There is some really exciting stuff being done by Scott Trageser and his team that is really close to my heart.

It has always been a dilemma when describing new species, having to euthanize and preserve specimens for science. This new technology will give future researchers another choice.

The project Is only in the first stages and is in need of funding, this will help it move onto stage 2 where it will become available for everybody to use.

No pressure if you don't want to donate but would really appreciate it if you could help by giving this a share to help move the project forward.

Conservationist and photographer Scott Trageser is using Sony RX0 II cameras and photogrammetry to create detailed 3D scans of wildlife.

One of freshly hatched Black tree monitors Varanus beccarii, this species has been close to being lost within the hobby especially in the UK, once considered the cheap "ugly" tree monitor most keepers decided to put there efforts into breeding the brightly coloured Varanus prasinus. Although not as brightly coloured as some of the other tree monitors, beccarii are stunning in there own right and can only truly be appreciated in person.

Our varanus reisingeri looking happy together, glad to see our female has accepted the male back with her after laying a clutch, female tree monitors can get very aggressive nest guarding after laying, we always take the male out long before the female lays to stop any complications.
