Learning is happening all through a walk in one way or another. But dedicated training times are good to concentrate on something specific. I did 5 minutes of training at the park to end the walk. Here's 23 seconds of it.

Enjoyable 5 minutes for us all 🥰
I also do 1:1 scent detection sessions if you're unable to make a block of classes, or if you don't want to wait for the next one. This was Isla's second session absolutely smashing her searches 🙌🐾

I'm not sure if it's healthy or not that my brain somehow takes everything I learn and brings it back to dogs 😂 but that is what seems to happen.
Dogs and diets (actually dogs and anything) is a complex and multi-facet topic that doesn't have one concrete answer. I can never tell anyone what exactly to feed their dog. But there is lots of current information that cannot be understated about the things that are not great to be feeding our dogs.
This study that was described just got me thinking about how little people think about what they feed and how much it affects our dogs day to day but also in the long term.
Also, just like with humans, how bloody insane the world of diet is within the dog community. I stay well away from group chats about diet because people are just wild.

It's getting to the point where some of this advice that is being put out there as if it's gospel and absolute for every single dog as if they're all the same, is actually detrimental.
Dogs shouldn't be off lead until they have 100% recall, how will you judge that?
Dogs shouldn't be off lead until they're a year old..are you CRAZY? UGH.
What is your opinion?
Have you been told this before?

It's taken me 31 years to know myself well enough to know where I'm most comfortable and I'm still learning. It's okay not to know your dog completely yet and still be figuring them out.

Just look at my cheesing face at the end of this trail, I was so delighted with Jaffa cakes, and no massive impacts on her body the following day 😁🐾

I really needed this today 🤣🤣

I say "little sh*t" with love 😆
Jacob has been a bit challenging recently, and I can't seem to figure out if it's because Jaffa is having a hard time or because he's having a hard time. Behaviour is complex and shocker, I don't know everything.
It took me a long time to feel comfortable with saying that, but I was constantly overwhelmed and overworking myself trying to find answers and learn everything, but even if I live until I'm 100 years old I'll still have limited knowledge compared to what is actually out there to understand and know.
I will now give my opinion based on what I have learned in courses taught by people who are basing their findings in both science and decades of experience working hands on with dogs, and I'll also use my first hand experience. But I will also openly admit when I don't know the answer but try my hardest to figure it out.
In a field with never ending learning it's the best I can offer.
So while I try to figure out what the hell is going on with Jacob I will manage and train the best I can.

I am definitely the type of person who likes to picture things in certain ways, and when I have a new training client regardless of the issue I look at the whole picture (as much as I can understand and learn in the limited time we usually have together). Because missing a vital component could make or break a training issue.
In my mind it's a spider diagram but you might like to picture it differently!

Some advice for puppies and lead walking.
I always think of the phrase "early learning is the strongest" which I'm pretty sure I heard from Jane Ardern.
Puppies learning to pull very quickly, because there is zero foundations built before going for a walk and it's way too stimulating and exciting to walk at human pace for long especially if there's no reward history for it.
Just do some training. You'll thank yourself later.
