Good evening all we have had a very busy last few days some more than others here is one of our ongoing cases.

Meet Mr Brown tail from Barnet.

This handsome boy has come in with several attack injuries to his rear end as well as an inner ear infection which as you'll notice has given him a head tilt. Thankfully meds are working well of course supported by the fantastic Medivet 😍

We are hopeful this handsome older man can go back out to the wild ASAP as his feeders are awaiting his return and have been very worried for him ❤️

If you'd like to support the work we do at Moonstone Rescue please do follow one of the following links below. It goes without saying that all vet treatments cost however with your support we can continue to do our utmost to help where we can.

Good evening, all,😞

We are sad to make this announcement that, unfortunately, as of this morning, Charlie, one of Moonstone Rescue's long-term residents, passed away.

Charlie had been with Moonstone after coming in several years ago with a tail pull injury. This injury sadly rendered him unable to toilet by himself, meaning he had to be expressed 2 to 3 times a day. This was done by the team consistently throughout Charlie's stay, allowing him to live as normal a life as possible, where he could do what he wanted when he wanted.

Due to his injury and the new commitment involved, Charlie's owners could not cope, so they booked him into a cattery. From there, many rescues were contacted, including the rescue he originally came from. Every single rescue contacted turned their back on Charlie due to the intensity of what was required to provide him with a quality of life. Outside of his injury, he was a spirited and happy cat, full of love. Every rescue, that is, except Moonstone. We took him in and gave him what was needed for him to have a chance at a happy life.

This evening, though sadly, there will be no toileting or nappy change and no late-evening snack. However, we will remember all of the amazing times with Charlie and be thankful for all the support he received from his followers and his vets.

A huge thank you to Sharon, who has supported Charlie with a monthly subscription as well as random donations and for checking in regularly to see how he is doing. We also must thank wellpet vets for being there as and when needed for Charlie. Without all of your support, we don't believe Charlie would have made it this far.

Being specialists in the care we provide is hard; however, we will always continue to do what we do, which is to offer special care for those animals that need us most.

Thank you to all who have followed Charlie's story. He will be greatly missed. 🌈

Another lovely short video for you all!

This little lady came in a few weeks ago from Edgware, where she had been found by her feeder after being attacked.

Well, we are pleased to say that last night she was released back to the park where she was picked up. 😍

In rescue, we always aim to return the animals we pick up to where they came from; this is just one of those many instances. 🦊

Please consider making a donation towards our current fundraiser, which we are running to further extend our marmoset enclosure. With your help, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of many animals we come across weekly. 😍🦊

Over the past week, we have had several calls in relation to Hedgehogs being found injured, sick, or dying.

A lot of these calls have been referrals from others however not all of the advice by others is correct for example we have had multiple people being told to give milk and cat food which is totally incorrect and dangerous potentially resulting in death ☠️

Please do NOT feed the hedgehog if the hedgehog is dehydrated as feeding will kill it.

Place the hedgehog in a high sided box with a heat source (this can be a covered hot water bottle or even an empty plastic bottle filled with hot tap water), place something in for the hedgehog to hide under such as an old hand towel. Place a shallow bowl of water in for the hog and contact a hedgehog rescue asap.

We have linked several groups, pages, and rescues below, all of which are absolutely fantastic in what they do. Please check them out for further information 😍

Good morning, all!

Well, we've got a real cutie for you today! 💖

This beautiful duck was picked up from Watford the other evening after being found in the Vue cinema with attack injuries. 😞

Thankfully, a response was allocated, and the bird was picked up and immediately seen by one of our vets. This beautiful bird will remain in rescue for the following weeks until it has healed completely and finished its course of antibiotics. 😍

A very big thank you to the response team for heading out to this call, and of course to the management at Vue cinema for giving us a call! 😍💪

As many of you know, Moonstone Rescue doesn't just deal with British wildlife; we also take in and care for exotic animals, such as the 6 Marmosets we have in our care. They all have a story which contributes to why they are here.

With laws starting to change as of next year, we need to extend our existing enclosures. This will improve our ability to be able to say yes to helping more marmoset who are surrendered and need us most, which we are anticipating to increase (judging off this year's all time high). For more information on the license head here https://lordslibrary.parliament.uk/new-licensing-for-pet-primates/

Today we have set up a small fundraiser; we need to raise £3500. This money will pay for the extension to their existing external enclosure. This also pays for the base, electrics, lighting, heating, and bedding for their new indoor enclosure. This will also cover items for enrichment. We don't just want to give these animals the minimum to survive. We want these animals to thrive.

https://gofund.me/f321a2db

As with any exotic animals, they require a unique diet, specially trained exotics vets, as well as the husbandry costs; these are continuous costs.

No matter how big or small, your donation counts, with your help alone we can get this done and provide further care to these beautiful animals. If you'd prefer to set up a standing order each month towards the marmosets, please pop us a message for the details.

Thank you

UPDATE : very sadly due to the extent of this little ladies injury and infection she has passed at our vets 🌈

A very big thanks you to Medivet as always for all of your efforts ❤️

This afternoon , we have received a number of calls in relation to badly injured foxes. Sadly, the below is one of them.

This little one was called in from a lady in Hertfordshire originally suspecting this fox had been hit by a vehicle. Unfortunately, upon the arrival of one of our responses, it was noticed this little fox had likely been shot in the head.

At present, it is unclear whether treatment will work for this fox 🦊 however everything will be done to attempt to save her.

⚠️Please be aware that the photo below is graphic but it shows the extent of how cruel humans can be towards the animals around them.⚠️

We will, of course, keep you all updated on what happens with this little fox. Sadly, as we all know, things can change very quickly so please keep everything crossed for her. Currently this lady is very very alert however as you can see she is badly injured.

Please do consider making a donation towards this little girly every pound counts help pay for her treatment 🙏
Thank you

Meet Little E. 🦊😍
She is a frequent visitor of a caller who contacted us due to her having an injury to her back leg.
We attended, had a lengthy discussion with the caller on how we work, and that we would do everything in our power to help her before taking her to the vets.

Once arriving at the vets, it was found to be an old bite wound in the process of healing, but little E needed a boost with some antibiotics and pain relief. She will be staying here with Moonstone for the week, where we will give her a full treatment of worming, flea treatment, and to try and increase her weight.
She may also have a lungworm, as something else seems to be making her feel under the weather.

Little E is very loved by her feeders and will have to have a week away so she can get the treatment she needs. With everything crossed and hope for a full recovery, she will be returning to her feeders after this week.

A huge thank you to Medivet for your great work as always, and we ask everyone to send positive thoughts and wishes for Little E to respond well to her treatments 🙂

A few weeks ago, one of this year's cubs came in from one of our vets 😞

Sadly, this poor boy had been attacked. However, he just needed some healing time, antibiotics, and feeding up, of course 😍

This evening, we release him back to where he was picked up, however, with one slight change. We have named this fantastic boy Peter, which you may ask why?

The reason he has been named Peter is because today we sadly lost a very good friend of ours at Moonstone Rescue who's name was Peter and in our minds, this is the perfect way of honoring Peter's life as he loved all animals especially foxes.

So you run free, beautiful boy, and be safe and well ❤️

Foxangelsfoundation

On a side note to Peter our friend who this fox was named after - you will be greatly missed by all at Moonstone rescue may you watch over us all forever more 😔❤️
