The fabulous Hattie here was giving me lessons on how to be chill all of last week. I think I nailed my homework 👌

But of course, I can't wait to get back to it tomorrow, and excited to meet some new faces through the week!

🐕 🌲Dog Walking Availability 🌳 🐕

I'm currently looking to expand and take on a few new puppers! I now have spaces available for regular walks between the following times:

🐾 8:00 - 9:30am Monday - Friday.
🐾 3:00 - 5:00pm Monday - Friday.

🐾 earlier/later start/finish times, and weekends may also be possible. Open for discussion.
🐾 Walks start at 30 minutes, up to 1.5 hours as needed.
(if you require longer I'd love to hear from you, as this may be possible soon. Dreaming of long woodland adventures!🌲)
🐾 More times will become available in the future, so all requests welcome 😊

🐕 Drop In / Let Out service is also available. These are customised just like all my other services, so can include anything from a feed, fuss and garden break, to help with medication and physio exercises.

🏠 Holiday Pet Sitting services are available as always 7 days a week

📢 Service Announcement 📢

🎄The winter holiday season is fast approaching, and the books are filling up fast.

☃️ If you are currently planning your winter holidays, please send in your booking requests to me ASAP to avoid that last minute mad scramble to find a sitter!

⚠️ For new clients, please do get in touch today if you are considering booking for this period, to allow time to find a suitable consultation slot before registering.

🗓 If you're not 100% set on your dates yet, don't worry! Booking is very flexible and can be changed if needed, for free up to just 3 days before your first visit begins.

✈️ I will be flying out to Budapest once again for my own winter holiday, once the festive period is over, on January 22nd evening, and returning on February 2nd morning, so I will be unavailable during this time.

I'm so incredibly excited for this first winter season with my new increased hours! I can't think of a better way to spend these cold, dark months than snuggling up with all of your fabulous pets ♥️

🐕 Spaces are still available for winter walks! 🐕

🗓 I still have some spaces available for regular walks in the afternoons, and a few evenings from November. Whether you're struggling with getting walks in with the shorter days, or you've picked up extra shifts for the busy holiday season, if you're looking for some help with your canine companions, please get in touch to see what I can do for you.

⭐️ Just like my other services, you can customise walks to your dog's specific needs, making them an excellent choice for elderly or disabled dogs, those working through behavioural issues or other training, and those who need 100% undivided attention, or cannot join group walks for any reason.

Walks start at £9 for a half hour, up to £16/hour (£4/15mins extra) plus a small travel fee if you wish for your dog to be taken on more grand adventures further afield.

⭐️ They are also an affordable option for those with multiple dogs, with each additional dog being just £4/hour extra. (That's just £28/hour for a family of 4!)

⭐️ I only use R+ practices, as with any animal I work with, and I'm happy to help you work towards any training goals you have with your dog during solo sessions. This can be simple recall and loose lead practice, or even scent work if that's your dog's bag!

Let's celebrate the beauty and charm of our ebony-furred companions today, and every day. Black dogs are just as loving, loyal, and wonderful as any other, but are unfortunately often overlooked and less likely to be adopted 💔 so share a pic of your favorite black dog and spread the love!

Its been a mad few weeks! But I finally wanted to introduce one of our newbies, Blossom 🌸 ❤️
This little girl is just so gorgeous!
It seems we will be seeing more of her in the future too 😁 I can't wait!

Also! If supervised garden time or harness walking is something you're considering for your cat, I'd love to help you out with that! It can be a fantastic enrichment opportunity, does wonders for bonding, and is a much safer option than free roaming.

Blossom's family have clearly done a fantastic job with her training, and she absolutely loves it!

🐕 September is Responsible Dog Ownership Month! 🐕

Let's all take some time this month to consider the different ways in which we can do our best as dog parents (or aunts, like me), and take just a few small steps towards making positive changes in the way we work with our dogs.

👨‍🎓 It is also Pet Sitter Education Month! 👩‍🎓

This holiday celebrates the dedication to continued education shown by many Pet Professionals worldwide.

So I found a way to celebrate both of these holidays together, and decided to check out a Responsible Dog Ownership course, just for funsies 🤓

If you've known me for a while, you will know that I am ALL about lifelong learning 📖 so I love that this course has something for all levels, and is within every dog owners budget. So you don't even need to be a pet professional like myself to take part.

A perk of working 1-1 with all of my clients? I get to spend quality time with little sweethearts like Tilly here. This sweet little old lady isn't from around here. She was on her holidays with her pawrents while they attended a family wedding! They needed someone to come check in on her in the evening, to give her dinner, cuddles, treats and a good sniff around the farm, so that no one had to dip out of dinner to check in on her. Of course, how could I say no! Everyone got to stay, relax and enjoy the reception, and Tilly had a blast too 🎉 everyone wins! I love getting interesting requests like this. I'd definitely like to see more wedding doggos in the future. This was so fun! (Though next time, I think I'll find something nicer to wear. Rocking up at a castle reception to collect keys in my walking gear seemed a bit suss 🤣)

Patchwork Petcare’s Story

Hello and welcome to Patchwork Petcare!

My name is Catriona, and in August of this year I set up Patchwork Petcare with the aim of providing the highest standards of care for a wide range of animals, not just the cuddly ones! I offer tailored pet care services in East Lothian, catering to dogs, cats, equines, reptiles, invertebrates, small mammals, and hobby farms.

I grew up surrounded by many different animals, riding horses from the age of 3, and have worked with animals professionally for 11 years in boarding kennels, catteries, livery yards, and rescue centres. I also attended leading agricultural college Sparsholt College, where I gained my diploma in Animal Management and had the opportunity to work with hundreds of domestic, farm and zoo animals within their Zoo and Animal Management Centre.

Patchwork Petcare is based in Prestonpans and covers the surrounding areas including Musselburgh, Whitecraig, Tranent, Ormiston, Gladsmuir and Longniddry.
