Hi. Is anyone missing a dog in the Greens Norton area? An apricot brindle Shih tzu bitch has been found. She is at Beech House vets in Towcester - 01327 354477. The vets have contacted us to help find the owner to reunite them.

Whilst working from home with your dogs can be one of the best decisions you’ll make, it certainly can throw you some curve balls. Your dog will love to have you for the day and doesn’t understand what “work” really is!
Canine Company can help relieve some pressure and keep your dog exercised and stimulated all whilst in a secure paddock in the countryside.
We offer different group sessions (length and times) to suit yours and your pups needs, with consistent friendships so your pup never feels out of place.
It’s not just about the 9-5 though, if our pup parents need us, sometimes we work weekends too!

🌻Fun out of the Sun!
As you're all aware, life is looking a little warm at the moment ☀️
To beat the heat, at Canine Company - Towcester we've created some play time activities in our sessions to keep your pups cool. The pools are filled, the sprinklers are creating our own rain drops and we have lots of frozen treats too! We are also offering afternoon pop-ins to accommodate the pups that are home alone for a longer period of time and need a little afternoon fuss and to be let out to stretch their legs 🐾

This week we’ve enjoyed a fish skin sniffari, fruit and veg bobbing, snuffle mats, new toys, new obstacles, lots of play and freshly cut paddocks. All the fun 🐾🐾

We pick up and drop off your pups in our lovely air-conditioned vans kitted out with spacious crates and comfy bedding. We provide a tasty treat and/or toy for the short journey.
We then head to our secure, private, three-acre pup playground in the open countryside for play, enrichment and socialisation🐑.
Play sessions at our paddocks are either for one hour (your dog is usually away for ninety minutes to two hours), or extended play which is four hours (ideal for pup parents out all day). When your pups are tired, happy and content, we return them home for a much needed snooze 🥱

This week's activities to get the pups thinking 🤓
If you were under the impression that puzzle toys are only meant for humans, then your dog is likely missing out on tons of fun! For those dogs that are too smart for their own good, giving them interactive dog puzzles is a great way to challenge and strengthen their mental capabilities.
Dog puzzle toys are fantastic ways to stimulate your dog's cognitive reasoning abilities. 🐕
Here, I've just used a snuffle ball and a muffin tin, which I popped some nice smelly treats in and covered them with some balls, these activities don't need to cost a fortune 💰

Warm welcome to our newest CC Towcester pups! Spending their time getting settled in at the pawsome playground with their new adventure pals 🐾

Did you know that at Canine Company Towcester we are fully insured for ten dogs per person to play in our adventure playground at any one time? Our play groups consist of numbers between two to ten, as we fully understand that some pups are more comfortable to socialise with smaller numbers. We group dogs according to their individual needs, taking into consideration play styles, size, age, breed etc. All introductions are carried out carefully, initially with one play mate, and we build on that to a level which is suitable for the needs of each pup.
At this time of the year it’s difficult to give our pups the mental and physical exercise that they require, especially during daylight hours, and our playground is the ideal place to stimulate mind, body and soul.

That time of year many of us dread.....Bonfire Night is a time of year that is a real problem for many dog owners and their dogs. The sky is lit up and many dogs suffer fear and terror at the sound and sight of the firework explosions, but there are a number of things you can do to help your pup.
Desensitisation is a better long term solution, but you needed to start that weeks or months ago …please shout if you’d like more information on this ready for next year/NYE or the next thunder storm.
Tired Dogs
If your dog has been for a nice long walk and is physically and mentally tired out, they will be much more likely to settle in the evening and less likely to worry about the noise, lights and activity outside.
Surroundings
Take simple measures to make your dog comfortable such as closing the windows and curtains so that the sounds are not as loud and your pet cannot see the fireworks going off.
Switch a TV/Radio on in every room your dog has access to will also help to minimise the noise.
Leaving lights on in every room will minimise the chance of the dog seeing the flashing lights outside, which can be just as frightening to a dog, do this before it goes dark and before the fireworks start as a dog that is already aware of the fireworks will take longer to calm.
Provide your dog with a hidey hole, dogs often hide under or behind things so give them a safe place either a cage with the door open (if your dog is happy in a cage) or drape a blanket over a chair or table.
Comfort Food
A frozen stuffed kong can help distract your dog.
Start a new game or trick with your dog, generally keeping him busy. Maybe treat your dog to a new toy and save it especially for Bonfire night.
Other Precautions
Find out the exact date of local firework displays.
Ask neighbours to warn you in advance of any private displays.
Make sure your dog is wearing a collar and ID tag in case they escape in fear.
Top up your dog's water as an anxious dog may be more thirsty than usual
Toilet your dog before the noise and lights start as it is unlikely they will want to go out afterwards, don’t force a frightened dog to go outside.
Please do not walk your dog after 230pm on Bonfire Night or on the evenings surrounding that night, every year someone posts on our local sites about ”my dog has run off scared by a firework” your dog missing its walk will not cause it any harm.
