A Woof from Enzo 🐾

Hey hoomans, it’s me, Enzo! Your resident rehab rockstar and snack enthusiast. I’ve got something important to bark about, so paws up and listen closely.

Salt’s Helping Hounds can’t rehome dogs that are, what you call, “banned breeds.” Why? Because it’s ILLEGAL. And while I may have perfected my “innocent puppy eyes,” even I can’t charm our way out of the law. Breaking the rules would put ALL of us rescue dogs at risk, and that’s not fair.

So here’s the deal: please stop popping into our posts asking if a dog is “Type.” We’re here to find happy, legal homes for every doggie, not play Detective Dog Breed. Trust me, the hoomans here know what they’re doing.

Let’s keep things pawsitive so Salt’s Helping Hounds can keep saving lives—including mine! Thank you for understanding, and remember: adopt responsibly, love endlessly, and always bring treats when you visit. 🦴

Woofs and wags,
Enzo 🐕 (The Goodest Boy in Rehab)

Hey everyone, it’s me, Enzo! 🐾

I’m here to tell you two things: one, I’m still dreaming of a warm, comfy sofa before Christmas; and two, I’ve been VERY good this year. Like, "deserves-all-the-treats-and-a-gold-star" good. So, obviously, I’m making sure Santa Paws knows it too. My rescue crew is already drafting a letter to the big guy in the North Pole (paw-written, of course), so he doesn’t miss a single detail about how much of a top-tier good boy I’ve been.
But let’s rewind and talk about how far I’ve come!

My Journey So Far
Before the amazing humans at Salt’s Helping Hounds and Save Our Seized Dogs swooped in, life was, well… ruff. I spent most of my days crammed in a crate, surrounded by other dogs just as scared and confused as me. It was loud, chaotic, and I didn’t even know what safety felt like.
Then one day, like a fairy tale (minus the glass slipper), these wonderful folks gave me a second chance. They whisked me off to doggie rehab paradise, where love, kindness, and patience are the daily specials. And while I was too scared to smile for the camera back then, now I’ve got my cheesy grin down pat. (Seriously, check out my pics. Total heart-melter, right?)
I’m learning how to play, trust, and—best of all—be a dog again. It’s like discovering I’m secretly pawsome!

A Little About Me
Pros:
* I’m a certified lovebug and want nothing more than to please my humans.
* I’m food and toy-motivated—give me a treat or a squeaky, and I’ll move mountains.
* I know some basic commands because, yes, I’m a clever clogs.
Cons (if you can even call them that):
* I’ve got a wheat allergy, so pizza crusts are off-limits (tragic, I know).
* I don’t really vibe with other animals, but I can walk past them without causing a scene.
* I’m a bit clingy. I’ve been left before, and I don’t want it to happen again.
Oh, and I’m afraid of the dark. Don’t judge! The humans here sorted me out with a nightlight, and it’s honestly the best invention ever. What’s a rescue dog without a glowing beacon of safety, right?

About My Santa Paws Wish List 🎅🐾

🌨️🐾 Groot’s Winter Diaries: The Tale of the Fluffy Cold Stuff 🐾🌨️

Hello, hoomans! It’s me, Groot, the doggo formerly known as “What-On-Earth-Is-That-Loud-Thing.” I’m currently standing majestically on my sofa (yes, my sofa) staring out the window at the strange, fluffy, cold wetness falling from the sky. Mom says it’s called “snow,” but I’m convinced it’s sky dandruff. Whatever it is, it’s everywhere, and I don’t trust it.

I’m doing really well in my foster-to-forever home. I’ve been working hard to show my new Mom all my adorable quirks. She says I’m “not perfect,” but we both know that’s a lie because look at me. 😘

For example, last week, I gave Mom one of my signature loving looks—you know, the kind that melts hearts and gets extra treats. She was all, “Oh, Groot, you’re such a sweet boy!” And just as she was basking in the glow of my affection, I felt a rumble in my tummy. Next thing you know… waddle waddle. Yep. Right there on the floor. I thought it was a bonding moment. Mom thought otherwise. But hey, nobody’s perfect, right?

