens;
Susie Hughes;
Our anonymous lender;
Jo & Anna;
Kitty Oldfield;

And most of all, those of you that donate to us & our fabulous volunteers for making this possible.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💕 👏 💕

New ADCH Member! 🎉

We’re thrilled to announce that Hector's House Residents has been successfully admitted as our newest Full Member following their recent external assessment.

Please join us in giving them a warm welcome to the ADCH community! 💜🐱

Good morning from Lizzie ☀️

Lizzie has just spent her first night in her forever home 🏡

She's been adopted by our volunteers Kate Wilkinson and Rachel Marchant and believe me, this little girl will be adored and cherished for every year to come 💖

We were called out tonight to scan a deceased cat in Otter Road, Torquay.

No chip was found but the cat had clearly passed some time ago.

Possibly a tabby.

Meet Pancake, who was brought in injured from Newton Abbot on Tuesday.

Sadly he's neither neutered or microchipped 😕

His leg was x-rayed and although no broken bones were found, he did have a very large swelling caused by a haematoma.

This was drained and he was given antibiotics and pain-relief.

If he remains unclaimed, he will be neutered and microchipped next week 😻

Meet our 7 new cats, all of whom have arrived in the last 48 hours.

None of them are neutered or microchipped and all are injured or unwell.

It's been extremely busy juggling cays/space/vet appointments etc but we got there in the end.

We're still hoping that Shrove's brother will be in soon 🤞

Gumbo, now Peggy, is settling in to her forever home with her sister Harira.

They each needed a leg removing on arrival due to severe damage to a paw, but they're doing very well now.

Harira is likely to always remain quite shy, and we're so grateful to adopters like theirs who are happy to give them choices when it comes to interaction 🙏👏💕

Good morning from HH alumnus Bubba, now George.

He's updated us on his progress:

"Hi Hectors House, I just wanted to say thank you for helping me to find my new mum. I love following her everywhere, sitting on her whenever possible (she says sometimes it’s not convenient but I don’t know what that means). I’m very happy and content and that’s all down to you.

Lots of love, George (was bubba)"

We're so very happy for you sweet boy 💕

Late last night Clive drove to Okehampton to collect the first of 2 tabby boys that had turned up at a farm several months ago.

They were unapproachable so they required trapping.

Needless to say, the first in the trap is an unneutered unchipped tom.

We were curious where they could have suddenly appeared from and it was strange to find 2 together. Our suspicions were confirmed when Shrove was let out in his pen and allowed Clive to stroke him.

These boys are clearly domesticated and have clearly been dumped.
Left to fend for themselves.
Left to starve or freeze to death.

We're hoping to get his sibling trapped soon 🤞

After 4 sachets were wolfed down in seconds, Shrove could finally sleep soundly for the first time in months 💕
