This dog is great off lead in a heel, but pulls on the lead. Quickly changed that and we have a dog super focused and making loose lead walking look easy.

All ready for an afternoon/evening of gundog training. In former roles I used to work late shifts and enjoyed them. Like the late start still.

On a weekly basis, I get owners coming to me for breed-specific training. This owner has a sprocker who pays her no attention and is focused on anything else.

I get excited when owners tells me their dog has a high prey drive and wants to chase things 😁.

I use prey to focus the dog and secure an outstanding recall in a distracting environment. I then use prey drive to reward the dog when it pays me with training.

Once this lady gets the technique together, she will have one very super-focused dog

Despite the cold, we had a great level 2 pet gundog session. Everyone has come on. The owner and dog are now working as a team.

I was doing some distance and steady work with Henry. He had to sit whilst I walked to the end of the field. I threw a dummy out so he could see it in the air. Then I walked back. Steadiness is spot on.
Then sent him out.

We had an excellent day training at the Dorset gundog training facility. The dogs and owners all worked hard. The training team said it was a great day as every one brought their A game. A sunny day definitely makes a difference 😊

This is a polite notice. just come to field today to find two people from the 13:00 class on Sunday left their poo bags. I am sure this was not intentional , however I will be checking each class ftom now on. Not something I should have to do.

Second session to the field and we are cracking loose lead walking with this young Viszla. Secret is right technique and a lot of practice by the owner. Great training session

Great session on Sunday in difficult conditions at the Pet Gundog Training Facility. The dogs loved it.😁 Well done to everyone who turned out.
Sally and Inky passed their level 1 as an unplanned assessment. Nice one👍
The level 2s were put through their paces, and it's great to see the changes.

If you are training tomorrow, please wear clothing for mud, rain and wind. I got my landrover stuck today. Had to be towed out by a severe off-roading landrover, and he struggled initially.

Going to start place board training with puppy pet gundogs and older gundog breeds. Henry has never done this before, so I need to condition the word place to mean sit on the board. He quickly got the idea. 😁

Lovely whistle recall whilst on the way out for a thrown retrieve. This type of recall shows the dog will respond to the whistle even if it would prefer to carry on with the retrieve.

Brilliant day at the Pet gun dog training, if a tad cold 🥶. A key part of my training is the basics. If your dog cannot do the basics we will struggle with the fancy stuff. This dog has come on a long way. You can see activity happening in the background, but she remains steady and her owner can complete the task. I have a soft spot for this dog 😊
