Exploring the Benefits of Kinesiology Taping for the SI Joint.

Is your horse suffering from a stiff back?

If so kinesiology taping is one of many ways I can help to release your horses back.

It can help 👇🏼

🐎Stabilise the joint
🐎Pain relief
🐎Improve alignment

Stabilization: The tape is designed to mimic the elasticity of the skin, allowing for a full range of motion while providing stability to the SI joint. This can be especially beneficial for horses with hypermobility or instability in the pelvic region.

Pain Relief: Kinesiology taping may help alleviate pain associated with SI joint dysfunction by promoting better circulation and reducing pressure on sensitive structures. The tape can create a lifting effect on the skin, potentially reducing compression on nerve endings.

Improved Alignment: Kinesiology tape can encourage optimal alignment of the SI joint, assisting in restoring balance to the pelvic region. This can be particularly useful for horses with asymmetries or misalignments contributing to SI joint issues.

Please get in contact if your horse could do with this treatment. 👇🏼

👀 Kinesiology Taping 👀

What is it?

It is an elastic cotton strip with an acrylic adhesive that is purported to ease pain and disability from athletic injuries and a variety of other physical disorders.

It can be used on horses, dogs, various other animals if you wanted and is most commonly used on humans.

If your horses or dogs are shy of persistent touch or any tools used in massage, physio, chiropractic or osteopathy kinesiology taping is a great way to rule out any tension and tightness with very little touch.

The tape relieves areas of inflammation and discomfort by lifting underlying fascia leading to increased blood flow and aiding lymphatic drainage.

Please get in touch with any questions or to book your fury friend in 🥰

Swipe left for Honey’s 🍯 relaxed eyes 👀 🐶

This is the face of a dog enjoying the body work for her arthritis🦴

As our canine companions age many may experience the discomfort of arthritis.

While traditional treatments exist, an increasingly popular and holistic approach to alleviating their pain is through massage therapy.

Massage offers several benefits for dogs with arthritis. Firstly, it promotes increased circulation, aiding in the delivery of nutrients and oxygen to affected joints. This enhanced blood flow can reduce inflammation and contribute to the overall well-being of your furry friend.

Moreover, massage helps to relax muscles and improve flexibility, which is crucial for dogs coping with arthritis.

Additionally, the emotional well-being of dogs with arthritis is often overlooked. Regular massage sessions provide a bonding experience between the owner and the pet, fostering trust and reducing anxiety

The power of touch through massage can be a game-changer for dogs struggling with arthritis.

If arthritis is something your furry friend is struggling with right now then drop me a DM and I can help! 🐶🦴 🐾

Basil 🌿 posing for the camera 📸

Just a little something to read if you have a dressage horse 🐎 👇🏼

Dressage horses perform intricate and precise movements, they showcase a harmonious partnership with their riders/owners. The intricate and precise movements do take a toll on their flexibility and mobility.

So here’s how massage can help you and your horse have a smoother ride through practice and competitions🐴.

Firstly, it aids in enhancing flexibility and range of motion, crucial for the intricate movements demanded in dressage. Additionally, massage helps alleviate muscle tension and soreness, promoting relaxation and reducing the risk of injuries during training or competition. Improved circulation resulting from massage contributes to better nutrient and oxygen delivery to muscles, fostering overall well-being. Lastly, the calming effect of massage can positively influence a horse's mindset, aiding in better focus and responsiveness during dressage routines.

Wow all of these benefits???😱

Yesss most definitely 👏

Hip dysplasia in dogs 🐶

Have you got a dog that has hip dysplasia?

All that, wow! 🤩

You can also do some exercises regularly at home. 👉🏼

🐶 Sit to stand with treats or no treats
🐶 balance exercises like giving paw 🐾 or lifting each limb.
🐶 Incline walking when out on walks to increase muscle.

The C7 STRETCH on Poppy ft. Nelson nibbling on my hair 😂🐎

The C7 stretch is a release of the cervical 7 vertebrae. In this image I demonstrate with Poppys owner how it’s done. When it’s complete you hear a pop through the vertebrae and that’s it; that’s the C7 stretch complete.

This stretch gives the horse such relief through there head carriage, neck and withers. They should also have longer strides and a wider gait when this stretch is done.

If you think your horse is experiencing a simulated C7 and you’re noticing signs of a shorter stride or a tightened gait when mounted or unmounted then pop me a message to book in.

🚨PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME WITHOUT A EQUINE THERAPIST THAT HAS KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WITH THIS STRETCH AS IT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF NOT DONE PROPERLY🚨

I look forward to hearing from you…

RACE HORSES 🐎

These magnificent animals possess a combination of speed, agility and grace. From their thundering hooves on the track to the precision of their movements, racehorses represent the pinnacle of equine excellence.

But unfortunately it does come with many injuries.

Here’s how …

From constant training through to being run at the fastest speeds possible, horses are put through the wringer during their racing careers. There are a wealth of injuries that they can pick up during this time, with some of them being more serious than others.

