Massive congratulations to the following riders and their horses who have been selected to ride at the Senior Home Nations at Addington Equestrian 31st August – 1st September sponsored by The Rural Planning Practice
This year we have seen an unprecedented number of riders applying for this team, 76 in fact – a regional record!
To everyone who made an application – THANK YOU for stepping up and supporting the S&E, there were some fantastic combinations, and this has been one of the toughest selections.
To those who have made the squad, you have thoroughly earned your spot. Now lets see if we can go win that cup on home grounds, for the S&E Region. 🏆💚🐸🍾

Team work makes the dream work!
Following on from my day trip to Hartpury University for the Master Society of Saddlery, introduction to saddlery course I’ve had the privilege of spending a few hours in the workshop with A.E Batchelor. Saddle fit and chiropractics often come hand-in-hand & I’m thoroughly enjoying broadening my knowledge in this field learning from one of the best! Scamp approves too🐶🪡🐴
As well as putting a smile on my face, reviews like this go a long way when running a small business!🌟
If your horse has received a treatment recently I’d love it if you could leave a review either on my page, Holly Clarke McTimoney Animal Chiropractics or drop me a DM🦴

Super offer, can’t recommend the team at Langdale Equine - Langdale Farm enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chiropractic adjustments use a High Velocity Low Amplitude (HVLA) thrust into a joint. This means the thrust is quick, but gentle. Resulting in increased mobility into the joint of interest, as well as significant neurological stimulation.
This neurologic stimulation results in:
🧠 decreased pain
🧠 improved neurological input and output to surrounding musculature
🧠 relaxation of musculature

Many ask, but what is point-to-point all about? Well here’s a brief overview of how Point-to-Point racing came to be…
Point-to-point racing is National Hunt racing for amateur riders. The race days are run at local level by a hunt or a recognised club. For the races at High Easter, the March meet is recognised by the High Easter Racing Club. While the April meet is recognised by Puckeridge and Essex hunt. The sport is overseen by The Jockey Club.
The sport dates back to 1836 when local men used to race their horses from church steeple to church steeple - hence the name point-to-point. The link between the two sports stills exists centuries on. All of the participating jockeys are required to be a member or subscriber of a hunt.
A local point-to-point is undoubtedly a exciting and sociable day out for all. The thrill of a hotly contested race, the opportunity for tax free betting alongside refreshments and a licensed bar. It’s guaranteed to be a good day.
📆1st meet: Saturday 16th March 2024
📆2nd meet: Saturday 13th April 2024
📍 High Easter Point-to-Point, CM1 4QL

Is posture a fundamental factor in the clinical relevance of kissing spine?
This image is powerful! We can clearly see the effects of spinal posture on the proximity of the spinal processes!
But what we might not be aware of is just how much horses live in a “hollow back” posture!
This spinal posture is created by biomechanics, the functional link between the entire topline from the position of the head and neck to the position of the pelvic region.
But also this posture is perpetuated by horses living in a constant sympathetic state and many other factors of domestication, feeding, confinement, hoof balance and human interference on major proprioception centres!

Christmas is over & we’re into the new year… but the dark evenings & infinite mud is still amongst us!
Therefore I just wanted to put out a little reminder…
🌜- evening treatments at this time of year are limited. For any new clients I must see your horse in daylight hours. Artificial light does not provide adequate lighting for assessing your horse properly.
🧼 - Please have your horses clean & dry ready for treatment. Muddy feet & faces is fine but a wet horse means that I cannot obtain true contact when adjusting or during soft tissue massage.

& that’s a wrap on 2023🥂
A massive thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last year. In such a small period of time the business has gone from strength to strength. I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store! I’m certainly looking forward to another year of pampering all your lovely horses🦄
I will still be contactable over the festive period, but please bare with me. Responses may be slower than usual.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year🫶🏼
If we assume that the pelvis is a primary structure that facilitates gait and that gait requires integrated muscle activity on two sides of the body, if we have asymmetry in the pelvic area all gaits will be dysfunctional, period.
Movement into any direction will require compensation by other muscles or will not be accomplished. Compensatory muscle activity is less efficient, energy demands increase, and stress accumulates on poorly aligned joints.
Efficient gait requires the right and left sides of the body to be relatively equally competent in both stance and swing phases of gait.
Gait is the best measure of lack of balance through biomechanical asymmetry.
Hi all!👋🏼
Firstly, thank you for bearing with me this week. Many will know that on Monday morning I bid a final farewell to the queen of my heart, Cynthia. This was by far the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make but it was undoubtedly the best for her.
Cynthia has been my constant for the last 7 years of my life, through every peak and trough & my rock through both my degrees. As well as being my teacher & my bestest friend. My career wouldn’t be what it is without her. And I hope that her legacy will live on through every horse I have the privilege of working with. I will miss her everyday... yes, even when she’s stealing my beer! 🍻
Secondly, I have started to work my way through all my messages. I think I’m nearly on top of them, but if you have contacted me & haven’t heard back, please send me a nudge.
Once again, thank you for your patience, love and support. I’m looking forward to getting back to work next week and catching up with you all. Give your pony a special kiss this weekend❤️🩹
Taking a break!
Just a quick notice to say I am taking a week off next week. Please bare with me during this time. I am not ignoring your messages & enquiries, I will get back to you all asap. ✨
To help move your horse sideways in leg-yield, imagine you are an ice skater …
You push off with one leg toward your other foot, stepping and putting your weight to the side, like an inside foot to an ice skater. Also, you cannot collapse at the waist, or you would fall.