She’s learning to embrace my uniqueness. Like how I feel the need to vigorously alert her every time the postman even thinks about approaching the house. Or how I must investigate every cupboard door she opens. (You never know where she might be hiding the snacks.)

And let’s talk about my expert couch-sitting skills. I’ve mastered the “regal perch,” where I stare out the window, pretending I’m the king of the neighborhood. Today, as the sky dandruff fell, I barked at it to let it know who’s boss. (Spoiler: it’s me. Always me.) Mom says I look ridiculous, but I know she secretly admires my bravery.

Mom loves me for all my little quirks. And I love her for understanding that while I might not be the perfect dog, I’m the perfect dog for her. She gives me belly rubs, doesn’t get too mad when I “accidentally” chew a slipper, and even keeps my spot on the sofa warm when I’m out patrolling the garden for imaginary squirrels.

To all the hoomans out there: don’t expect perfection from your pups. Sometimes we’re goofy. Sometimes we’re messy. And sometimes we’re just trying to figure out why the sky is falling. But trust me, the love we give back makes it all worth it.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to give Mom another one of my heartfelt stares—just to keep her on her toes. Who knows what might happen next?

Wags and wiggles,
Groot, King of the Couch 🛋️✨

🎅🐾 A Message from the Dogs of Salt’s Helping Hounds: Santa Paws Needs YOU! 🐾🎅

Hello, hoomans! It’s us—the dogs of Salt’s Helping Hounds Rescue—typing this with our very clever paws (okay, maybe we had a little help). We’ve been talking, and here’s the deal: Christmas is coming, and we’re all wagging our tails about it. But we need your help to make sure Santa Paws has everything he needs to deliver the best Christmas ever to all of us good boys and girls.

See, Santa Paws is super busy this year. Between sorting treats, wrapping chew toys, and untangling fairy lights from his tail (classic Santa), he’s asked if you wonderful hoomans could lend him a helping paw.

Why We Need Your Pennies (Not Your Stuffies)
Here’s the thing: a lot of us have special needs. Some of us have delicate tummies that can’t handle just any old treat (we’re looking at you, rich festive snacks), and others have jaws that laugh in the face of flimsy toys. We’re talking “instant stuffing explosion” level destruction here.

To make sure we get the right goodies—like tummy-friendly treats and toys that can survive our enthusiasm—we’re asking for donations instead of actual items. Think of it like this: you’re outsourcing the shopping to our amazing humans, who know exactly what each of us needs.

How You Can Help (And Make Santa Paws Proud)
If you’d like to be part of our Christmas miracle, here’s how you can donate your pennies:

PayPal: [email protected]
Bank Details:

Salt’s Helping Hounds
HSBC
Sort Code: 40-41-59
Account No: 80003166
Reference: Santa Paws

Every penny goes toward making sure we all get our own special Christmas box—filled with the perfect mix of love, treats, and indestructible toys.

A Special Request from Us Dogs 🐾
Please share this post with your friends, family, and anyone who’s ever said, “Who’s a good boy?” (Spoiler: It’s us.) Let’s get everyone involved so Santa Paws doesn’t feel overwhelmed and forget to pack the Bonios.

Why You Should Help (Besides the Tail Wags)
Because we’ve been good all year, that’s why! Well, mostly good. Maybe a shoe got chewed here or there, but c’mon, no one’s perfect. Plus, there’s no better feeling than knowing you’ve helped make a rescue dog feel loved and special.

So, dig into those treat jars—uh, wallets—and send a little Christmas cheer our way. And if you donate, drop a comment below and tell us which of Santa Paws’ reindeer is your favorite. (We’re team Dasher, because… speed. 🐕💨)

Thank you, hoomans—you’re all pawsitively amazing! Now, we’re off to practice our “surprised and delighted” faces for Christmas morning. 🎁✨

Wags and slobbery kisses,
The Salt’s Helping Hounds Pack 🐾

27/11/2024

Hi there, I’m Derek—a 53kg masterpiece of fluff, nerves, and awkward charm. 🐾

If you’ve got a soft spot for underdogs (or just like the idea of a giant ball of fur with a talent for comedic timing), sit down, grab a biscuit for yourself—and maybe one for me too—and let me tell you my story. Spoiler: it’s got more twists than a Netflix thriller.

