Tao's first city visit and important socialisation 🐶
This was such a fantastic opportunity for socialisation for Tao who is 13 weeks old now.
On this trip Tao just watched the world go by being rewarded for not being bothered about whats going on around him
In this trip Tao didn't say hello to people or dogs! The purpose of this trip was to learn that people and dogs are quiet boring but being with me is the most important thing ever!
We had alot of people ask if they could say hello but I kindly said no thank you we are learning to ignore people today.
This is SO important for puppies to learn to ignore the environment around them and to focus on YOU.
On this trip Tao saw so many new things such as:
- wheelchairs
- prams
- screaming children
- mobility scooters
- people wearing sun glasses
- people with big noise shopping bags
- bicycles
- window cleaners
- Street performers
And I'm sure lots more that I didn't even notice!
A social puppy is one that can be calm around the environment they are in

We love using the field later in the evening when it's shady and cool 😎
Tao's first training session out and about!
Tao is nearly 12 weeks old and now the fun begins!
My favourite place to train is an empty car park by our local park before they open their gates for cars to come in. It's a lovely environment that that too distracting but is perfect to train in the "real world"
This session was nice and early (8am) on Sunday after Bodhies beach walk.
I used Tao's breakfast to work on some easy recalls and finding heel position
We also sat on a bench and just watched other dogs and people walked by and I reward Tao for watching them instead of trying to get to them to play. This is a really great way to teach your puppy that YOU are more exciting than dogs and people and watching them go by is just as fun.

6am beach walk this morning with Bodhie
On our walks I like to add in short bursts of obedience every 10 or so minutes as well as rewarding check ins offered by Bodhie
This helps your dog's have a really nice focus on you and is a great way to continue building a strong relationship together in distracting environment 🐶

Did you know when dogs use their nose it creates calmness?
Scattering food into the grass is a fantastic way to promote calmness in dogs and puppies and is also great to keep them calm during the heat

Nope!
This is a great confidence building activity to do with puppies to help them cope with small amounts of stress such as a noisy bottle falling or crunching under their feet.
This game allows the puppy to become more confident with novel things and noises happening around them while they hunt for some tasty treats
This is such a simple activity that cost nothing to do at home that can have such a positive impact on puppies.. and any dogs lives
