RAIN SCALD TREATMENT.

We may need to rename our Mite and Mallander gel to Miracle Gel, given the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received. Recent trials on a case of rain scald demonstrated significant efficacy. The horse presented with severe heat, swelling, and raw patches, yet the gel produced remarkable results. The gel has proven effective against mites, mallanders, mange, flea allergies, and now, rain scald.

Behavior of Neem Oil in Cold Weather:

Neem oil is a natural product often used for its antifungal, antibacterial, and insect-repelling properties, including in horse care. Its behavior in cold temperatures can change due to its physical and chemical properties:

Solidification at Low Temperatures

Neem oil has a high content of fatty acids, particularly oleic, stearic, and palmitic acids. These fats solidify at lower temperatures, typically below 60°F (15°C), causing the oil to thicken or harden. When neem oil solidifies, it may appear cloudy, clumpy, or fully solid, resembling butter or wax which will make a change in its appearance in form and colour.

Impact on Effectiveness:

The physical changes in cold weather do not affect the chemical properties or efficacy of neem oil.

Once returned to liquid form, neem oil retains all its original qualities.

Understanding this behavior is crucial for proper storage and use, especially in colder climates. Always store neem oil in a warm, consistent environment to prevent frequent solidification.

Ghost had a nasty case of mallanders when he came to us. He was the perfect test subject for our mallander products, including our new mite and mallander gel – perfect for his sores.

First, we used our No Moore Mallanders shampoo to break down the keratin buildup. After the feathers dried, we soaked them in feather oil overnight. By morning, the keratin just slid right off. Then, we applied our new mallander cream (or gel for sores, since it's soothing and helps with itching).

That before-and-after photo? A customer review of her cob – shows how our feather oil keeps mud from sticking.