Once upon a time, I was standing outside a vet’s, shaking like a soggy leaf in the wind, my nerves in shambles. I’d been carted around in a van from Scotland and back again with no rest, no peace, and no clue what was going on. Then, I overheard those words. You know, the ones no dog wants to hear: put to sleep.

Now, I wasn’t aggressive, I wasn’t destructive—I was just scared. But apparently, scared dogs don’t make the cut. My heart was sinking faster than a treat dropped in a puddle. I thought, Well, this is it. Derek’s done for.

But then, out of nowhere, a lovely human swooped in, cape and all (okay, no cape, but the vibe was there). She said, “This dog deserves a chance!” And just like that, I was handed over to the absolute legends at Save Our Seized Dogs and Salt’s Helping Hounds Rescue.

From that moment, they made me a promise: no matter how long it took, I’d get all the time and care I needed to recover because I’m worth it. (Yes, like the L’Oréal ad, but with extra fur.)

Welcome to Rehab, Derek Style:
They brought me to Abbey Boarding Kennels, which is basically a spa retreat for traumatized pups like me. Think five-star service with gourmet kibble and emotional support on tap. The team there? Let’s just say they’ve got the patience of saints and the persistence of a dog with a bone.

Nighttime Musings of a Dashing Dog
For those of you who don’t already know, I am a dog of particular tastes and high standards.
Let’s talk about my most pressing need: my night light. Yes, you heard that correctly. I, Derek, am not a fan of the dark. It’s creepy, full of suspicious shadows, and frankly, not my vibe. That’s why I require a warm, soothing glow to guide me through the treacherous hours of the night. It’s not just a luxury—it’s a necessity.
Now, let me tell you what happens if my night light dares to betray me by going out. I let my staff know immediately. No passive-aggressive pawing or subtle whimpers for me, oh no. I unleash my voice. Picture the haunting howl of a lone wolf on a full moon night—only with more flair and higher stakes.
It’s not whining; it’s art. A performance. A full-blown Derek production. I won’t rest until my demands are met, and trust me, my staff knows better than to keep me waiting. They scramble to fix the issue, and rightly so—this is serious business!

Of course, some might think I’m being dramatic. To them, I say: Would YOU want to sleep in total darkness with who-knows-what lurking about? Exactly.
When my night light is restored, I settle back down, my dignity intact, my quarters properly illuminated, and my staff quietly marveling at my resilience. They love me for it, really. Who wouldn’t?
Life as a distinguished gentleman like myself isn’t easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. A little howling, a lot of love, and a perfectly timed spotlight—because every Derek deserves his stage.

I won’t lie—I came with some quirks. I’m a busybody, prone to running at full speed toward anything that moves. At 53kg, that’s less “cute doggy greeting” and more “freight train arriving at platform YOU.” But my rehab humans? They’ve taken it all in stride.
Oh, and then there’s my accessory game: the muzzle. Some dogs might find it embarrassing, but me? I rock it like a runway model. It keeps everyone safe and makes me look ruggedly handsome.

The Lumps, Bumps, and Belly Rubs:
Now, let’s address the elephant (or, in this case, the 53kg dog) in the room: I’ve got some lumps and bumps that are being investigated. My team’s on it like hounds on a scent trail, so no need to worry—I'm in the best hands. While I’m not quite ready for my forever home, my rehab crew is making sure my life is awesome in the meantime. Honestly, they love me so much I might never leave (just kidding… maybe).

A Little Drama, a Lot of Love:
Oh, did I mention someone once reported me as a banned breed? Me! Banned! As if this giant fluffball is anything other than a big softie. The humans sorted it all out (spoiler: I’m not banned—just misunderstood).
These days, my humans are helping me learn to trust again. It’s not a sprint; it’s a marathon. But here’s the thing—they’re with me for the long haul, and they never give up. I’ve got my quirks, my anxieties, and my ahem overly enthusiastic greetings, but they’ve shown me that I matter.

