I try never to forget how lucky I am to live in Cornwall and have this as my daily dog walk…
You know it’s hot when even my whippets are choosing shade and water by 9.30am ☀️☀️
Stay cool today everyone … 😎
Celeste is supposed to be the smart one! Not the best attempt at burying a bone that I’ve ever seen 😂😂
Why is the chair there?
Dog training with a difference!
Love this short clip of me training the whippets. It may not look like training, but this is great for their confidence and optimism - both are skills which all dogs can benefit from.
Despite living with this kitchen chair for all of their lives, seeing it like this on its side is quite different for my dogs. Simply supplying food on and near the chair helps to grow their confidence, so much so that Celeste was willing to put her feet on it. Cosmo always watches on with ’new’ things but in time he will also be able to do this - it just takes him a little longer…
How is this training? Every time a dog interacts with a ‘novel’ item with success, they will be more likely to be confident in other situations. A confident dog doesn’t tend to be reactive or unpredictable around new things or in new situations.
This is training FOR the situation rather than IN the situation - and it works!
Cosmo over stream
Cosmo has a moment of realisation that, having wondered over the stream without noticing it following a scent, he has no choice but to get his feet wet getting back 😂

Spring is…
Sitting in the long grass trying to get impressive photos of your dog 🌿
Sunshine and birdsong
Sunshine, birdsong and a lawn like a meadow - how peaceful ☀️🌼

And then there was Cosmo… 😂

Loving this spring weather - here’s Celeste having a wonder through the buttercups 🌼
Lily at the beach
Love it when Lily decides to act like a puppy, despite being a senior dog now. She just loves the beach 😁
Mum with Celeste
Happy Birthday to my mum - think you’ve missed your vocation!
My New Coat Is Here! 😁
The excitement of the arrival of my long-awaited new dog-training coat 😂😂
Early morning spring clean for the garden stream Morning
It’s really starting to feel like Spring, so time to clean out the garden stream and get it up and running for the summer months☀️💧🌊
Any sort of water feature is a great addition to a sensory garden for dogs🐕
Cosmo at the beach 🌊
Something I like to remind people is that their lead is for safety, not control.
Try to develop a habit in your dog so that they chose to ‘hang out’ close to you, rather than constantly tugging at the end of the lead.
You do this by training and rewarding your dog in low distraction environments first, such as at home in the garden, then build it up gradually to more exciting places!
Cosmo used to be the worst ‘puller’ - now most of the time he chooses to explore on a slack lead, although sometimes he still needs a gentle reminder 🐕
