With much sadness, yesterday we marked the passing of Jasper, Bassetlaw Hospital's official feline greeter.

To remember our favourite ginger tom, we are raising funds to purchase a bench and plaque dedicated to his memory.

This will be placed nearby to Jasper's favourite spot, just outside of Maternity at Bassetlaw Hospital.

Every donation is welcome, so please give what you can. Any surplus funds will be directly donated to DBTH Charity to support patient care and treatment.

Jasper the cat: Tributes to three-legged feline hospital greeter

Jasper "worked" as a senior liaison officer and was well known for greeting staff and patients.

It is with a very heavy heart and buckets of tears that I have to share we have had to make the devastating decision to have our fur baby Jasper put to sleep this afternoon due to a very short illness which unfortunately couldn’t be treated.

15 years to the day since he bounded into the house and straight up the curtains. He was purring to the very end with Megan tickling his ears and rubbing his belly.

So very proud of both kids and the way they have handled today but particularly Megan who is absolutely devastated but still wanted to be with him to the end 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Find yourself a comfy chair over the rainbow bridge my little ginger ninja - someone will pass by to tickle your ears I’m sure 😢😢😢

Just to keep you all up to speed, I’ve had a few messages asking me if Jasper is ok after his ordeal earlier this week as he hasn’t been around much at the hospital.
He is fine, I think it scared him quite a bit as he’s not venturing very far from home. He’s enjoying lots of cuddles and taking liberty’s sleeping on my bed 😂 I’m sure then he’s got his confidence back he will be back over to resume his position x

He’s home safe and well folks! He had been locked in a side room at the hospital. He’s eaten me out of house and home and had some morning snuggles with his hooman sister this morning. No doubt he’ll be back on his chair in a little while 🙈

Update! Jasper has been found! He was locked in at the hospital 🙈.

If anyone is up at the hospital this evening and sees Jasper can you please kick him out! He didn’t come home last night x

Hi all, I have had quite a few concerned messages from people who are worried Jasper is losing weight and is quite lethargic.

I have collected him from the hospital this morning and locked the cat flap for a few hours to keep an eye on him. He is fine and was desperate to get out (see pic) and pee’d all over the house in protest 🙈.

He is thinner than he was but that is possibly because he is getting on a bit (he will be 15 next month!)
He is also only coming home once a day for food as he is far too comfortable in the maternity entrance.

If any of Jaspers followers work at the hospital I would really appreciate it if you could encourage him out of there in an evening so he gets back into the habit of coming home regularly so I can build him back up again.

Just a little reminder folks, with temperatures getting warmer Jasper is venturing out again so may be in his favourite spot outside maternity again. Please don’t feed him and if you see others feeding him ask them to stop.

I know a few of you up at the hospital have been asking about the Ginger Ninja, he’s absolutely fine and as you can see from the pics hounding me on work at home days! He’ll be back out for snuggles when it warms up a bit, he’s getting to be a grumpy old goat frightened of a bit of rain 😂😂

Just thought I’d drop in to let you all know that Jasper is fine, just in case you haven’t seen him much lately.
Once the weather gets cooler and damp he spends a lot less time at the hospital as the change in weather plays havoc with his arthritis and his stump! (He’s not as young as he looks)

Hi all, I’ve had a few messages about the sore on Jaspers shoulder. I am keeping my eye on it and have been bathing it with salt water. It doesn’t seem to hurting him so I think he’s been fighting. Thankyou all for your concern xx
