Happy Birthday Billie & Co! 🥳

B&Co turns 4 today and I couldn't be more proud (and somewhat relieved!) to have reached this milestone! If you tuned into my stories this morning you will have heard me say that a lot of businesses don't reach the 3 year mark so this is definitely a proud moment for me 💪🏻

We couldn't do it without you!

Because I'm not going to lie, it might look lovely and glossy from the outside but running a business is f***ing hard. The sheer amount of things you have to be on top of all at once is mind boggling for a start, then there's actually doing them and coming anywhere close to nailing it. I'm sure plenty of other small businesses will agree with me there! This last year alone has been a tricky one to navigate and it has been your love as customers for the brand that kept us going! It's been this support that has made me dig deep, get creative with problems and keep putting one baby step in front of the other.

For this, I want to say a huuge thank you. Your unwavering supporting us over this last year is the reason we're still here. Thank you! 🙏❤️

Screw Black Friday, Colour Friday is where it's at.. We're cutting through the noise, the dark and the pressure to bring joy, colour and happiness back to your Christmas 🌈🎄

WHAT IS and WHY is it special?
Simply, Colour Friday aims to turn Black Friday on its head. It is the creative small business answer to the mass production, soulless consumption and support of billionaires. It aims to encourage people to shop small and love local! With recent events, small independent businesses need you, their valued customers support now more than ever.

SCARY STATS:
1. Small businesses generate £2.4 trillion per year for the UK economy and employ 16.7 million people. (FSB 2024) (not that scary, it's great!)
2. Last year, Black Friday sales were around £13.3 billion (Mintel 2024) (Imagine if some of this was reallocated to the above..)
3. 2 out of 5 people confessed they didn't need what they bought, almost 50% of UK shoppers said they never or rarely used their purchases and almost a 3rd said they regretted it! (Starling Bank 2023)
4. 98% of Black Friday deals aren't actually the cheapest deals. (Which? 2023)
5. 1 in 3 small businesses fear closure by the end of 2024. (Novuna 2024)
6. 'If we each bought just one Christmas gift with an independent this year, we could reallocate a vital £2.7 billion between us!' 2023.

It's consumerism GONE MAD!
Small businesses simply can't justify the discounts that the global brands can and sometimes they're not even that great! (See stat No 4). In the words of Martin Lewis, The Money Saving Expert, 'If you needed it or were going to buy it anyway then you've saved 50%, if you didn't then you've lost 100%'. The majority of it ends up going to waste anyway (Stat 3)

Vote with your money, use the power in your money, whether its a £1 or £100, it's mighty! (combine Stat 2 with 1) Vote for the local people, vote for the sustainably made, vote for the ethical & quality choice of the small and independent businesses, stat No 1 is proof enough and imagine what they could do with an extra couple of billion and what it would do for the local economy!

Take away spend pressure, bring back the joy to Christmas gifting!

A wonderful few days 🥰

We have just returned home after a magical few days away in St Ives in Cornwall. My husband surprised me with the most beautiful little cottage for my 30th birthday, I've been very spoilt 🥳

I immediately took the opportunity to get Billie out in our new Winter 24 range including a Sunday night wander through the fairy lit cobbled streets which of course the Ivy was perfect for 🥰

Guy Fawkes Night 🔥

We hope you're all keeping safe and happy during the week or so that the fireworks, bonfires and displays are happening. We benefit from living rurally during these events, you can still hear the louder fireworks and although one of our more sensitive collies is still a bit nervy of the bangs in the distance, we're relatively unscathed.

Our super soft, cosy brushed cotton Meadow scarves are back on the website. I've been thoroughly enjoying mine, it's blissfully warm and cosy without being too bulky. I can tuck it inside my coat or hoodie and it doesn't get in the way when scooping the p**p. 🐾

With their mum being the owner of leadporium and a huge supporter of dog-based small businesses she has everything and anything beautiful for these two, including many, many of our bandanas! Sonias imagery is stunning and spends a lot of her time photographing products (hers or another small businesses!) on her girls and they enjoy plenty of lovely adventures and day trips together 🥰

Oh the smouldering one is here.. Introducing Heston! The springer X collie that will melt and break your heart with one image. Since this lovely duo joined the team his mumma Justine and I have bonded over all things black (Onyx Collective Collar, any of the Human apparel pieces in black, etc etc, we're obsessed) and everything autumn, we fully adore everything about this season. Heston & his mum love nothing more than getting out for a run together, Canicross-ing to be precise and keeping that busy body and brain of his busy!

Well who is this lovely little lady?! Beautiful Ember the cocker spaniel of course!

Ember & Aimmie are the newbies on the team, after supporting us for months and then joining us back in August they've settled in wonderfully and are off to a flying start with their stunning imagery. Aimmie can alwys be relied upon to get lovely photos just when you need them! This lovely pair are based in Yorkshire and are always out on adventures, usually in the woods or exploring the countries beautiful villages. Ember is also the owner of one of the best canine wardrobes I have ever seen, beaten only by 😉

Now this is a rather heartfelt post. You may have seen on our stories just over a week ago that one of our Brand Ambassadors, the beloved Steel, sadly passed suddenly and unexpectedly. Our hearts go out to Becca his beautiful mumma who has lost her best friend, her rock and most of all, her shadow. Steel went everywhere with Becca, on adventure days (of course), to big shows (to see us!) and even to work everyday. Hearing of the sudden loss of Steel was such a shock, we are sending all our love to Becca & her partner while they adjust to life without their little man. We saw Becca a few days after he passed for a big Billie cuddle and a coffee. She told us 'one day Steel will send another dog to her. He'll tell me when the time is right'.

We know this to be true and while you wait for the time to be right, we'll be right here with you.

While we're away my wonderul BA's will be holding the fort! Each day I will be sharing a little bit about my lovely team & their canines 🥰

To start us off is this handsome young man, Fionn. A 3 year old tri blue merle border collie (no not an aussie) Billie & I had the pleasure of meeting Fionn and his mumma Nicky during our early days as Billie Bandanas. We asked Nicky & Fionn to be our brand ambassadors and the rest is history, we now spend our days at agility competitions, on wonderful walks or photographing the boys.
