Really proud of the change in her frame and balance over the last year. She's really grown into a competent dressage horse and as she gets older and more emotionally stable (🤞😅🙏) I know the work will start to pay off at small tour level.

So never let it be said that I left any stone unturned in the quest to better understand my beloved drama llama.

Today, I did something I have never really believed in, we had Sue Abrahams from Tranquil Moments for Reiki and to see if there is anything more I can do to make her happy.

One of the first things that came up is that she knows she's "easily startled" and is sorry 🙈🤣🦙. Yes my love, I had spotted that....

Essentially all she would like is more regular physio, 6 weekly rather than every 3 months as she knows she is struggling to get her hind legs coordinated in her changes so obviously her wish is my command 🫡🦙.

I was concerned that she might prefer jumping to dressage but apparently not, she is proud of herself and us and wants to be really good in the future so that's great news.

Another weird thing that came up is Sue said that I'm an animal communicator myself and should train my "gift". Weirdly, I have always known this myself. I am well aware that they don't speak but I feel what they are thinking/feeling so that's something to think about for the future maybe?! She said I should consider training which is complicated for me as a serious sceptic over something I know I feel and have always felt........confused.......

Lovely to know she's happy and said she really didn't need a communicator as we chat all the time so 🤷‍♀️🥰.

Anyone else tried Reiki for their pony?

Whilst I was having a casual menty b and missed my area festival my girls were busy absolutely smashing it!!
Tappenden Equestrian was represented in 6 classes at the areas and 5 of those were top 6 placed, with the only exception retiring as she had a brain fart and lost her way. 2 girls are guaranteed nationals places and the rest are 🤞 for wildcards.
You all inspire me to do better and try harder. So much love and bursting with pride.

Another Sunday hack, another classic game of Mimi or Pumba, genius edition...🦙🤷‍♀️🐗🤣

All jokes aside little Pumba is turning out to be the complete package.
He's coming on nicely in the school, with leg yields in trot and canter, started little bits of counter canter and his gear changes are really becoming established. He hacks like an absolute pro and is a super model to look at.

First BD show for Dan Watson and Craig Messenger at Aster Horses!
Medium 4, 66.75%
So frustrating when I feel her balance has improved so much and our scores aren't reflecting that atm but I honestly think we are on the brink of a breakthrough so it's just a case of keeping at it.
I love her and know we are on the way up. Back to advanced medium at the next show.

Mimi wears her Shires Tempest fly rug which is so thin and light but keeps those awful flies at bay.

Well, here it is.....
The good, the bad and the ugly, all in 1 test.
Did we end up facing the wrong way a couple of times? For sure. Was she tense and running on my hand to avoid all the scary monsters? Definitely.
But....
I see so much to love and am so excited about her future. She is just one who's going to need loads of time to grow up and not see danger at every turn but I take responsibility for not exposing her to big atmospheres and now she needs the big shows to let her calm down and allow me to ride her.
63.5% and that's pants, I know that but onwards and upwards for my drama llama as I honestly believe she will come in to her own at small tour so time for a gin, shake it off and crack on with training for our show next week.
