🤩 Meet The Team 🤩

Ben has been responsible for overseeing the daily care for all the broodmares, stallions and young stock. Whilst running the GW Equine breeding program for the past 10 years, he has also been involved in the development of Equine Aqua Power from the outset and has extensive training with leading experts in the field of hydro therapy Tonya Willingham and Dr Matthias Baumann.

Ben takes overall responsibility for the maintenance, bio security and hygiene for the whole treadmill facility itself.

At Equine Aqua Power your horse is our priority. We use a customised multi-filtration system, together with a diligent cleaning regime to ensure the water used for our treadmill is kept in the most sterile condition possible.

After every session we follow a strict procedure to ensure both the treadmill and your horse are kept clean.
➡️ Treadmill is rinsed down
➡️ Horse is rinsed down
➡️ Horses legs are cleaned with Oleonix (non toxic, animal friendly spray disinfectant)
➡️ Water passes through a three stage filtration process

Wondering what our introductory sessions look like? Our approach starts with great communication with our clients, this is a vital part of the process and the knowledge that can be shared between us makes the process smooth and comfortable for all.

➡️ We will discuss your horse’s medical history and can consult with your vet where appropriate.
➡️ Your horse will have the opportunity to acclimatise to the therapy room and treadmill.
➡️ We will use the dry treadmill initially – only introducing water when we feel your horse is confident.

Our treadmill has transparent doors and sides as well as an overhead viewing and operating platform so our therapists can closely monitor your horses movements.

Our therapists have all trained with German equine vet and 3 time Olympian Matthias Baumann as well as having extensive experience in the equine industry.

Huge congratulations to team JLP Dressage & Anmore Dressage at the Chard Equestrian Winter Regional Championships.

We are super proud to be part of Bertie, Princess & Eric’s training regimes with weekly water treadmill sessions. They had fantastic results with 3 regional titles, two 2nd places & one 5th place between the three of them! Onwards and upwards to the National Championships! 💪🏼

Happy Valentine's Day! We treat all horses as our own and follow a strict care routine after horses have had their session on the treadmill.

🤍 Areas of the horse which have been in the treadmill water are rinsed down. Our treadmill contains no chemicals and has an expertly engineered three stage filtration system through which all water passes. Despite this we rinse again to ensure all our horses leave clean.

🤍 We then spray all legs and belly using Oleonix disinfectant. Oleonix is non toxic and animal friendly.

🤍 Final step is of course a handful of treats! 😝

We asked our hydrotherapists at Equine Aqua Power a few questions about the water treadmill to share their wisdom with you all, starting with the very special Tonya Willingham!

📢 How did you become involved in equine hydrotherapy?
📣 I first became interested in Hydrotherapy as my dog, a border terrier, was diagnosed with osteoarthritis in her hip- so I took her swimming to strengthen up.
I was also interested in equine nursing- which I studied and found that the salary was a little on the low side, so from here I took an interest in all things hydrotherapy for horses and the rest is history!

📢 What’s your favourite aspect of working with the horses at the treadmill?
📣 Personally I love being part of the team helping 2 and 4 leggeds to achieve their goals however small or large!

📢 Are there any myths about water treadmills you’d like to debunk?
📣 'The more water and speed the better' - this is all individual and relevant to each individual horse. Which it is why you need to take your horse to an experienced centre with knowledgable staff.

📢 Can you share an example of a horse whose recovery journey particularly stood out to you?
📣 It’s difficult to pinpoint one horses journey to recovery as they are all different, just being part of the journey on getting the horses back to their best is good enough for me whether it’s top level competition horses or a happy hacker.

📢 What’s the most common question horse owners ask you about hydrotherapy?
📣 'My horse hates puddles' - horses are amazing at taking to the water treadmill, starting off slowly introducing the water and increasing water and time over the block of sessions bought. Most horses don’t notice the water and once they are relaxed working it’s not a problem. I can’t guarantee they will walk through puddles though!