How You Can Help:
The truth is, all of this—my rehab, the vet care, the fancy kibble—takes resources. And that’s where you come in. If you’ve got a few coins rattling around, why not donate? Every little bit helps keep dogs like me safe, fed, and loved.
Donate via PayPal: [email protected]Bank Transfer (Salt’s Helping Hounds):HSBCSort Code: 40-41-59Account No: 80003166
Or if you’re decluttering, donate some items for our auctions. Trust me, it all makes a difference.
Thank you for giving me—and dogs like me—a shot at life. Because of you, my tail wags, my belly gets rubs, and my future looks brighter than a muzzle on a sunny day.

🌟 Hi, I’m Merlin! Let Me Tell You My Story… 🌟

Hello, friends! It’s me, Merlin. I thought I’d share a little about my journey because, well, it’s been quite the adventure. My path hasn’t been the easiest, but thanks to some amazing humans, I’m finally learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and understood.

I’ve come a long way! These days, I’m starting to realize that the world isn’t quite as scary as I thought—especially when people give me the time and space I need. Other dogs? I’m okay with them, as long as they respect my personal bubble (seriously, who likes someone all up in their face?). Humans? I think they’re wonderful too, especially when they’re patient and kind. Once I trust you, I’ll show you my fun, affectionate side.

A Few Things You Should Know About Me:
I’m a bright, clever boy, but I’ll admit—I’m still figuring out some things. Quick hand movements? Nope, they make me nervous. Crates? Absolutely not my thing. I won’t go down or into one, so let’s just agree to leave those out of the equation. And bigger men? Well, they can be a little intimidating for me. most of the men here its a no, but Cole? He’s my guy—he just gets me!

I’ll be honest: I’m a dog you need to win over with patience, not force. I’m wary and suspicious of new things and people at first, so it’s vital that you don’t rush me. No chasing me, no grabbing me, and no following me around. Let me come to you on my terms, and trust me—it’s worth the wait. Once I trust you, I’m loving, fun, and oh-so-loyal.

Why I’m a Little Magical:
I might need time to warm up, but I’ve got a big heart full of love waiting to share. With the right person, I’ll shine brighter than ever. My rehab team has worked tirelessly to help me feel safe, and they’ve let me grow at my own pace. They understand me completely, and thanks to them, I’ve already come so far. I might even say I’m their “good boy” (which I am, obviously).

Why I Need You:
I’m ready to find my forever family—but I’ll need someone who understands me. I need a home without kids (I can get snappy if startled) and someone who will go at my pace. Rushing me or forcing me into situations won’t work, but if you’re patient, kind, and understanding, I’ll show you my incredible potential.

I’m proof that rescue dogs aren’t broken—we’re just waiting for the right people to help us feel safe. I’m learning to trust again, and when I do, you’ll have a loyal, loving companion who’s truly magical.

Want to Meet Me?
If you think you could be my forever family, click here to apply: https://muttmanager.uk/FormSubmissions/Submit/35-6-Application_Form

I’d love to meet you and start this next chapter of my life with you.

A Snowy Stroll and a Snoozy Snooze: Chloe’s Rescue Dog Life 💜

Hello, darlings! It’s me, Chloe, a Salt’s Helping Hounds Rescue diva, reporting live from my foster-to-adopt palace. Life is paws-itively fabulous these days, though I’ll admit, it wasn’t always this glam but thanks to some time in a fab rehab kennels I very quickly found myself starting a new life. Today, I thought I’d share a little about my new life, my fabulous fashion sense, and my human, who’s working harder than Santa's elves in December to help me be the best dog I can be.

