Today the CC pups have enjoyed some homemade blueberry biscuit treats.
Did you know dogs can eat blueberries?🫐
Most dogs tend to love the sweet taste.
They are a superfood for our furry friends too! Blueberries are low in calories and contain antioxidants and vitamins C and K. Blueberries contain natural sugars so they shouldn’t have too many.

With the cold, frosty ❄️ weather and the dark nights that are now upon us it’s difficult to give our pups the mental and physical exercise that they require. With the limited daylight hours you may find you are often walking them in the dark.
Our play sessions are the ideal place for them to have fun with their furry friends and stimulate mind, body and soul!

Meet this handsome new addition to the Bicester North pack 😍

Did you know that Canine Company Bicester are fully insured for ten dogs per play session?
But our play groups are much smaller numbers of between 2 and 6 dogs, I fully understand that some pups are more comfortable to socialise with smaller numbers.

I group dogs according to their individual needs, taking into consideration play styles, size, age, breed etc.

All introductions are carried out carefully, initially individually, which also allows a private van travel and time to get to know me, then with one play mate, we build on that slowly to a level which is suitable for the needs of each pup.

My van is individually caged with a soft bed and a bone or chew for the journey to the field of dreams, where toys, friends, play equipment and enrichment activities await.

I run play sessions in a private and secure 2 acre paddock, 1 hour plays or extended play and stays.

Did you know that Canine Company Bicester use a 2 acre, fully secure, adventure playground in the countryside, with tunnels, sandpits, ball pools and lots more.
I run group play sessions where your family members are able to meet and play with lots of new friends, I carefully assess and place them into groups taking into consideration play styles, size, age, breed etc.

At this time of the year it’s difficult to give our pups the mental and physical exercise that they require, especially during daylight hours, and our playground is the ideal place to stimulate mind, body and soul.

Yesterday was all about developing my knowledge, completing a canine body language course. I’m committed to keeping up with current information so I can look after your 4 legged friends and understand them better. I did miss my Monday pup friends though! 🐶

The Importance of toys..

Dogs are sociable creatures; they love spending time with their buddies and playing games.
Good, new experiences are really beneficial to our dogs' well-being, they develop confidence, and the proper stimulation helps to tire them.

Without any exciting activities, An empty, boring dog field would lead to our dogs making their own fun, often ending in inappropriate chase and play. Practised behaviour becomes repeated behaviour

Dogs are happier playing with other dogs and toys.

Today all our CC pups enjoyed participating in Fish Friday 💙🐟

Sprats have a wealth of health benefits for your pup, which include:

🐟 Boosting and maintaining heart function.
🐟 Improving the glossiness of their coat.
🐟 Decreasing itchiness and dryness of the skin.
🐟 Decrease inflammatory processes such as allergies.

Remembering all those who gave their lives for us.
Throughout all wars, humans have
not only been the ones on the front line,
many animals were too, being used for
transport, to rescue people and carry

Many different animals gave their lives to
save the lives of soldiers, these include
dogs, horses, canaries and pigeons.
More than 16,000 homing pigeons were
parachuted into Europe during World
War II.
World War I in which 10 million soldiers
died, also resulted in the deaths of 8
million military horses.

That time of year many of us dread.....Bonfire Night is a time of year that is a real problem for many dog owners and their dogs. The sky is lit up and many dogs suffer fear and terror at the sound and sight of the firework explosions, but there are a number of things you can do to help

Tired Dogs
If your dog has been for a nice long walk and is physically and mentally tired out, they will be much more likely to settle in the evening and less likely to worry about the noise, lights and activity outside.

Surroundings
Take simple measures to make your dog comfortable such as closing the windows and curtains so that the sounds are not as loud and your pet cannot see the fireworks going off.
Switch a TV/Radio on in every room your dog has access to will also help to minimise the noise.
Leaving lights on in every room will minimise the chance of the dog seeing the flashing lights outside, which can be just as frightening to a dog, do this before it goes dark and before the fireworks start as a dog that is already aware of the fireworks will take longer to calm.
Provide your dog with a hidey hole, dogs often hide under or behind things so give them a safe place either a cage with the door open (if your dog is happy in a cage) or drape a blanket over a chair or table
Ideally, start these things a week or two before firework night.

Comfort Food
A frozen stuffed kong can help distract your dog.
Start a new game or trick with your dog, generally keeping him busy. Maybe treat your dog to a new toy and save it especially for Bonfire night.

Other Precautions
Find out the exact date of local firework displays.
Ask neighbours to warn you in advance of any private displays.
Make sure your dog is wearing a collar and ID tag in case they escape in fear.
Top up your dog's water as an anxious dog may be more thirsty than usual
Toilet your dog before the noise and lights start as it is unlikely they will want to go out afterwards, don’t force a frightened dog to go outside.

🍁Autumn Tips for Dog Owners🍁

🍂Day Time Walks - Not all dogs enjoy walking in the dark, things look different and it can be quite unsettling for them, especially if they have failing eyesight or they are anxious dogs anyway.

🍂 Increase indoor activities and play to compensate for the shorter walks that naturally occur in the cold wet weather.

🍂 Keep an eye on your dogs' weight if your walks are reduced then decrease food also, add carrots or green veg to compensate.

🍂 Remove grit or salt from your dogs paws after walks, your dog cleaning salt off its own paws can be dangerous.

🍂 Purchase an Equafleece or Good dog coat to help keep your dog dry and warm (we highly recommend both). When the snow comes rub some oil (olive, baby etc) into your hands and then massage between your dog's toes, around its feet, down its legs, this stops the snow from clogging and causing uncomfortable snowballs.

🍂 BEWARE of Antifreeze!
Pets enjoy the taste of antifreeze so it's important to keep antifreeze well out of their reach. If you spill antifreeze, be sure to clean it up immediately whether inside or outside

Some dogs really do thrive in the company of their own breed, the Poo is one of these.
Poodle, Cockerpoo, Cavapoo, Golden Doodle they love nothing more than another Poo to play with.
They love a good chase and tumble, some like to hold tails, some like to run with toys, they all like to play with each other.
Sweet, loving, friendly, intelligent, and great fun, the poo loves another poo.
