UPDATE : very sadly due to the extent of this little ladies injury and infection she has passed at our vets 🌈

A very big thanks you to Medivet as always for all of your efforts ❤️

This afternoon , we have received a number of calls in relation to badly injured foxes. Sadly, the below is one of them.

This little one was called in from a lady in Hertfordshire originally suspecting this fox had been hit by a vehicle. Unfortunately, upon the arrival of one of our responses, it was noticed this little fox had likely been shot in the head.

At present, it is unclear whether treatment will work for this fox 🦊 however everything will be done to attempt to save her.

⚠️Please be aware that the photo below is graphic but it shows the extent of how cruel humans can be towards the animals around them.⚠️

We will, of course, keep you all updated on what happens with this little fox. Sadly, as we all know, things can change very quickly so please keep everything crossed for her. Currently this lady is very very alert however as you can see she is badly injured.

Please do consider making a donation towards this little girly every pound counts help pay for her treatment 🙏
Thank you

Meet Little E. 🦊😍
She is a frequent visitor of a caller who contacted us due to her having an injury to her back leg.
We attended, had a lengthy discussion with the caller on how we work, and that we would do everything in our power to help her before taking her to the vets.

Once arriving at the vets, it was found to be an old bite wound in the process of healing, but little E needed a boost with some antibiotics and pain relief. She will be staying here with Moonstone for the week, where we will give her a full treatment of worming, flea treatment, and to try and increase her weight.
She may also have a lungworm, as something else seems to be making her feel under the weather.

Little E is very loved by her feeders and will have to have a week away so she can get the treatment she needs. With everything crossed and hope for a full recovery, she will be returning to her feeders after this week.

A huge thank you to Medivet for your great work as always, and we ask everyone to send positive thoughts and wishes for Little E to respond well to her treatments 🙂

A few weeks ago, one of this year's cubs came in from one of our vets 😞

Sadly, this poor boy had been attacked. However, he just needed some healing time, antibiotics, and feeding up, of course 😍

This evening, we release him back to where he was picked up, however, with one slight change. We have named this fantastic boy Peter, which you may ask why?

The reason he has been named Peter is because today we sadly lost a very good friend of ours at Moonstone Rescue who's name was Peter and in our minds, this is the perfect way of honoring Peter's life as he loved all animals especially foxes.

So you run free, beautiful boy, and be safe and well ❤️

On a side note to Peter our friend who this fox was named after - you will be greatly missed by all at Moonstone rescue may you watch over us all forever more 😔❤️

We would like to say a very very very big thank you to the member of the public who called this evening about a suspected fox in Mill Hill ( wise lane )

A response was immediately sent out and sadly a fox was not found however an adult male muntjac deer was. This poor deer had been very badly injured and at the time had a vehicle over the top of it up on our arrival. Fortunately with the help of other members of the public, our team were able to remove the deer from under the car but sadly finding horrific injuries to both his face and rear end - for this reason we will not share any pictures or videos footage of this rescue.

The deer was very quickly taken directly to Medivet hendon, where sadly upon arrival, he passed away due to blood loss and his major injuries.

We'd also like to thank Medivet and it's team for this evening

Well this is definitely not the way to start a Sunday 😔

These two have just been collected by the fantastic volunteers at crouch end cat appreciation group after being found on a pavement in their urine filled cage 😞

Thankfully for Terri and Adele who collected them and gave us a call to which of course we found emergency space for.

Cases like this are all too common and need calling out each and every time as there simply is no excuse to abandon any animal, especially a prey animal with no means of protection and when the weather is slowly but surely getting colder there are always other options available other than abandonment.

If you'd like to make a donation please consider making it to the fantastic Crouch end cat appreciation society as without them these two would have been waiting a long time for help. We have linked their Facebook group below please do check it out to see how you could help 😊

Good afternoon all ☀️ well we've some new guests 😁

Please welcome Molasses & Maple who were surrendered a week back from a family in harrow who no longer felt they could look after them.

Exotic pets like sugar gliders are definitely not for everyone, and the same as with cats and dogs alot of serious thought needs to be taken before getting an animal like this as well as a lot of research.