A Winter Wonderland AdventureLet’s start with the snow. Picture this: me, strutting my stuff in my warm, snug coat, looking like the canine equivalent of a Vogue cover model. My dad and I went for a snowy stroll this morning, and let me tell you, I turned heads. But it wasn’t just about looking fabulous—staying cozy while exploring is a must when you’ve got paws that aren’t exactly built for frosty terrain.
Dad says these walks are all part of our "behavioral training," but I just call it my daily sniffari. He’s incredibly patient, always teaching me how to walk nicely and reminding me not to pull (okay, try not to pull) when I see something exciting, like a squirrel. He says I’m a work in progress. I say I’m a masterpiece in the making. Tomato, to-mah-to, right?

Snooze Goals: AchievedAfter our frosty adventure, I did what any self-respecting rescue dog does: I commandeered my bed for a luxurious nap. Exhibit B (the second photo) shows me mid-snooze, dreaming of treats, belly rubs. Life’s tough, but someone has to live it.

Imperfectly Perfect—That’s Me!Now, let’s talk about being "imperfectly perfect." Rescue dogs like me come with a bit of extra baggage, but hey, doesn’t everyone? My dad knows I’m not perfect—sometimes I may bark too much but he’s fully committed to helping me grow. I know how much he loves me because he shows it every single day with his patience, cuddles, and willingness to share the couch (his mistake—I’ve claimed it).

The Chloe-Dad BondHere’s the truth: my dad and I have something special. He calls me his “best girl” and I greet him with tail wags that could generate electricity. Whether we’re braving the snow, practicing good manners, or just lounging together, the love we share is undeniable. He says I’m his "soul dog," and honestly, I feel the same way about him.
So, to all you humans out there thinking about adopting a rescue dog, let me leave you with this: we’re not perfect, but we’re worth it. With patience, love, and maybe a fashionable coat or two, we can become the best companions you’ll ever have.

Until next time, keep warm, stay fabulous, and don’t forget to give your dogs an extra belly rub for me.
Love,Chloe 🐾

🌟 Hi, I’m Sage! Let Me Tell You My Story… 🌟

Hey there, I’m Sage—named after the herb, but let’s be honest, I’m way cooler. What’s your name? Can we be friends? I LOVE making friends, especially the kind that come with snacks and belly rubs. 🐾

I’ve had quite the adventure so far—some parts a bit bumpy, but thanks to some amazing humans, I’ve grown into a confident, happy boy with a waggy tail and a heart full of hope. Now, I’m on the hunt for my forever family. Could that be you?

Why I Need You:
I’ve been learning a lot lately, and now I’m ready for the next big step—finding my forever home. I’m a big boy with a big heart and even bigger potential, but I need a family who understands that I thrive on structure, consistency, and plenty of love.

With me, you’ll get loyalty, laughs, and some goofy antics thrown in for good measure. Oh, and here’s the best part: Salts Helping Hounds Rescue will be there to support you every step of the way. They’ve been my superheroes so far, and they’ll keep cheering us on as we start this new adventure together.

A Bit About My Journey:
Once upon a time, I was a misunderstood pup bouncing from home to home. People thought I was “too much,” but I just needed someone to teach me the ropes. Luckily, the incredible team at Salts Helping Hounds Rescue stepped in when I needed them most.

And let me tell you about my rehab kennel crew—they’re my absolute heroes. They’ve worked so hard to help me learn to trust, channel my energy, and show off my good-boy skills. Thanks to them, I’ve transformed into a playful, confident dog who’s ready to take on the world (or at least your sofa).

What I Bring to the Table:

Super Smart: I love structure, routine, and learning new things. Give me clear instructions, and I’ll follow them like a pro.

Eager to Please: I want to be the best boy—I just need a calm, patient leader to show me the way.

Active and Fun: I’d love an active home with dog-savvy humans who enjoy structured play, training, and adventure.

People-Friendly: I’m great with humans and love making friends, but I need a pet-free home so I can be the star of the show.

Loyal Beyond Measure: Once I trust you, I’ll be your most devoted buddy.

