March 2025 vs October 2025 🥰

He is a total dream. Some things are meant to be!
I say this about most or all of the horses. They are all such a pleasure to ride and take out ( most of the time) but they didn't come to me like that. I have a yard full of amazing horses that ive had to work my but off to get them to this point. I've never had a ready made or easy horse

Forest- I backed and produced him myself to advanced dressage before his injury

Smokey- I was given for free from the field out of work with kissing spine. I had to rehabilitate him and bring him back into work. He used to buck me off all the time but he turned out incredible winning one day events and competed up to medium dressage

Darcy- £800 rescue horse that was written off by vets had many behavioural and physical issues that took years to overcome. Used to rear vertical, was dangerous to hack and very sharp spooks. Competed him from intro to advanced medium now showing at county level at 22 years old!

There's been many more rescue and problem horses that ive owned and achieved amazing things with but if i list them all this post will never end!

The horses have been amazing as usual for hacking, schooling and pole work. Had a brilliant trip out with smokey and derry on wednesday i parked at work and had a ride round the commons with my friend/ head groom! Met cows very closely, had lots of laughs, canters and jumped some xc jumps! Im really excited to go back for more exploring. Its so good to be able to take 2 horses out in the lorry on my own and they didn't put a foot wrong the whole day. Such easy boys. Im using the lorry this month for hacking adventures and fun outings and avoiding hacking at mine as much while there's so much going on with tree felling etc. Was going to be showjumping a few times this month but I dont really have the money or the time so its good for us to just chill for a while. Hopefully derry doesnt go backwards again with the jumping as last time I had a break from it he did, but I can't be going out every week consistently so he will have to deal with it 😆

Derry is just such a pleasure in every way. There's nothing that is hard work with him he's just so easy! This is the first time ive clipped a whole head but he gets so sweaty it needed to be done. He doesnt like having his face brushed so he was amazing to let me clip it.

He enjoyed 3 days off after hunting he slept a lot! But yesterday we had a lovely long ride on our own on a route he's not done before and he was the best he's ever been out hacking( he is always amazing though) today he schooled beautifully. Day off for him again tomorrow then outing on wednesday!

On derrys days off it doesn't mean I ride any less! Forest has started trot work properly and he's feeling the best he's felt since the injury 🙏🤞 darcy is going well and smokey too. Everyone is clipped now and looking very smart. And I have several horses im riding for work too. Very busy with work as always this time of year, plus my full time job at my own yard 🤣 no matter how much i rush around and tick jobs off the list it just gets longer!

A lifelong goal and another thing off the bucket list ticked off. I WENT HUNTING!!!!

mine and derrys first ever time hunting and i picked the worst day for it! I was watching the forecast like a hawk and it said 60% chance of light rain so I thought it might not even rain. Didn't start until I set off but it was relentless, 3 hours out in that weather without a coat when there was lots of standing around was not too fun. If I had known it would be so bad I wouldn't have gone as it was so boggy and slippery and everyone was cantering downhill on pure slippery mud. I tried to pull him up but everyone kept galloping past so I had no chance of stopping him or slowing down. That was exactly what I was worried about and put me off about going 😬 so I probs wont go again. But we survived!

omg he was AMAZING!!!! first time seeing hounds first time being out in a big group. Everyone loved him and thought he was a proper hunter that goes all the time as he looked the part and was so well behaved. He can be impatient so the standing and waiting was great for him and he was one of the best! When I got him he wouldn't even stand and let a car pass in a lay by. And having the hounds run under his feet and between us and behind us is great for getting him used to dogs. I had no control and galloped over jumps with no reins as they had slipped out my hands due to how wet it was and how much he was pulling 🤣 some people thought i didn't have it in me to go hunting but I was very confident, even the hairy bits didn't bother me too much!

Im proud of myself for taking this leap as I didnt know anyone I went completely alone, what to expect or how derry would be but I met loads of lovely people and made new friends and who knows if all the stars aline I might go again if the weather and ground is perfect in winter....haha and I can afford it! ( so very unlikely) but super proud of us both and glad ive finally done it! I feel like weve got such a great bond now and we enjoyed eachothers company despite the weather

Ps the hounds follow a layed scent thats man made there is no hunting of any animals as I do not agree with this

DERRY THE SUPERSTAR......again 😂🥰🏆

2nd place out of 14 in 70cm with a clear round just 3 seconds off a win! and our first go at an 80cm finally! 1 pole down so 9th out of 13 but we were actually the second fastest! ( there were lots of clears) Been hoping to do an 80 for about 10 years! And never had a horse that was out competing jumping that big, not since my teenage years when I used to jump very big on crazy horses! And he jumped it like its nothing, still so much scope, but need to get him stronger still and keep things small for a while but its in there! I was eyeing up the 90cm thinking i would so happily do that. 6 months ago jumping a cross pole on derry scared me. Everyday I see more and more exciting glimpses of what he can be in the future, his confidence is growing every time.

I will admit we wouldn't have achieved this without our jump clinic at wood farm yesterday testing out the new venue. Although was pretty pleased with only 1 stop out of all the scary fillers. Next time we try without the lesson the day before! But considering our last showjumping show several months ago we were eliminated at jump 5 as he wouldn't jump away from the entrance today is a HUGEEEEEE win!!!!!!!

Thank you dad for coming and videoing and mum offering to pay for me to do the 80cm as she said ( your both capable of more ) she was right 😁

OMG DERRY YOU SUPERSTAR!!!!🌟
Our first hunter trial and first time doing pairs and we smashed it with a clear and 4th place out of 30 entries at munstead horse trials. We were 13 seconds too fast!!!! And there's me hoping we would trot round, we flew!
It was a full up 70cm course but he was absolutely flying over everything and trying to overtake at times 🤣 there was certainly plenty of scope!

I cannot thank Natalie Collis and india enough for being the best pair and doing an amazing job, we could not have done it without them!

Its the biggest thing weve done so far, the warm up was chaos and derry felt nervous but he kept it all together. I've only done 5 hunter trials in my life and 3 were a small pony club one. I'm totally out of practice with all this, 6 months ago jumping a cross pole on derry was a challenge for us both. Who would believe weve only known eachother 6 months! I was barely nervous at all in the start box and during the course I was totally relaxed and ive never enjoyed anything more in my life. I loved every second and so did derry! Planning next one already im addicted! Not bad for a dressage rider if i dont say so myself 😁

What a fantastic day riding all day long in the sun 🌞

Cathi asked me to school a couple of horses at Crofton so I decided to take derry along as well to have a jump with some company incase we needed a lead over jumps. The last time we showjumped there he was really nappy and only jumped 4 jumps then didn't want to jump away from the other horses so I haven't done any showjumping since. I'm hoping doing pairs xc and hunting will make him more confident to then be happy to showjump alone. HE WAS AMAZING. Didn't need a lead over anything or even really need the company he just got on with the job flew everything loved it no hesitation and jumped a couple of 80+cm with no probs and some clear rounds. So proud of him! Hopefully it will continue!

Bently was a star to school he's such a lovely horse to ride. Thank you cathi! We ended up with less horses to ride in the end at Crofton but I got back to have a 2 hour hack on darcy with Loretta and smokey they were fresh and it was eventful but very fun!
