Did you see us at Ryde Academy today?!

Four of our lovely colleagues (left to right): Holly (Student Veterinary Nurse) Millie (Patient Care Assistant) Maisie (Registered Veterinary Nurse and Practice Manager) and Erin (Receptionist) attended the careers fair at Ryde Academy to showcase our roles and responsibilities at Medina Veterinary Group and Pet Doctors. They met so many lovely enthusiastic young people who showed a real interest and we are sure will do amazingly in their futures… and who knows, may have a budding career in the veterinary sector!

Students were able to practice bandaging, administration of fluids and gloving/gowning - and did a great job! 👏🏻

🐾 CAN ANYONE HELP? 🐾

This little female Yorkshire Terrier has been bought into our Wootton practice today - she has a microchip but one number on the chip is no longer in service. We have another number but it seems to be the incorrect one and cannot through to the owner. Her address is registered in Totland however she was found in St. Edmunds walk in Wootton.

She’s super sweet but in a need of a little TLC so must be missing from her owners!

If you know this dog or know who she belongs to, please contact us on 01983 883955.

🩺 Vet Nurse awareness month 🩺

Meet Marie our Advanced nurse manager at Wootton!

“I grew up surrounded by lots of animals and always knew I wanted to work with animals as a career.

I did my work experience from school in a veterinary practice and really enjoyed it reinforced my desire of a career with animals. In 1994 I was lucky enough to be offered a student veterinary nurse position at a busy mixed practice on the outskirts of Manchester.

I started as a student veterinary nurse in 1994, this was a mixed practice and a hospital so gained valuable experience in all different types of animals and their care. I did the diploma route as this was the only way to qualify back then whilst attending Myerscough College in Preston.

I have worked at three other small animal practices with multiple branches before moving to the Isle of Wight in 2012 and taking the position as Head veterinary nurse at Medina.

I worked for a few years at MVG then left to pursue a completely different career. After realising how much I missed being a veterinary nurse and this is where my passion was I returned in 2020 to MVG as an RVN.

In August 2022 I was promoted to my current position.”

🐾 National receptionist day🐾

Where do we begin?

Firstly I'd like to say a huge thank you to all our receptionists across all our branches including our Pet Doctors Isle Of Wight branches for their continued hard work and dedication to the roles they play in each practice everyday. We are honoured to have such a hard working and dedicated team of receptionists and we appreciate every single one of you.

Our receptionists work hard to make sure our clients are seen to and dealt with in a professional, kind and compassionate way.

They will always be the support you need in whatever way you may need it on the day of your appointment, as not all appointments are routine when visiting us, we all love animals and understand appointments aren't always easy to attend.

They are there to help organise the diary for our vets and nurses, to place pharmacy requests, book in appointments, see to emails, answer calls and be someone you can speak to in practice if needing help or support in any way.

We are proud to work alongside this incredible team of 22 wonderful humans that work incredibly hard everyday, they are a vital part of the veterinary industry and we thank them for the continued efforts to make everyday that little bit easier.

If you have any positive stories you'd like to share of when one of our receptionists made your visit by just being kind, caring or going that extra mile share below, I'm sure they would love to hear how they made your visit that bit better 🐾
