Salt's Helping Hounds Rescue is a small, foster based rescue run by a fabulous team of dedicated volunteers. We are UK based and are lucky enough to have Admin and Volunteers throughout the country. This enables us to find the best homes for our dogs, irrespective of location. Our dedicated team fundraise vigorously and are constantly recruiting foster carers so that we can continue to save the un

derdog. We save the dogs that other's won’t. Before rehoming, our dogs are fully assessed, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All adoptions are under Contract and are subject to successful homecheck and adoption donation being paid. Our minimum adoption donation is £295. All our dogs are given full Rescue Backup for the entirety of their lives. Our foster carers are vital to the running of the rescue and receive the full support of the rescue when caring for our dogs. This is an urgent appeal for our dear sweet Groot.

As many of you will remember, Groot was seized by the police when he was only 7 months old for allegedly jumping up and bruising a member of the public. He spent his most important socialisation period in police custody, missing out on the life a puppy should experience. After 8 long months, the police released him to us for rehoming. Groot is now 32 months old and apart from a brief period, he has spent 25 months of his little life in kennels - that's more than three quarters of his life 😞😿

We were absolutely delighted when Groot went to a foster to adopt home, and we had such joy at the thought of him getting the life he deserved. However sometimes, no matter how stringent we are with the application and homecheck process, things just don't work out.

Sadly, Groot is now back in kennels with us - a life that he accepts and is used to, but he deserves his forever family. He is the most beautiful, big goofball who loves a cuddle - but he needs some help in learning how to cope with life out of a kennel environment. As you can imagine, he does struggle as kennel life is all he really knows.

This is where you all come in. We would like to have a full behaviourial assessment and remedial work done with Groot but as we all know, it's not cheap. We have an experienced, specialist behaviourist on standby to work with Groot, but we have been quoted £749 for this. Funds are at an all time low and so we would appreciate any donations towards getting Groot ready for his new start in life.

We have our own Behavioural Advisor who is on hand at any time to offer advice or attend any of our foster carers or adopters who need additional support .
