Poorly boy Chestnut's results are back from the lab and unsurprisingly we have a plethora of bacteria & fungi invading his open sores.

After years of testing week in and week out, trying to save money, we found that the cats were suffering unnecessarily whilst waiting for their skin swab results to come back.

Now in the case of chronic open sores like Chestnut's, we run every possible test at the outset in the hope of getting a result ASAP and ensure the correct treatment is given.

In Chestnut's case, he has staphylococcus felis, staphylococcus aureus, Acinetobacter and a yeast infection.

All due to a failure to adequately treat his fleas.

He's currently having twice-weekly dry baths and will be starting a new antibiotic tomorrow to help get rid of the acinetobacter.

Despite all of this, he remains the most adorable boy 💕

Yesterday we said goodbye to Puzzle/Rocky 💕

When he was being imported from Cyprus, his passport got muddled up with a different cat, so he was registered with the wrong number, and the other cat had not yet been registered...😳

Anyway, many many hours later, things are now completely sorted out and Rocky is back home where he belongs 🏡🤞💕

Sadly we heard of the passing of HH alumnus Raffles/Rufus last week.

He was adopted in 2021 and had the best life with his mum Helen.

Losing a much-loved member of the family is so very hard, but he was loved so, so much.

Thank you Helen for giving this darling boy the best life possible.

It's only people like Helen, who open their hearts and lives to rescue cats, that we can continue our work...

Meet gorgeous boy Chestnut!

This young man was brought to us with a chronic flea allergy.

As with many people, his owners thought using off-the-shelf products do what they say on the box.

This just isn't true 😕 and in my opinion should be banned.

He's had skin swabs and scrapes to check which, if any, bacteria are living in his infected open sores, and he'll be treated accordingly.

For now, he's had antibiotics, a vet-prescribed flea tablet treatment, and specialist baths on alternate days.

Fingers crossed he'll soon be all fixed and when his scabs have healed over and his results are back, he can go to foster 🤞💞
