So as my regulars know, I’ve had quite a few random days off over the summer - and this is why!

We’ve (Johnny Ward) have been showing our pedigree Limousin cattle all over the country - Yorkshire, Wales, Cornwall, Surrey…

But this week we’ve got a couple of shows closer to home - Gillingham and Shaftesbury this Wednesday and Mid Somerset Show on Sunday, plus a couple more, including Frome on 14th Sept. So if any of you lovely people are visiting these local shows, make sure you come and see them in the cattle section!

We’re Hartmoor Pedigree Limousin & Commercial , look for our banner 😍

We’ll have our big bull, Tiger, plus his girlfriend Sahara, and the two besties Umbria and Take On Me, plus little 6 month old Valentine.

With the Paris Olympics in full swing, I thought I’d have some fun and see what “sports” my clients would be gold medalists in 😂

Gunner would 💯 take gold in the Olympic eating contest, and probably the heaviest/longest stick carrying endurance race.

Waffles gold in the face licking competition! 👅

I recon Marshall would win the treat chasing scurry, Mack the ball finding race, Cooper the loudest bark competition, followed closely by Monty, and Zoe the fastest Dreamies devourer.

Go check out Wiggle and Wag at our family’s icecream parlour Palette & Pasture, Frome (what could be better - dog stuff AND icecream!?). Lots of yummy natural treats, cool hardwearing practical dog wear, and very bougie George Barclay beds.

P.s. - the parlour does doggy icecream too!! Gunner and Waffs give it an 11/10 of course 😉

As promised (I said I’d get a good few in the diary!), the next adventure walk after the beach trip will be on Thursday 8th August, collecting from 12:30. We’ll be heading to Stockhill Woods near Priddy (this was a super fun one when I did it last year!).

As before - £25 per dog (£20 for additional dogs from the same household), c.2 hours walking + collection and drop off, so will be away from home for at least 3 hours.

I only have✨2✨spaces left on this one already before I’ve even advertised, so if you’d like your pup to join us, message me quick!

Exciting news - Adventure Walks are back!

I’m going to try and fit a good few in over the summer (as long as it’s not too hot), so watch this space! They’ll usually be on a Thursday but I may sneak in some cheeky weekend days, too.

Our first walk will be to Brean/Berrow Beach on Thursday 18th July, picking up from 12:30 (lunch time).

Walks are c.2 hours long, with pick up and drop off included (as with your usual walks).

For Berrow as it takes a little while to get down there, your pups will be out of the house for around 4 hours.

Exciting news - Adventure Walks are back!

I’m going to try and fit a good few in over the summer (as long as it’s not too hot), so watch this space! They’ll usually be on a Thursday but I may sneak in some cheeky weekend days, too.

Hot weather can be pretty rubbish for dogs - here’s a couple of ideas for keeping your pups entertained and tired without going out for a long walk. Gunner and Waffles have been busy this afternoon! ⭐️ GAME: Where Is It? (AKA Gunner’s favourite game in the whole world). Video below. Easy-peasy to set up and great to work their brains. Can be played anywhere, inside or out! You can use their usual kibble, treats, veggies - or even toys if your dog isn’t food focused. (I used some ham). Shut your dogs out of the are you want to play in and hide your treats around the space - make some easy and some more difficult to find. I hid the ham amongst plant pots, on the wall, at different levels and in different amounts. Or you can even just scatter it around the garden. When done, release the hounds and listen to those super snozzys go! You may have to guide them to the areas they need to search to start with, but they’ll pick up the game very quickly. “Sniffing is hugely beneficial for dogs and essential for their wellbeing. It's stimulating too - experts tell us just 20 minutes of sniffing is equivalent to an hour's walk in terms of enrichment for your dog” - Tug-E-Nuff ⭐️ ENRICHMENT: Lickimats/Kongs/stuffable and spreadable toys. Pictures in the comments. I think Innovative Pet Products Lickimats are the best things EVER. I was first introduced to them at Gunner’s puppy classes 5 years ago (used as a distraction and to keep him calm in the class) and haven’t looked back since! There are endless toppings you can use on them from peanut butter, yoghurt, fruit, wet food… the list goes on. They’re especially great in hot weather as one topped, you can pop them in the freezer and feed them like a doggy lolly when set! This afternoon as I was short on the above ingredients, so I literally blended up some of their dry kibble into a crumb in my smoothie maker (don’t worry, it’s going in the dishwasher 😂🤦🏼‍♀️), then added

A fun filled 2 hour Adventure Walk at Stockhill Woods this morning 😍

Willow had a lovely winter walk this morning with my two in the snow, but as she’s super fluffy the snow does tend to ball up on her legs and tummy. Excuse the absolutely rubbish video (one handed and a wriggly dog 🤦🏼‍♀️), but I thought I’d share my hack for when snow gets balled up on long haired dogs - I use a small whisk! It breaks the snowballs up without pulling on their skin or hair. It’s great for when you’re on the go, followed by a warm bath when you’re back, your pupper will be snow free and comfortable 🥰🐾

The most important part of every walk… biscuit time! 😋

I don’t understand how people are scared of ratties, I think they are adorable! Especially these little guys, I could watch them for hours 😍🐀 Love caring for these two and their cage mates, plus two cats and two chickens whilst their owners have gone on holiday.

Easy brain games to tire your dogs - scatter a handful of kibble into long grass and listen to the super sniffers go! This is not only a fun exercise, it’s also proven to calm and relax dogs, aiding to tire them out mentally, as well as physically 👃🐾
