Do you check the sweat marks on the underside of your saddle pad?
Sweat marks give you valuable information about rider symmetry, how your weight and where your weight is in the saddle and how this is affecting the horses way of going and not forgetting saddle fit of course.
This is mine, my saddle is checked regularly with Jo Beavis at The National Saddle Centre so I know the saddle is good however if you look closely you can see there is slightly more marking on the right hand side so therefore I’m putting more weight through my right stirrup and seat bone.
I’m right side dominated so looking at this saddle pad it tells me I need to focus a bit more on my left, so next week I will use some Pilates exercises to do exactly this and will again check the saddle pad in a couple of weeks.
White is always easier to check.
Why not check yours and please commmet below. Let us know what you find.

Dates to come soon for our rider alignment and confidence clinics. With the start of season Joanne Hayward and myself have been more than busy 🤯🤯 but we promise to get some dates in really soon. I’m off to the lovely Lincomb Equestrian on the 23rd for a day working with aligment and Equipilates.

Firstly let me apologise for Jo and myself, we have kind of got lost in action 🙈Between a horridly muddy winter, multiple horses, client coaching and the event season starting or not starting, as the weather seems to have taken over, we have been snowed under with work clients and general horse duty which I’m sure you’ll all understand.
Yesterday we had a lovely day clinic at the amazing Lincomb Equestrian Centre in Worcestershire were we had the pleasure of meeting a huge amount of new riders and their horses.
We were mainly working with confidence, but also Symmetry and the importance of Rider Aligment and used both mounted and dismounted exercise using the Franklin Balls as well as Equipilates to work on the riders biomechanics to make small changes to their in saddle Aligment which made huge differences to the horse.
There isn’t one clinic goes by where the results are jaw dropping and sometimes quite emotional. Months of stuckness ( if that’s even a word?) gone in just an hour. Lots of licking and chewing and release from the horses too which I have to say is a delight to see. Homework was set and challenges given.
Lincomb Equestrian ran by Becky and her husband is the most beautiful location sporting several arenas, an expansive XC course and gallop tracks. I’m definitely going to stay for a weekend with Baby Flora pony who I think would love this venue.
Our promise to you is Jo and Myself are going to sort some dates for some local clinics working with confidence, Alignment and lower leg stability.
Keep an eye on our page for further dates and so sorry we’ve been missing in action. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💙💙,

As riders and horse lovers we spend so much of our time and money on training for our horse to improve his balance, strength and fitness. We have physios, farriers, vets and coaches but what exactly are we doing for ourselves and do we really matter?
Riding, whether it be dressage, eventing, polo or hobby, riding is a team sport and in order for the horse to be able to move freely beneath you we also need to improve our own core strength, balance and flexibility.
Without this we cannot expect our horses to reach their full potential. In a team sport all parties need to pull together for success and Libratem Equitem’s focus is the rider and it’s aim is to help change the riders biomechanics for the better. Using a blend of EquiPilates, Pilates and Franklin Ball Equestrian both mounted and dismounted exercises for both horse and rider alike you can put yourself in the best position for success.
Designed by riders for riders this new page is full of videos to help you improve core strength, Flexibly and Mobility, improving your dynamic stability in the saddle. Easy to follow instructional videos in the comfort of your own home. New content added monthly with the added bonus of pole work exercises and bodywork stretches for your horse from Hannah Wolversion Physio all for just £4 per month. Launching soon drop us a comment on here or pm if your interested in for info 🥰🥰

Here is your opportunity to start the New Year off how you want to continue!
No faddy ideas, 'New Year, new you' stuff round here, just practical exercises and skills that will help you improve your balance, security and confidence.
We all know that we shouldn't worry about the things we can't control, we should focus on what we can influence and trust in your process, we shouldn't worry about others judging us as we are riding because they are probably too focused on not hitting the deck that they haven't even seen you, but that doesn't stop the anxiety rising as we go to get on and ride off!
Although your mindset can help control this Jo & Clare believe that there is more to it than that!
To feel confident you need to feel secure, to feel secure you need to have good balance, to have good balance you need to have good dynamic stability. All these things add up to you feeling more confident in the saddle, giving you the ability to become a more effective rider, rather than only being able to focus on clinging on.
During this clinic Clare and Jo will use the Franklin Ball Method, EquiPilates and their Coaching skills to help build your tool box up to improve your dynamic stability, effectiveness, security and confidence sending you away with a plan to help you improve your skills.

The correct position is correct for a reason. It allows the rider to balance so that they, in turn, can improve the balance of the horse.

An unbalanced rider creates tension. This then affects the communication because a tense horse cannot feel and respond to its rider, and a tense rider cannot feel and respond to their horse. This means that the aids can be misinterpreted or missed altogether.

In contrast, a balanced rider creates enhanced communication. It allows the rider to use lighter and more accurate seat, leg, and rein aids, thereby promoting harmony and relaxation.

For more information on how (and why) to maintain the correct position, check out this article - https://howtodressage.com/for-the-rider/correct-position-dressage/

A fab afternoon at Naylors at GO Outdoors Coventry with Stoneleigh Riding Club members having a go on the mechanical horse.

Getting the chance to ride Blueberry was really helpful and highlighted tension, crookedness and weaknesses, but even better, Clare was able to send everyone away with something to work on to help improve that!

Jo & Clare even got to have a go, giving themselves some extra homework to improve their own riding! #𝑇ℎ𝑒𝐹𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑘𝑙𝑖𝑛𝐵𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑀𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑑 #𝑅𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑟𝐴𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡
