Who's still rubbish at keeping social media updated 🤔🙋♀️
Golden retriever owners...hands up 🙋♀️
Does this sound familiar?
-super enthusiastic about everything
-bubbly, energetic...pulls on the lead
-likes to explore, loves sniffing...pulls at everything?
-super social...no manners?
I have LOTS of experience working with Goldies and I can almost guarantee that you all start in the same boat 🤭
If I could give you all any free advice it would be that clarity is key! They want to get on with their walk, not battle you for it. So training is about finding how they can do this by behaving calmer to achieve it. This is where I come in !
Here's a short snippet of this handsome boys second session of ⭐ The Training Package ⭐ to help with his lead walking skills and we will also be looking at his behaviour towards other dogs getting up in his business in later sessions. I wish I'd have recorded this super puller in our first session so you could see the change but this is outstanding!
I've been booked up with training and behavioural sessions and I couldn't be prouder of the progress everyone is making 😊

Remember me ? 🫣😂
There's been such a lot happening just lately I've been terrible at keeping my social media updated so for the next few days I'll be sharing some stuff with you!
One of my favourites is pushchair training with my super handsome pal as part of his training walks. What a laugh that was when people noticed there was no baby in there 😂
Whistle recall!
Just testing the sharpness of his whistle recall or 'emergency recall' as I call it with some clients. He was working away on a tug pull down the bottom of the field which is his favourite so he was nicely called off that!
I love using a whistle for recall particularly with more independent dogs!
This is something I'm teaching a lot of just recently and it's a really simple process but like all dog training, something that needs commitment and consistency from everyone in the household.

What a busy week!
This handsome lad has joined us for
⭐ The Assessment Session ⭐ to have a look into some behavioural incidents, his behaviour towards other dogs and walking on the lead.
He's such a character and I was blown away by how quickly he took to the training during the session!

Oh Oz...
⭐Training walk⭐ with this handsome lad who's also stolen my heart!
Amazing work from him today including ignoring passers-by, dogs, babies and children and mobility scooters.
He's still a young lad with so much energy and happy-go-lucky personality so we are just working on contexts !

⭐Behaviour Walk⭐ with Finn 😊
We had a great time together today! I've captioned the video so you can see what's going on but to recap:
-First we warm up with some training and basic all over warm ups
-Patience and practicing 'wait' before being released
-"place" training (ideal for photos and dogs that struggle around distractions and triggers)
-Confidence and resilience training!
Finn's original triggers when we first started working together over 12 months ago were:
-People approaching
-Dogs
-Environmental noises and sounds
-Large movements
This boy had all the freedom he could want but of course, true to his nature, stayed close at all times 😂

More loose lead walking!
Spanners are notoriously challenging when lead walking (they weren't bred to walk nicely at your side!) so me and this handsome lad spent the training walk building his engagement, hand focus, tactile cues and pace perception.
He was amazing!

Engage!
First training walk with my good mate Oz this morning to help his engagement and lead walking.
What are you seeing?
-I wait for him to give eye contact, I reward
-I wait for him to seek out my face when I turn away, I reward
Fast forward some extra bits, build up some nice duration et voilà! Lovely little loose lead!
Of course this hasn't fixed the issue but it's how we are going to fix it!
I was already in a good mood this morning despite being exhausted but this lad boosted me even more!
Lead pulling? This little one knows all about that! His team have worked hard on getting the skills practiced to help his lead pulling and today we were working on using a visual target as a signal for heelwork (no, not bribing with food)
The idea is:
-teach that following the hand pays out
-focusing on the hand and ignoring distractions pays out
-work, ignore, walk to heel THEN and only then will the hand pay out (but the hand at this stage is empty!)
He's a clever lad and picks things up in no time at all and thankfully after a dietary change to better quality foods, he's much more settled all round too.

I'm baaaaack!
A little late but I am! I've spent the past few days catching up on enquiries but still getting round to some so thank you for your patience!
Here's an awesome update from this gorgeous lad and his mum.
His mum won't mind me telling you that his severe lead biting, redirecting and typical 'Malinois-ness' was a huge challenge just a few months ago and if we'd have said we would be here today with a short lead AND a long lead with no biting...well.
Yet here they are. Absolutely SMASHING the training together.
Down stays, sit stays, patience, recall, retrieve, heelwork (not videoed). Incredible.
Absolute credit where it's due to Gemma for her patience, dedication, tears and putting up with me swearing at her and giving tough love 🤣🖤

Dog reactivity? Engage!
Yesterday was a warm one but this little lady didn't let it slow her down!
Her team have been working hard on her focus and engagement foundations so for session #2 we pushed forward and asked for a little more from her.
She did beautifully with a dog and some other of her triggers which was amazing to see!
As with all 'real world' hurdles owning a dog that can react, we came up against a super barky and defensive dog but this is an opportunity! She recovered quickly and re-engaged so well after the reaction which is super promising!
Does any of this sound familiar?
-Barking & lunging at dogs
-Can pull and go into a world of their own on a walk
-Seems distracted and vigilant on walks

Loose lead and big dogs...it's a must!
So we welcomed this beautiful lad to the DOG team recently for help with his lead walking skills and excitement when out and about.
Being a BIG DOG, pulling on the lead is not only exhausting for the person at the end of it, but also can cause long term issues with their joints and muscle development. Being more prone to health issues in these areas anyway, we got to work and he absolutely loved it!
Fun, engaging and a brilliant relationship booster for his family too 😊
Can't wait to see him for session 2 soon!