A Few Things to Know About Me:

Okay, full disclosure—I’ve still got a few quirks. I’m a big dog with big energy, and while I’m working hard on my impulse control, I sometimes get a bit carried away. Like, remember that time I decided to “borrow” a cat bed (don’t worry, there was no cat in it)? Or when I grabbed Jessica’s coat after an hour of running wild in a freedom field? That’s me—full of personality, but I need someone to help me channel it.

Here’s the thing: I need structured play and training, monitored free time, and help to wind down afterward. Too much free time and no guidance? I go full "bolo mode," and you might see smoke coming out of my ears. But give me calm, consistent instructions with positive reinforcement, and I’ll stick to the rules like glue.

A Special Shoutout to My Fan Club!
I’ve got my very own fan club called Sage’s Salty Saviours—a group of amazing people who make monthly donations to help with my rehab costs. Thanks to their kindness and generosity, I’ve been able to keep working toward becoming the best version of me. If you want to join this special crew, you’d be helping me and dogs like me get the care we need while we wait for our forever homes!

Why Forever Matters:
After everything I’ve been through, I dream of a forever family who believes in me and gives me the structure I need to thrive. Thanks to my rehab team, I’ve learned how to channel my energy and embrace the joy of companionship. Now all I need is someone to show me what “forever” feels like.

The Best Part?
Salts Helping Hounds Rescue will provide ongoing support! Whether you need advice, guidance, or just a pep talk, they’ll always have your back. And my rehab team? They’ll keep cheering us on from afar.

At Salt’s Helping Hounds, in partnership with Save Our Seized Dogs, we’re driven by a mission that goes far beyond just “saving” dogs – we’re here to give them a true second chance at life. For many of our rescues, the road to recovery is long, often marked by a past filled with hardship, trauma, and fear. And "safe" is only the start.

Healing takes time, but it also takes the right people. That’s why we place these dogs with rehabilitation kennels where the team is not only highly skilled but also deeply, passionately dedicated to each and every dog in their care. These kennels understand that these dogs aren’t “cases” – they’re individuals who deserve love, patience, and an unwavering commitment to their recovery. Every step of their journey is treated with the care and respect these dogs so desperately need.

We know that everyone’s feeling the pinch right now. But every single donation is a direct line to food, medical care, safe kennels, and emotional healing for these dogs. We focus on the dogs that others might shy away from – those with “difficult” histories and complex needs – because to us, they are worth every moment and every penny.

By donating, you’re not just helping us keep a dog safe; you’re giving them a chance to heal and ultimately to find a loving forever home. Your support goes directly to kennels that understand the importance of patience and kindness. Together, we can turn "safe" into "forever."

Please consider donating to our GoFundMe. Every little bit truly makes a difference.

Boris Here: Dispatch from My Foster Kingdom (a.k.a. The Sofa)

Hello, everyone! It’s your pal Boris, coming at you live from my foster home, where I have claimed the couch as my royal throne. I recently turned the big 4, which means I’m officially an expert in couch lounging and the fine art of not moving unless absolutely necessary. The humans here try to entice me with walks, but let’s be honest—why walk when I can snooze? They call it “daily exercise”; I call it “disrupting my beauty rest.”

Now, let’s address the snack situation. My foster humans say I have to “watch my weight.” Listen, I’m watching it just fine—right after every snack! They seem to think my portion sizes need limits, but I’m always open to negotiations on that front. Just don’t tell them I said that.

On the health front, I’m prone to a few skin and ear annoyances—typical for my breed, apparently. The foster team has me on a top-notch routine with cleaning, a solid diet, and some meds to keep everything in check. I grumble a bit about it, but the truth is, they’re doing a great job of keeping me feeling like my usual handsome, slightly grumpy self.

And yes, I’ve got a face only a mother could love—don’t be jealous! Plus, I’ve perfected the side-eye that says, “I may be in a foster home, but I’m still the boss here.” Cuddles? Oh, I’m a total softy when I feel like it… under my strict cuddle terms, of course.

So, there you have it, my loyal fans. I may be in a foster home, but I’ve made it my own little kingdom. Now, back to my regularly scheduled napping.

Yours in sofa domination,
Boris
