What a fantastic break!
Celebrations in neon pink!
Swimming with octopuses/octopi (?), anchovies, crabs.
Dolphin spotting (a big fail sadly) lots of rest and recuperating in the sunshine.
Then 3 days of fabulousness with the one and only The IMDT

I am refreshed and ready for the Christmas run up! (Probably only until tomorrow!)

Here is GORGEOUS roxy! She struggles with approaching and greeting other dogs, she gets worried OR overwhelmed (a bit like me actually) and then comes on too strong. We are working on activating her desire/seeking system using odour detection to calm and focus her. Thanks The College Of Scent Dogs Ltd for their recent course which we used to the max here!! And huge thanks to Positive Canine Coaching for teaching Roxy so well!

The recent publication of the study titled Comparison of the Efficacy and Welfare of Different Training Methods in Stopping Chasing Behavior in Dogs (Johnson and Wynne, 2024) has sparked significant debate across the animal welfare community. This study, which adds to the growing body of evidence on the adverse effects of shock collars (e-collars), highlights serious concerns regarding the welfare of dogs subjected to this training method. The gorgeous Oscar is an absolute pocket rocket! He lives at 100 miles an hour! But he LOVES his settle mat! It's his safe space within a really busy world ans can manage situations that would usually be too much for him when he uses it like the vets and the hairdressers!

Did you know that a dog's hearing is at least 8 times more acute than ours? Imagine having a metal tag constantly clunking against your collar or harness. Or knocking your food/water bowl as you go to eat! Annoying? Yes!

Here is the beautiful Lokie and his care givers along with one of the fabulous vet nurses from Casvets.

Lokie had a run of vet visits where he needed attention to his face and head. This has made him quite worried about vet staff approaching him.

Here we are working on the cooperative care method; and injection practice giving Lokie the option to stop the procedure if he is feeling pressured or overwhelmed.

Here is the GORGEOUS Woody, and his care givers. What a privilege to work with a smooth collie (lassie with less fluff).
Woody is a really sensitive boy trying to maneuver his way through adolescence.

His absolute nemesis has been the gate to the park. We have worked with scentwork, freework, lead handling, breathing exercises, various positive reinforcement methods and some desensitision & counter-conditioning to tell Woody that it's cool and not so very scary.

He can now wander the streets past the gates happily and merrily!

Such a good boy with wonderful understanding people.
