Who remembers our post about Hemal a hogs born in our rescue in May 2023.
After many trials and tribulations he became a lovely big hog overcoming everything thrown at him. Hi s brothers and sister were released last year, but he had to learn what it was to be a hedgehog.
He final was released after 18 months with us and after loving care form our wonderful foster a beautiful big boy. He is enjoying being a wild hog and attracting the affections of the ladies. He visits us every night and maybe still lives in one of the hog boxes.
Great video from one our lovely release sites, thank you for sharing with us.
When there’s an itch - you’ve just gotta scratch it!!!
Harrison is becoming a real ladies man, he came into the rescue after being found trapped in an artificial grass roll, he lost a toe and had other injuries, released at 762g on 30th June. Live happy big man.
Sorry we haven't updated for a while but it's been a bit hectic.
Will give you all an update on everyone very soon.
This evening we welcomed another little one in, Briony is 170g
Just an update on little ones we currently have in.
The Spices first of all, sadly we lost Parsley RIP young man., the other are doing brilliantly
Chives is now 283g (in at 108g)
Saffron 283g (115g)
Sage 279g (96g)
Paprika 243g (99g)
So please with how they are doing.
Odin & Thor are both struggling and have lots of internal parasites which they are on medication for.
We also recently have had in Hagrid (91g) now 131g, yesterday we had Koopa in (101g) today 130g they were both on their own so after a check they were introduced together and they are getting on brilliantly.
Here's a update on the Herbs & Spices siblings 🦔🦔🦔🦔🦔
We have successfully stopped hand feeding the siblings & started to change the food gradually reducing the puppy milk mousse mixture to pure mousse & introducing them to biscuits. All the siblings have been steadily putting on weight. Unfortunately thought, Parsley has had a few issues meaning he's had to be taken to the vets for some additional care.
💙 Chives (M) 🩷 Saffron (F) 💛 Sage (F) 🧡 Paprika (F) 💜 Parsley (M)
Sorry for the delay in letting you know how much we made at our recent stall at the Coop.
We now have the final amount.....
£675.08 !! This is a staggering amount for us to raise in a few hours.
So grateful to the Coop letting us have a stall. So grateful and proud of our team of volunteers who rallied round to make this happen. Couldn't have done it without you

🦔🦔🦔🦔 FACT FRIDAY 🦔🦔🦔🦔
Mating- Usually the male hedgehog (Boar) will rouse from hibernation first(March/April), he will feed and gain weight before starting the search for a mate. Hedgehogs usually become sexually mature during their second year. Males will mate with many females and vice versa. As more females become pregnant, the males may travel further afield in search of females. The male circles the female and she turns to keep facing him, huffing at him, until she is ready to mate. This can take hours! Once pregnant- the male plays no further part in raising the hoglets- the female (sow) does this alone.
Having fun. Summer babies.
Another little hoglet today.... 120g Lily. Found by Liz and her grandsons.... love it when young people show such caring towards wildlife.
Lily was a little dehydrated and very hungry. Luckily no flystrike!
Meet our latest babies( around 3/4 weeks old).
Their finder found Kelly then about 30 mins later Lewis appeared. Thank you for saving them! No mum around. They were dehydrated and very hungry.
So far they are doing well and enjoying tiny kitten biscuits and mousse. Fingers crossed 🤞. Send them all your love.🦔🦔
