17/01/2021 - Dexter
Good morning everyone. Firstly I just want to say a huge thank you for the concern and time people have put into getting our Dexter home.
We are now thinking he is trying to make his own way home as we’ve had sightings nearby but he is in a survival state which rapidly increases his fear of being around people/approached.
As hard as it may be to understand, it is so important we re-iterate the information known about dogs who go missing. Dogs can last 4-6 weeks in the weather conditions we are experiencing. We ask you not to leave food out as he needs to be hungry enough to want to come home. We truly know how difficult it is to try and understand that he is not freezing or starving, but as we know, dogs are survivors.
As difficult as this may be, we are asking everybody to please now begin going about their normal routines and take a step back from actively going out just to search for Dex. We have not at all given up hope, we have ourselves and some brilliant, experienced individuals stationed where they need to be/ ready to support wherever needed.
We ask that you save our two contact numbers under ‘DEXTER’ in your phones (07944873645 / 07860639757) so you can contact us quickly if you see him. If you do, it is so so important that you DO NOT CALL HIS NAME AND DO NOT CHASE OR TRY TO ‘HUNT’ HIM as everything to him right now is a threat. Just ring us immediately. We’d really appreciate it.
Of course we ask everyone to stay vigilant and please keep checking any possible hiding places in front/back gardens (sheds/greenhouses/garages/etc).
We cannot express how grateful we are for the amazing responses we’ve had since our first post notifying he has gone missing. We really can’t thank you all enough. Right now we really believe those that he really knows will bring him home.
Liv & family ❤️
