We’re well into autumn, with winter banging down the door 🥶

Sun, rain, wind and snow ~ we’ve had it all over the last 7 days … and the dogs have loved every minute! 🤪

Does your pet’s fur protect them from the cold? ❄️

In most cases, yes! But in really wet and cold weather, if your pet isn't able to keep active or get themselves somewhere warm, their fur coat may not be enough. Like us humans, our pets, though thankfully rarely, can develop a dangerous and potentially deadly condition called hypothermia.

Any pet can become seriously ill if the temperature of their body drops too low, and acting quickly and doing the right thing could save your pet’s life.

Here are some key symptoms to look out for during the winter months! And if you suspect your pet may have hypothermia, it’s important to call your vet straight away and follow their advice ⚠️

Using hot water bottles and heat pads will heat them too quickly and may cause burns.]

We were on a walk in one of our ‘usual’ places, and Simba got a piece of stick wedged in his eye, so off we went to Chipping Norton Veterinary Hospital, who were absolutely amazing 🫶🏻
Begbroke Veterinary Surgery were equally as fantastic with their aftercare, I can’t recommend them enough.

Had he not been insured, the bill would have been over £700 ~ instead, my insurance with ManyPets UK means I only have to pay the £69 excess 😅

Thankfully he’s made a full recovery, and is back to sniffing and swimming as all spaniels do 🙌🏻.

… I do have a heart attack every time he sticks his head in a bush, but hopefully this was just a freak accident 🤞🏻