Massaging a race horse pre and post event and on a regular basis can really help prevent them from injury. By massaging pre event you stimulate circulation of blood, oxygen and nutrients to the muscles therefore the horse begins its race with well stimulated muscles. Massaging post event and on a regular basis can increase flexibility , reduce muscle tension that has built up from a race, relieve poll tension, aid muscle recovery, harmonise horse and rider balance, increase muscle conditioning and detoxification. All these benefits of massage for race horses from young to old have a massive impact positively in there racing lives. More treatment for race horses should be mandatory due to their intense training and racing both flat and jump races.

Consider this for your race horses.

Start this winter season with regular treatments and watch them win a whole load of races .

Have you ever heard of kissing spine 💋

It’s most commonly found in horses when vet checks are undertaken. It’s such a shame for a horse to have this condition but it doesn’t stop them from being the best!

Kissing spines occur when vertebrae in the spine are too close together, rather than being spaced apart as in a healthy spine.

Most horses diagnosed with this condition can return to ridden work after appropriate veterinary treatment and a recommended rehab programme. Which is where I can help you. In some cases they may be unable to return to the same level of work as before but are able to work at a lower level of work.

Massage is of huge benefit to this condition as it can often remove the need for surgery! 😱 Along side some core exercises to to improve your horses core stability and flexibility. Wow! 🤩 No traumatic surgery’s and most certainly half the price 💵.

Please do refer to your vet for a a confirmed diagnosis if you think your horse maybe experiencing “kissing spines”. Do get in contact with any questions or to book in for your horses treatment.

CRUCIATE LIGAMENT DAMAGE 😬😣🐶

We have all heard how common and awful cruciate ligament damage is, right?!

Well here’s how my treatments can help you dog owners and your furry friends post cruciate ligament surgery or if you decide not to go for the surgery.

Massage can help with both damaged and post surgery cruciate ligament repair by combating swelling and helping areas of overcompensation on the unaffected leg. Treating the unaffected leg is just as important as quite often when a dog has had an operation or injury on one stifle the other leg will be trying to take the weight which will result in compensatory muscle tension making that unaffected leg more prone to the same injury. Massage will also help with back, neck and shoulder pain due to the dog having to adjust their gait and posture to cope with the injury. It also reduces inflammation, promotes mobility, significantly improves comfort levels and pain management.

If this is something your going through currently with your doggo then please feel free to get in touch with any questions or to book them in for some much needed treatment.

Have you got a Mare in foal?

Yes 🙌

Then let me tell you how I can make her pregnancy a little easier for her.

Massage therapy has proven to be extremely beneficial for pregnant mares to help reduce muscle soreness due to compensated movement from the growing fetus. Many pregnant mares just like us women can also develop edema (swelling) under their belly and their legs towards the end of the pregnancy and massage can help mobilise that fluid and decrease the discomfort associated with it.

FACT ✅

Back in the summer this year I treated these two beautiful horses in the images tagged to this post that were in foal. Believe me they gave great feedback. From lip tremors , limb relaxing and a few calming noises. They were very rewarding treatments and they just looked so happy, relaxed and so comfortable afterwards.

Please feel free to reach out and ask any further questions on massage for pregnant horses or to book your pregnant horse in for some well deserved relaxation😮‍💨

Even points of pelvis/hips.

Swipe left for lady’s even pelvis/hips.

An even point of pelvis check is a technique used to check if your horses pelvis is sitting correctly. It can also indicate any abnormalities within the pelvis.

Such as:

🐎Muscle tension/tightness
🐎Lameness
🐎Back problems
🐎Ridden problems

Here we have Lady the Connemara/Irish draft. At the beginning of her treatment I detected her uneven pelvis (which is in the first picture) this was due to muscle tightness and tension in her glutes.

With some various techniques I was able to break this down as seen in the second picture.

Lady will now feel much more comfortable tracking up from behind and have less strain through her back.

If this the sort of release you think your horse needs or would like me to come and check, feel free to DM me.

REMEMBER my prices are set at £20 for full treatments until the end of August so grab a bargain!💥

Bated stretches 🥕

Why do we do them?

We do them to check for the flexibility through your horses head carriage and to simply stretch their necks.

It’s a great thing to add to your routines, especially at the end of a ride. They carry tension through the muscles in their necks regularly. At what extent depends on what your horse does for work.

Use carrots 🥕 or other horsey treats. Ask them to come round to you for the treat.

For example see these four pictures I got with Letty the beautiful Irish ☘️ draft. She did her stretches perfectly!

Any questions please DM me.

Tail work

How can this help your horse…

If your horse is suffering with lower back pain, (lumbar and sacral vertebrae pain) a gentle tail pull for about 10 seconds will help relieve any stress or tension in the lower back.

Tail pulls to the side can help with this too but they can also help stimulate the pelvic stabiliser muscles and engage your horses core.

Feel free to drop me a DM with any questions re the tail work or anything else.