How long is a piece of string?🧵
As every case is treated individually, the frequency of sessions is solely dependent on your animal’s condition. We may recommend weekly session for a month and then reassess how your animal is progressing. Or we may not require to see your pet again for a few weeks. As your pet improves we can gradually reduce the frequency of sessions! 💪🏽☺️

🦴What is McTimoney?🦴 McTimoney is a form of chiropractic technique. Used to target pain or dysfunction neuromuscular system. I’m sure you’re familiar with the concept of a bone being ‘out of place’ or have heard of specific joints being ‘out’. This terminology creates an inaccurate understanding of what it’s actually happening. Instead of the joint being ‘out of place’, the joint is actually restricted within its capable range of motion. We refer to this as a misalignment and it can be corrected using chiropractic adjustments. The goal of any adjustment is to restore the optimal range of motion that the affected joint is capable of. Subsequently alleviating inflammation and pressures on surrounding nerves and soft tissue. The inflammation, similar to a kink in a hose pipe for example - makes it difficult for nerves to transmit their messages correctly. Nerves work alongside the brain and the spinal cord (central nervous system) to control everything in the body. Improving their ability to communicate effectively enhances overall health. The McTimoney technique requires only the use of the practitioner’s hands to deliver high velocity, low amplitude (fast & gentle) adjustments to specific anatomical landmarks. The treatment is non-invasive and often well received by the animals. Post treatment the animal’s range of motion and joint movement co-ordination will be improved, optimising neuromuscular function for longevity. 📆 Appointments available ☎️ 07938118290 (via WhatsApp) 📧 [email protected] ‼️Discount available until end of April! #equinemassage #equinemassagetherapist #horsetherapy #mctimoneyanimalchiropractics #mctimoneyanimalassociation #equestrian #equestriansofinstagram #horsesofinstagram #dogsofinstagram #petsofinstagram #petservice #equinebodywork #equinesportsmassage #equinesportstherapy #essexbusiness #equineenergy #equinerehabilitation #equinerehab #veterinarychiropractor #animaltherap

🧡Until death do us part 🤍 I’ve had a few messages asking more about Cynthia’s journey so here goes… grab a cuppa, this could be a long one☕️ January 2019 - something wasn’t right. Cynth was coming in from the field trembling and struggled to balance when mounted = vet 🤳🏽Anxiously fearing the worst, the results were in: x-rays for kissing spine-clear, PSSM blood tests-clear, neurological tests-clear. Diagnosis? Inconclusive. Our rehab plan included monthly physio sessions. Hydrotherapy, lunging and long reining. Ridden work began in May 2019. June 2020 - she was scoped for gastric ulcers, also clear... Everything was fine until June 2021. Cynthia started presenting with some lameness in her right hindlimb. It was irregular but noticeable when it occurred = back to the vet we go. After a consultation with my vet we referred straight to Rossdales, concerned that something neurological could be occurring. Cynthia underwent almost every diagnostic test available including: •Several lameness & neuro work-ups •Bone scan •More x-rays •Nerve blocks Everything was thrown at her. We maxed my insurance entirely but still the results remained inconclusive. Nothing was significant enough to pinpoint as the cause. In the end, we injected both stifle joints & the sacroiliac joint. Given instructions to build her up again gradually & ‘see how she goes’. Miraculously Cynthia bounced back, much to everyone’s surprise! She’s back in full work (when I’m not galavanting around the world). The carefully crafted rehab plan & regular treatment have been instrumental to her recovery. This journey is what inspired me to follow the chiropractor career. In hope that I will be able educate other horse owners into how to manage their horses not only post injury but the importance of preventative managements to promote overall good health and wellbeing! If you think HC Animal Chiropractics could help you and your horse, get in touch. Drop us a DM o
Riding from the ground😲 When it comes to groundwork, long reining is the technique that mimics riding the most. Similarly to riding, long reining is about guiding the horse with your body language and position whilst supporting them with secondary aids. It is a relatively low-impact activity and is regularly recruited for rehabilitation or returning to work programmes as well as in the early stages of backing a horse. The benefits of long reining are infinite. It provides a fantastic way to observe your horse and can help you to visualise what you feel under saddle. You can work on ridden exercises from the ground and help to improve your horses confidence, straightness, symmetry, co-ordination, posture, strength whilst developing muscle mass. Go out and long rein!🤩 ☎️07938118290 📧 [email protected] #equinemassage #equinemassagetherapist #horsetherapy #mctimoneyanimalchiropractics #mctimoneyanimalassociation #freelancegroom #equestrian #equestriansofinstagram #horsesofinstagram #equinebodywork #equinesportsmassage #equinesportstherapy #essexbusiness #groomslife #equinelife #equineenergy #equinerehabilitation #equinerehab #longreining #horsemanship #groundwork #horsetraining

Busy Sunday! First masters assignment submitted this morning and lots of diary planning for the upcoming week this afternoon. Fitting in several massage treatments, pup sitting, equine rehab programmes, alongside my main job, my own horse and study! There really isn’t enough hours in a day! 🤗
Hugo gradually learning to drop his neck and stretch over this back. Rehab is not only restoring ‘normal life’, its about retraining the horse’s brain to encourage them overcome the pain association they’ve learnt & find a new, better way of going! I’m super pleased with his progress over the last week 🦄
Another day, another treatment! This time for the lovely Ani! 🟣 BENEFITS OF MASSAGE 🟣 - reducing muscle tension - improving circulation - stimulation of the lymphatic system - relaxation - increased mobility and flexibility
Introducing the lovely but ever so troublesome Hugo, owned by Leanne Wakefield. H recently underwent kissing spine surgery and now I’ve got the fantastic opportunity of rehabbing him! Here’s a little video of him enjoying a massage over his operation scar to help reduce the build up of any scar tissue underneath - just watch his little lip🥰😴 I’ll do my best to provide regular updates on his progress 🦄
