Had an amazing time at bereleigh fun ride today with the best group of people and horses! Derrys second ever fun ride and was a total pro like he's been doing it his whole life. We got some great leads over the jumps and jumped some pretty big ones too! He didn't hesitate over anything even when we did some without a lead. Had so many lovely canters the ground was nicely cushioned on the grassy stretches and wasent really hard. We were the first on the course and didnt have anyone overtake the whole time which is nice! It's my first time at the bereleigh ride as I've always been competing on that day previously but it's probably the best one I've ever done! And can't beat only being 20 mins from the yard! Thank you so much to Amanda, lizzie and alexandra for the best company and an amazing time, think derry enjoyed going along with 3 ex racers and definitely kept up with them too!

Always working on my display. Each year more gets thrown away I'm not sure how many 100s of rosettes I've thrown away now and some sashes 😪 wish they stayed nice forever but they end up going mouldy 😔

riding early everyday this week although not easy when there's several to ride! I'm enjoying riding at work too getting to ride some Spanish horses which is one of the only few breeds I had never ridden before starting at this job. Im pretty adaptable ive always ridden anything and everything including from 13hh to nearly 19hh! I've ridden Arabs, welsh, new forest, tb, Cleveland pay, Irish draught, friesian, andalusian, trotter, gypsy cob and of course my own horses are a real mix being hannovarian, Polish warmblood, connemaras and cob! I'm yet to ride a heavy horse breed which i would love to do. Need to add that to the list! Anyway just a random ramble today going off topic sorry!

Stay cool everyone 😎

Another day of showjumping and so proud of derry again! This time we didn't have a lesson there the day before so he had to go in and be brave. More forward and confident to begin with, still some wobbles and lack of concentration at times cost us a pole down in each class so no placings today. But much more fluid rounds and no trotting into jumps 🤣

he jumped everything asked of him, we only had one unlucky stop in second class at a very big oxer which seemed to be bigger than the rest and others also had trouble with with this jump but flew on second attempt. Considering he would stop at least a few times each time I jumped even little tiny cross poles he's making huge progress! Proud of how confidently I rode today and encouraged him round. I love being able to be so vocal after doing dressage for so many years and not being able to speak to the horse it's definitely what a nervous horse needs lots of vocal encouragement. People probably wish I would shut up 🤣 but it got him round so that's the main thing! Proud of the boy, he's not straightforward and ready made but makes it so much more rewarding

OUR FIRST SHOW!!! and I think derrys first ever show and we went showjumping! I haven't done a sj competition in about 10 years! Went with no expectations and just for experience and no pressure for speed and placings. WE ONLY WENT AND CAME 2ND!!!!

we came 2nd out of 10 in the first class 60cm even winning prize money then we came 9th out of 30 in the 70cm. The biggest course we've jumped together so far. He was flying and so confident. I felt like I would happily have jumped an 80 round on him today and a couple of months ago he was scared of a 1ft cross pole! We have so much more to come so it's so exciting we can achieve those results right at the beginning.

I've realised with derry that repetition is what helps his confidence so we went to crofton yesterday for a jump clinic and I'm so glad we did. It's like riding 2 different horses with him sometimes. Yesterdsy he didn't even want to go into the arena, wouldn't go anywhere near the jumps or banners. Had 3 stops at the beginning but then flew round by the end looking amazing and so brave. Then today a little nervous when entering arena and looky at jumps but flies everything! With him it's just going to be exposure and keeping building his confidence at new venues. We've achieved more in 3 months than what you would hope for in years. I'm so proud of us both it's not all been sunshine and roses it's been hard work at times but now we're having the time of our lives! As always I'm so greatful to have derry in my life and so greatful to his owner nicky for giving me this opportunity. Everyday I love him more and more! Some things are just meant to be!

Yet another amazing photo of derry the cross country machine! Also showing off his very smart new hair cut! Still only our 3rd time jumping cross country but feeling so much better every time. This was the only jump we jumped on the fun ride yesterday. And i only did this one as I wanted a photo 🤣 it was much bigger than it looks and wide! Definitely not what I would pick for our first jump so I wasent expecting him to fly over it on his own just like that! Our first time xc he was scared of tiny baby jumps but no more! So excited for this summer with him

It was his first fun ride and he was a total saint. Thank you Amanda for a lovely ride, we even gained two more friends along the way with identical horses to ours 🤣 so we all had some lovely canters together. Derry hasent cantered in a group yet but again he was perfect! Always happy to go infront or behind just a total chilled boy. He is the best!

How amazing is this photo of us at camp!!!! The second time we've ever gone xc and looking like we both do it all the time despite us both being green! Imagine how much better we will be by the end of summer when we know eachother better and we're out regularly! The photos of us at camp were all amazing and I could have brought tonnes but I'm poor and want to buy photos at other events when we up the heights and we're in show gear! This ones by far my favourite though. He was over jumping everything huge. He was basically doing 3ft rounds 🤣

He schooled beautifully today and had some real self carriage moments in the canter where he can get really fast and strong and on the forehand it's tempting to just pull but giving and retaking the reins makes him have to find his own balance and not balance on my hands and made the downwards trans so much better too. I just love riding him so much. He's definitely a racehorse in a cob body. Don't think I've ever ridden a horse so forward going. Really looking forward to another outing on Sunday 😁

Castle copse shelley moores 3 day camp rundown. It's long but this is about not only my progression with derry over the 3 days but my social anxiety and going to a camp completely on my own not knowing a sole and on my 30th birthday so worth a read or if not watch the video! 2 months ago I didn't even know derry! And this was our 3rd Outing. At the moment it's not about jumping the biggest as I know we're both capable of going much higher but it's about building the foundations and his confidence

Day 1- I was worried how derry would cope being stabled as he's lived out for the last year completely. Didn't need to worry he was straight away totally chilled and treated it like home! Our lesson on Friday was sj with loads of scary fillers. He took a disliking to a big wide water tray with some water in and some planks but jumped them once he had seen them and flew over the other fillers first time. Overall I was happy with the session.

