As the temperature rises owners of fur bearing breeds begin to realize their pets are hot. Mistakenly, many think that clipping these breeds down will help them be cooler. Nothing could be farther from the truth.
This time of year it's common to see these breeds 'blowing coat', meaning that massive amounts of undercoat are shed out at once. However, clipping is not the answer. Instead your professional groomer can remove that crazy amount of undercoat and help keep it in check year round.
This allows the coat to properly perform it's job of keeping the body cooler. The attached undercoat works like insulation keeping cooler air near the body while the guard coat reflects heat away. But when loose undercoat is not properly removed it impedes the coat from doing it's task.
Professional groomers provide so much more than a haircut. Talk to your groomer about booking an appointment for your fur bearing breed to keep them comfortable year round!

Let’s talk, lumps, bumps, sores and cysts

As pet groomers, we get to see your pets every day and we can be your second pair of eyes. In fact, we use more than just our eyes when grooming a pet our senses are quite heightened so we get to use our eyes, our touch and our sense of smell 🤢.

When your pet comes to us, we get many opportunities to get hands on with them and spot anything out of the ordinary. We get to give them a cuddle when they first come in. Then when bathing them we get into every nook and cranny, and this is often where we find the lumps bumps sores and cysts.

If we don’t notice something there, we will then sometimes uncover them when we are doing the hair cut.

Now we are not vets. However we do a lot of training in animal anatomy and first aid and seeing pets every day we get to learn what is normal. what’s abnormal and what’s out of place.

If we do find something that is unusual, out of place or causes us concern, we will always let you know and recommend that you speak to your Vet about what we’ve highlighted. We will often take photos of the area as well and we are happy to share these photos with you if it would help you and Vet work out what the issue is.

Over the years we have actually saved some of our customers lives by finding lumps and bumps and showing them to the owners and recommending a Vet follow-up.

You may think taking your pet to the groomer is all about the haircut, but we have many other benefits. We may even save your pets life.

🐾 January is Walk Your Dog Month! 🐾

This is the perfect time for us to get out and about with our furry friends and walk off some of that lingering festive food weight. 🙈

This awareness month exists to highlight the many health benefits of walking for both us and our dogs. It really can help swat away the January blues and improve our overall well being.

So if there's one thing you commit to this month as your New Year's Resolution, make it a daily dog walk!

Wrap yourselves up warm and head off on a fun adventure today.