Molasses & Maple here will stay in for the next few weeks with one of our foster families until suitable housing can be found for them both.

Fun fact - These marsupials are able to glide up to 45 meters (148.5 ft.)

If you'd like to contribute towards the ongoing work Moonstone Rescue does please do consider joining as a volunteer especially if you are within the London area 🥰

It's a Coco Friday it would appear 😂

You know it's coming up to Halloween as this is when Coco the 3 legged ragdoll starts playing ticks to make you believe she's being nice 😂

Coco here for those who are not aware came in a fair few years back and was a life long Moonstone cat. She now as you can see is queen of the top of the fridge and rather enjoys slapping your fingers when she's up there in her ivory tower 😍🤣😂

03/10/2024

With laws soon changing regarding the private ownership of marmosets, squirrel monkeys, tamarins, and other small primates, the team will be extending our pre-existing enclosures.

Over the past year, Moonstone has received 14 calls, mostly concerning the surrender of marmoset monkeys. Fortunately, all have been dealt with, and all are now placed in sanctuaries across the UK.

We sadly anticipate that come next year, the number of surrenders will greatly increase, far beyond our ability to assist. However, we do have a plan to help where we can. 😍

Our plan currently consists of extending pre-existing enclosures, improving our relationships with other sanctuaries and rescues, and further fundraising to enable transport runs, food, bedding, vet treatments, medications, and enclosure maintenance and upgrades.

Sadly, across the UK, many keep or have kept primates such as marmosets in cages in front rooms, garages, and more for far too long. Fortunately, with new laws coming into effect, it will be a legal requirement to hold a DWA (Dangerous Wild Animals license) to keep these types of animals. Many have worked hard for years to get this law passed and implemented, as it will help prevent suffering, harm, and mistreatment by those who do not have the animals' best interests at heart.

With the above being said, the pressure will be on all of us within wildlife and exotic rescue, and we will need all of you, the public, to continue doing what you have done best for so long: support us, share posts, and, if you can, donate. In turn, we will be able to continue doing the work we do, whether that's housing, transporting, treating, caring for, building, feeding, and much more.

A lovely rescue release this evening from a basement in Chiswick, London. 😍

Babs, one of our thin-on-the-ground London responders, attended a call not long ago in Chiswick due to a fox falling into the basement of a house. 🙁

Fortunately, upon arrival, no injuries were noted, so an immediate release was needed.

Calls like this are daily. Please feel free to get in contact if you believe you can help by volunteering as a responder, especially within London, as you are desperately needed.

28/09/2024

As the weather gets colder and winter approaches, more and more wild animals will find themselves in need of urgent care due to sickness or injury. In London, in particular, we are already facing calls every hour from members of the public, asking us to help injured or sick animals they have spotted.

Unfortunately, we have limited resources, and are desperately short of emergency responders in the London and greater area.

This means we can’t reach all of the animals that need our help, and these animals have nowhere else to turn. If you are interested in helping London’s wildlife to make it through the winter and can give a few hours of your time to attend emergency response calls please reach out to us or to one of the organisations below.

Well well well ☺️ it's looks like we get all the handsome lot 😍

Meet Leo from Harrow who came in the other evening and has since been surrendered.

Leo was thought to have FELV 😧 fortunately after tests it has been found that he is neither FIV or FELV positive 😍🥳🎆🍾🎇🎊🎉

This handsome boy will very soon go up for adoption after he is neutered, vaccinated, flea and wormed and of course health checked ☺️

It goes without saying we have multiple cats and kittens in currently, yes some being pedigree, some being moggys some with missing legs and even some with one eye 😢 all deserve fantastic forever homes so please please please don't get hung up over looks or breed and get in touch to find your purrfect match 😻

Absolutely beautiful picture taken today of one of the kittens soon coming up for adoption 😍

This little boy is one of 4 who were born within the rescue after his mother was handed in emaciated, full of fleas and worms.

Sadly, cases like this are never ending. However, as always, Moonstone and its team dig right in and get it sorted 🥰

If you are looking for a new addition to your family, please do consider pet adoption as an option. Some of the many cats and kittens we have in are desperate for their chance at a forever family 😍