After lessons I found it difficult to talk to people as everyone knew eachother and were already in little groups so feeling overwhelmed I hid in the lorry for a while wondering if I had done the right thing coming alone. Gave myself a kick up the backside and said " your not going to make it any easier by hiding away" and got back out there. Asked some people if I could join them and explained I knew nobody and feeling a little awkward and they were lovely and welcoming and kind. Had a lovely dinner of lasagne and you can never go wrong with me with offering unlimted cake 🤣 thoughout the whole weekend i just ate cake all day! Had a great evening and felt so happy to be there in great company.

Day 2- derry was totally chilled again. We had xc in the morning some on surface some on grass. He was so much more confident than the previous day and flew everything. No refusals he was loving it. Hr even went straight over the water tray he hated the day before. Had so much fun was a perfect session to have on my birthday he was a total pro! Then we had a rider alignment session with rider physios and actually I didn't look too wonky which is suprizing with my scoliosis. I just can't do a cl with my eyes closed at all! Derry went beautifully on the flat and we both had loads of admirers and lovely comments from lots watching! He's turning into a super dressage boy too! Dinner was lovely again and I actually drunk alcohol and had a great evening again with more wonderful people who sung happy birthday and gave me a cake and made so much effort to include me. Probably one of the best birthdays I've ever had

Day 3
Our last session was a grid type session but round a course with some doubles and a bounce and a couple of fillers which he just flew over without looking at! he was feeling so much more confident as the camp went on. Totally differnt to how we started. A lovely lunch to finish the food has been amazing and then we left.

Overall I loved everything so much. Shelley was a fantastic instructor, the facilities were amazing derry was a superstar and had such lovely people. I think it was the best way I could have spent My 30th birthday. I'm not interested in parties or going out getting drunk. I always spent my birthday doing something exciting with the horses and thats just how I like it. I'm so proud of the progress I'm making with derry we've come such a long way in just 2 months and I'm also proud of pushing myself to do this on my own and trying to make new friends and not hide away! Every single person was so lovely and I enjoyed chatting to everyone and just being in their company. I've come a long way from the girl who would be too afraid to say hello to anyone and avoided people in any situation. I can't thank everyone involved in this weekend enough for making it a dream come true for me literally ive been wanting my whole life to go to camp and it was so worth the wait. One of the best things if not the best thing I've ever done

So tomorrow something really exciting is happening. WERE GOING TO CAMP!!!!!

3 days of horsey fun at one of the best venues with the best horse and my first ever camp! Its my 30th birthday present to myself and couldn't think of a better way to spend it. I've wanted to go to a camp for so long but because I did several stay away championships a year with forest I could never afford to. I still can't afford to it's bankrupted me but hopefully will be worth it! I've decided to go completely alone not knowing anyone in hope to make some new friends 🤞 so excited!

There may be some new followers or old that decided to follow me to follow my dressage journey wondering why my page says "koren marner dressage" but I never post about dressage.

Dressage has been my main focus for many years although I've always wanted to jump but never really had horses that could do it properly as I've always had rescues and rehabilitation cases that have health problems and forest can't jump to save his life 🤣 I wanted to do eventing and bsja but never had a horse for it and once I worked on a dressage yard I got seriously into it and decided to go down that path. I really wanted to get to grand prix and I think forest could have achieved it if he didn't have a serious injury. Unfortunately I was about to compete in my first psg with forest showing huge promise for the higher levels but it wasent meant to be. I'm so glad I got to compete in my tailcoat though a dream for so many. I was actually loosing the love of dressage a little and the more time passed I wished I could do other disaplines.

So I won't be posting about dressage for a while, not sure how long for. I will be doing a little bit on derry at some point but thats not my focus. So I really hope everyone still wants to follow me as I show the progression of me and derrys partnership from the very beginning. He will be a general all rounder for me. I will also be showing darcy hopefully at some bigger shows and doing some big qualifiers and championships as well as some jumping. I will also have updates about the other horses and my work. Let me know if there's anything else you want to see? Training videos etc I can do. But basically this page is to show the full honest account of competing, working as a freelance groom, having my own yard and producing horses that have never been ready made. I've always had either unbacked, very green, problem horses, rehabilitation cases or rescues and I enjoy working with these types of horses it's so rewarding although hard work and I never ever give up on any horse

WE ARE BACK!!!!
something I never thought would happen again, me and darcy got back out showing and he carried on his winning streak in the veteran! Judge said his show was faultless and he looks fantastic for his age. Had lots of people coming up to me saying how gorgeous he is and we'll done. Showing is so friendly I love it.

He came 2nd in foreign breeds beaten by a beautiful fresian so wasent suprized! We qualified for swpa championships which is exciting! He did so well in strong classes I was not expecting such good results made me quite emotional as we've been through so much especially this last 6 months. We both loved it and looking forward to more. I didn't stay for the championship as ground was hard and didn't want to wait. Thank you mum for our lovely new bridle/browband/ bit as an early birthday present. Looking much more the part now although still wearing my £10 show jacket, Asda school shirt and second hand £10 jods 🤣 just keeping it real!
